I hope MGM’s subsidiary, MGM Interactive becomes involved again. During their reign, the Bond games were handled better, but Activision apparently cut them off and placed total control over the license.

I had a random idea awhile back, when Pokemon go came out, for a James Bond/spy mobile game that actually wouldn't suck. It would be an augmented reality shooter (without the headset, just on the phone screen), and it would generate random missions in real life locations in your area that you would actually travel to. Then you would have to fight enemy agents to retrieve intel or battle your way in to destroy something, etc. Wish I had the know how to program it.

Kind of like virtual reality from DAD, @BMW_with_missiles?

    Yeah! Lower grade, but pretty much. Something like this, but single player with bots and missions;

(This game has released by now, and damn I wish my phone was new enough to try it!)

Would've worked for me if I were that much of an outgoing person. :))

That would be my issue too. I'd feel ridiculous running around like that in public. =))

I only recently got back into gaming and bought a PlayStation 3 from eBay so I could play Bloodstone, Goldeneye Reloaded and Quantum of Solace. I've now completed those games (twice over for BS and GE) so I am dying for a new Bond game to come out.

I'm even thinking of getting 007 Legends I'm so desperate lol

Considering the quality (low) of games Activision offered, 007 Legends ain't that bad. It's a better Bond game than GoldenEye 007: Reloaded. Worth a re-play every now and then (like once every two or three years).

I really liked Reloaded. I'm coming from the PoV of having not played the original N64 game, but I've used GE and Bloodstone as my 2 "new Craig" Bond stories to help the wait until Bond 25:-)

Let’s put it this way, there isn’t going to be a new bond game any time soon, so if you haven’t played 007 legends, you might as well give it a go

For some reason, when I went from the "fat" ps3 to the newer "slim" model, I no longer get HD picture on my old HDTV for 720p games, only 1080p. Because of this, Bloodstone and Legends look like rubbish on my tv, whilst Quantum and Reloaded look magnificent and get more replay. I don't share the loathing that others have for Legends, but the Bond voice acting leaves something to be desired when Craig voiced previous iterations. It would also make more sense if the game was more linear-the flashbacks to old movies are after Bond is shot by Eve at the conclusion of Skyfall's PTS as he bounces around the river.

I think I will get Legends. They are pretty cheap on eBay. The lack of Craig voicing Bond had been one of the reasons I was avoiding it (plus the general bad reviews), but I might give it a go anyway.

  • Legends and Reloaded are basically the same aren't they? Crap COD clones that butcher the films they're based off. Never understood why that game got slated while the other one got praise (nostalgia of the n64 version?).

You and me both, @thelivingroyale. Legends pretty much uses every single feature, from the engine to the motion capture to the 3D models design to graphics and textures from Reloaded, I find it baffling that people actually see them as two different beings when they're clearly one and the same.

Yeah, the only explanation I can think of is the bits of Reloaded that were remakes of the n64 game were enough to cloud peoples judgement. If you took two levels out of Reloaded you could easily slot them into Legends as a GE section and you wouldn't be able to tell.

Indeed. The texture and map design at the Auric Enterprises were straight out of Reloaded's Facility level I'd hardly be able to differentiate between the two if it weren't for the guards in the blue uniforms. Some of the corridors are exactly the same, as well.

I think I know now why 007 Legends was what it was, but we never got the truth from Activision...

The thing that amazes me is that they gave up the licence after Legends flopped. It flopped because it was terrible, nothing to do with the Bond name. If anything the Bond name is a selling point. Make a good game, actually put money and effort in, and it could have been a hit. Guess they decided with COD printing money Bond wasn't worth the effort.

It brings us back to the date both Blood Stone and the original GoldenEye 007 on Wii came out at. The cancellation of the Raven Software-developed Bond game had something to do with licensing issues as Bruce Feirstein told (according to a friend of mine who's in contact with him every now and then) when there was a plan to continue the story from Blood Stone and the villain Nicole Hunter referenced at the cliffhanger ending scene.

Something happened between Danjaq and Activision, so they rushed things out with 007 Legends by using every asset from Reloaded (that was in development since mid-2010, improving upon the Wii title) instead of creating a new engine and a whole new game. I'm willing to bet they didn't have time to bring Daniel Craig back for the same reason Pierce Brosnan wasn't brought on board for Nightfire to redo the voice over for Bond as his addition to the title was a last minute adjustment... Or they might have run out of finances...

Something tells me by the time they started working on Legends, they were on their last legs to give up on the license... They had no reason to cancel the Raven Software-developed Bond game, otherwise.

To be honest after EA games stopped working on 007 the games all went down hill.

Sadly there no games out there that are similar to the James Bond games.

In my opinion the last good Bond game (if you count the 2011 release as a separate release) is 2011's Goldeneye Reloaded... and while I'm in the minority I don't think Activision was THAT bad if we look at the 5 games (yes I said 5 and I will explain why in a moment) made during their tenure only one was extremely week the rest were actually quite good to dare I say it amazing my ranking of the activision games

    1. Blood Stone: though the story is Incomplete in a werid sort of way I felt more like Bond in "real Life" in this game as I would assume a week as 007 would be taking out shifty guy after shifty guy

    2. Goldeneye Reloaded: A close second the lack of third person cover systems annoys me (much like the producers staying true to OHMSS the producers of this game tried to stay so true to the mechanics of the original game which ok so their is no third person cover system in the original game so what it was a feature of Quantum I truly loved) but the locations are great as are the 2 stealth levels

    3. Quantum of Solace for the 360: honestly I enjoyed the split up nature of the film though I wish the levels were chronological and I wish the car chase and plane chase in Quantum were playable as well as the card game\

    4. Quantum of Solace PS2: Really this is a different game all together 3rd person in the style of From Russia with Love it's a different game and if you never played it pick up a ps2 and a copy of this and realize this gem is amazing. the issues is too few levels and while the Haiti mission is awesome the lack of Venice and I believe the train levels kind of upset me Also NO CARD PLAYING both games have this issue of course but seriously not even a mini game your adapting Casino Royale into a game... I genuinely wonder if EA would of Adapted the Card Game I am assuming sadly no and there would of been a ton of gadgets added in for no reason (see From Russia With Love) but who knows..

    5. 007 legends: poor voice acting and a dodge story make this really an issue the level designs are nice and trust me I am so desperate I would take easily take 007 legends 2 in a heart beat (with levels based on Thunderball, Diamonds Are Forever, The Man With the Golden Gun, A view to a Kill Tomorrow never dies and Spectre) it's still piss poor...

anyways for the future of gaming I still hope that telltale rumor becomes true at somepoint as the seem to be the only developer interested.
