I still am hoping Crytech announces they are doing a new bond game at E3

as for World of Espionage sounds like it might be a Spy RPG which would be awesome as I loved Alpha Protocol

Because licensed games are no longer for major platforms... according to some sources.

Not sure where this picture's from, but someone on twitter posted it with the caption, "Crossing my fingers some #Spectre gaming news at E3"

I think we can safely say 007 gaming is dead which really sucks the only hope is Ubisoft was suggesting an A1 franchise game that they were going to announce in August for Q1 2016 but I firmly believe that will be splinter cell 7

i dont think it's dead permanently, but it'll be dead for a while - but eventually some gaming company will give the property another shot...

Licensed games are no longer profitable, methinks, with a few exceptions given to titles like Star Wars, probably. But, the 007 trademark isn't any more but less popular than the other franchise I mentioned. Which is why, I think, like haserot said, it's temporarily dead. Probably for ten years or so...

whats dead are movie tie-in games, there is no market for them anymore like there used to be - where Bond/Activision made the mistake was they really had no plan beyond movie tie-ins and quick cash grabs, Blood Stone was the only non movie related Bond game, and it was actually well done - but instead of continuing down that road, Activision got lazy with the property (by now we all know the story) - but fault also lies with EON/Danjaq for not understanding the world of video games, as they seemed perfectly fit to only use the games as $60 marketing ploys - instead of trying to establish a worth while franchise...... I can't picture a Bond game on any of the major consoles for a while, simply because there isn't a studio out there big enough that can/will think beyond the films and really grasp the potential that the 007 license could bring beyond the simple and hoo-hum movie tie-in..... we've sat here plenty of times of these boards coming up with brilliant ways to reinvent the franchise, and really make it stand on it's own, a separate entity from the films........ i just wish the powers that be would get the same ideas.

Plus the Craig films don't really translate well into video games. They need to go the Nightfire route and use the Current Bond's likeness and put him in a new original adventure. With Star Wars Battlefront coming back, I want EA to make Bond games again.

i think Craig's Bond could translate well to games, you just have morons behind it that don't know what they are doing... the Splinter Cell games are a perfect example - take either Double Agent or Conviction, swap out Sam Fisher for James Bond, bingo.... it doesn't have to be loud and crazy - it can be serious and grounded.

I know Craig's Bond would be fine for games, but his movies for the most part haven't. They just need just use Bond and put him in original story driven games that aren't tie ins.

exactly... i wouldn't even mind it if the games referenced the films, but stuck to their own story... like if a game came out now, it could make passing references to what happened in Skyfall - but have it's own story to progress through..

Now, take the Marvel Alliance games for instance. They don't necessarily model the characters after the actors who portrayed them in the film, but the generic designs of the original comic figures dragged into the games. Why won't Bond have his own Gaming IP and severely remain with the films? I don't mind playing with Craig's Bond, or with any actor who previously portrayed Bond, but my main aim, if I were to direct the development team, would be coming up with an original likeness for the protagonist. EA did that with Agent Under Fire, and I did like how the character was developing with their own creativity.

i feel exactly the same, video game Bond should have his own likeness and story arc.

I do fear that with no e3 announcement and no game coming to tie into Spectre, that Bond gaming is truly on hold for the time being. It's a shame, I always looked forward to new games, good and bad. Hopefully in a few years, somebody will resurrect the series with a vengence

Let's hope when Bond 25 will come out some good developer will make a videogame which covers both SPECTRE and the following movie.

A shame there's nothing on the horizon. The last couple of games, that I've played anyway, were Bloodstone and 007 Legends. They were ok games and kept me occupied. Would love to see something new but not tied into the movie as I think movie tie ins can lack quality.

What I'd love to see is a series of games with a Bond more as detective than killing machine. I'd love to see some of the novels turned into open world games such as MR with a scaled down London/Kent setting, period vehicles, clothes, the works. No need to use DC, create a video game specific Bond, such as in Agent Under Fire, but fitting the Fleming description. The trouble is, there's just no market for it sadly, but I'd love to play it. Imagine the giant squid level in DN? Would be great fun.

I was praying for a new bond game but oh well hopefully next film will have a tie in. This is the first bond film since 1983's Octopussy that won't (at least for the forseeable future) have a video game release

A view to a kill 1985 (parker brothers)
    The Living Daylights (parker brothers
Licence to Kill (Parker brother and activision kind of)
    Goldeneye (Rare and Activision)
    Tomorrow Never Dies (EA)
The World is not enough (Euro Com for n64 EA for Ps1)
Die another day (Level In 007 Legends as well as Nightfire released the same year)
Casino Royale (aborted EA game which god I wish they would just finish and release as well as levels in Quantum of solace)
Quantum of Solace (activision tie in game)
Skyfall (Activision level in 007 legends)

    Lets not forget

Dr. No (level and designs used in Goldeneye rogue agent)
From Russia with love (EA game)
Goldfinger (007 legends level as well as goldeneye rogue agent)
On her majesties secret service (007 Legends)
The Man with the golden gun (Characters adapted in G:RE and Scamanga's fun house was used in a few Multiplayer levels)
    Moonraker (007 Legends)

So really in terms of films with NOTHING taken from them we have

Thunderball (though the last level in FRWL kind of hints at this)
    You Only Live Twice
    Live and Let Die
    The Spy who Loved me
    Spectre

    so while it is disappointing...

At least we had a good run now it's all zombie games sci fi adventures.

With a proper developer to handle that sequence, I should be able to have nightmares regarding to that moment. Well stated, RC7!

I'm not a huge fan of the Batman Arkham series (loved Asylum, thought City was alright but a bit of a mess story wise and I didn't finish Origins because it felt like a lifeless cash grab, Knight looks cool but I'm not going to get it because the last two games have put me off) but what those games have done, really well, is created a new take on an iconic universe. Rather than going the easy route and just copying the Nolan films, they instead went for a full on fantasy comic book approach, but made it dark and twisted. An R rated, sort of nightmareish comic book world. And it paid off massively. Those games are hugely successful.

We need that for Bond. Get a team that loves the character and have them create a new Bond. Let game Bond be it's own thing, free from film Bond, so they can create great new stories and come up with a fresh, original take of their own. Of course they should take inspiration from the films (and the books) but rather than outright mimicking the current films, create their own take on Bond and other characters (M, Q, Moneypenny, Blofeld). Act as if they've been put in charge of rebooting the Bond films again, but in game form.

Yes sir. You guys have hit the nail on the head. The quick cash grab games just don't work as well anymore because gamers expect more out of the game today. The good thing is that if EON/Danjaq decides to pull their head out of their ass and something of high quality is produced, the gaming world will welcome it with open arms. Seems a shame to me that they don't capitalize on the opportunities.

i just wish EON/MGM/Danjaq could produce their own games - or had the capacity to (like how Marvel does their own films)... because the problem with giving the rights/licensing out to another company means (depending on how the contracts are structured) you have very little say in the final product, you basically gotta trust the developer will do something good..

It would be great to have a company like Rocksteady create a Bond of their own. It could be 50s or 60s set, and not need to licence or reference anything from the film series - though I wouldn't mind Bernard Lee's likeness handing out a mission one more time.

All characters generic would definitely do good for me. A male M (none other than Sir Miles Messervy, please) with a cross combination of Bernard Lee's and Robert Brown's likeness per se. A generic Bond with a description similar to Fleming's while borrowing the image the public eye always viewed him as. A classic imagination of Miss Jane Moneypenny. Q/Major Boothroyd to be reintroduced with proper display, unlike Ben Wishaw's young computer hacker interpretation. I think the 1960s would be more colourful for a retro era to slide in to the timeline, rest assured, less of a mindless shooter levels for the sake of run and gun. A relevant storyline, an AAA game with a long continuation to extend while the gameplay adopts some of the old fashioned mechanics yet keeping up with times.
