Why would he want to keep and drive around in a murderers car?

The car in CR was a left-hand drive car.... this one is right-hand drive... it's not the same car.

You're right. If I had a DB5 I would keep it safely locked up and polish it every day. Just admire it. Never drive it anywhere. I wouldn't care if it was the property of a serial killer terrorist before I got it, it's a DB5. I would love it.

EON should ditch Aston Martin completly... the DB5 is just shameless nostalgia for the fans, and the modern AM's all look the same since 1997. Sorry but AM is becoming a crap brand, and it's time to chose another car maker that is more diversified in style, and doesn't make the same car for 15 years.

Aston martin is a fantastic brand.
I saw a silver DBS the other day it it looked amazing.
They are one of the best looking cars in the world.

AM is a crap brand. They have made the same car since 1997 ! Where has their originality gone ? Until AM won't make a different car than the DBS, it will be a crap brand, and Bond should not drive any AM's until then.

When you can't be bothered to come up with a different car model for 15 years, it means the brand is an utter and complete failure. I wish Bond wouldn't use cars from a dead horse brand.

The One-77 is pretty different. Quite like it.

You must give me the name of your occulist... one very minor change doesn't make it a different car... sorry but every single car AM made since 1997 has been the same... AM is ridiculing itself.

There's the 1-77 and a new DBS soon and they look different.

What do you think is a better car than a aston martin for bond?

It's not hugely different, but different enough. Not sure if it warrants the price tag though. Similar thing to the Zagato, which is probably the most different. New DBS has been trialled and apparently has big differences in the bodywork, yet to be unveiled.

I can understand where DC is coming from. Looking at the AM lineup since the DB7, there's not been a whole lot of change. Not in the way that there was between the DB5, DBS ('67), Lagonda, V8 Vantage, Zagato & DB7.

Lets wait until we see the context the car appears in the film. It may be that the car is Bonds only car that he uses when he's in London and keeps it parked in the garage at his flat.
After the chase where he grabs M and needs to get out of London ASAP to get to the safe house, the DB5 is his only option as other car he uses needs to be ditched?

    Agreed.

The last few Lotuses have looked cool, maybe he should drive one of those again. Or a jag (I know he's driving one at some point in Skyfall but I think it's Ms).

If you look at AM historically, they have tended to keep a certain model or look for a long time. It's a relatively small company and it costs a fortune to develop a new model, so they have to do this, especially since they no longer have Ford bankrolling them. I think you're being a bit harsh on them.

I'd been holding off on buying the Brozza until they ironed out the glitches and brought out the Mk 2 version.
  • Don't know why some people are getting so annoyed about the DB5 or AM in general. The DB5 has only if my memory serves me correct been in GF, and then small walk-on parts inTB, GE (longer scene), TND, CR & now Skyfall. That's just six appearanes in twenty-three movies. So, yes, I'm very happy for it to return. Love them or hate them the AM remains Bond's choice of car, like Vodka Martini is his choice of drink and the walther his choice of gun. It's all about the Bond style and I would rather see an Aston Martin in a Bond movie and also drive an Aston Martin over any other make if I had the money to afford one!

Does the film really have enough running time to waste showing Bond popping out to Tescos or going for a nice sunday roast at a carvery in the country?

LOL. Obviously I mean a quick shot of Bond driving to work for example, like in TND. One of him pulling in or out of the casino like in GE. One of Bond leaving his flat off the Kings Road. All these sorts of scenes add a little extra to a film. Bond drove a 1930's Bentley in the 50's in the Fleming books. Cool! In SF I presume they'll have a few quick shots and probably an aerial, panning shot of Bond driving M to his old pad. No sort of chase scene...I hope. Hmmm, maybe he might actually try to get away with her in the car afterwards... Hope not though.

...and Bond should be visiting Lidl in these difficult economic times. :)

I hope by this you mean make good their escape rather than Bond pulling over in a layby behind a Little Chef and trying for a quick fumble?

I mean I hope there isn't another car chase scene.

I'd like to see Bond dropping by the Little Chef with M. At her age they'll need to make several stops probably.

@Commander_Skyfall, first I heard about it, but it is typical Yahoo to pull something old out of a random news thread as 'Current News'. I don't know why I bother with the site anymore. Good spot, though!

I whas happy the Aston Martin in QOS be destroyd.

Having The Aston Martin DB5 in Skyfall i see as no problem as in GE and TMND. I never liked the joke with the car in Cr. That he won Aston Martin DB 5 from a villian is course only because he knows what car it be and that it be the guy his treasure like Solange.

I think 001 have a point, mabey that's why don't see the car back any more in CR and QOS. So the car in Skyfall should be another one, and of course it is because that's his/Mi6 car one from Goldfinger, GE/TMND (and Twine) for example aka from Q branch. Typical Bond element: Already vergotten that Q always complane how Bond deal with ''his'' things. The boat and BMW in Twine. Forgivable, because Desmond past a way 13 years a go on 19 December 1999 and John Cleese's Q never get a change.

Of course there is only guy who going to give Bond that Astin Martin: :!! (Finaly found another place to meet.)
  • Just here look, in February! Don't worry, wat took em so long! B-)

Whould you stop going on about them looking the same.

    A. We are talking about a car made in 1964 not 2004!
    B. The Cygnet

Who did Dimitrios kill? Nothing like that was revealed. And still, Bond is ruthless, so why would he care who owned the car previously? He himself is a murderer.

He didn't though did he, as it's clearly a different car, the Bahamas car being left hand drive, and the Skyfall car being right hand drive.
