I wish we would get a 007 game of any kind, the last proper one, Legends, was in 2012, nearly 7 years ago. Does anybody own the Bond license currently? I heard Activision lost the Bond license a couple of years ago. Maybe we will get a new one when we get a new Bond actor for B26, but at this point it's been so long and after 007 Legends, which imo was mediocre, are EON even willing to give James Bond video games another chance?

I don't think anyone owns the license at the moment. I think the 007 video game series has come to an end. The whole espionage genre feels like it fading away.

It's sad that it's basically over for the 007 games, I grew up loving them (Nightfire especially) and you're right the espionage genre does seem like it's fading away. Maybe when the Avengers licensed game comes out EON might get an itch, but sadly that's just wishful thinking to the extreme at this point.
  • Seeing what Insomniac did with Spider-Man, I will always have hope that we can get an original Bond game completely separate from the films. Please Insomniac! or maybe Naughty Dog. I just want to play an actual Bond game again.

Ugh guys, I legit had a dream about a new Bond game being announced the other night. 4.5 gap between films and no games. At least the wait between QOS and SF had a few games. I need my fix. At least give me Splinter Cell

Doesn't look like that is going to happen either. It feels like the industry has turned its back on spy games. When it feels like every other game is cashing in on Fortshite, all I want are some spy games. Fisher, Logan or Bond, just give me something.

Sucks we couldn't get a Roger Moore Bond game with Moore doing the voice over like Connery with FRWL. Moore would have 100% been on board to do it. And Moores movies were more like video games the Connerys.

I think 007 video games are over with. I have very little expectation for Splinter Cell now. When Ghost Recon and Far Cry got Splinter Cell DLC I had very high hopes. What I read the next Splinter Cell won't be AAA game.

Considering the current state of gaming, I might even prefer remasters of the older games. Are those rights locked up by EA and Activision, or does EON/MGM have the final say?

Danjaq has the final say here, since the games are using lots of elements they copyrighted. The words 'James Bond', the gun barrel, the Bond theme...

The problem we also face is that the studios who made these games are, in most cases, defunct or bankrupt. So I don't know if the people who ran these studios have the rights to things like game play mechanics, maps, textures... They still might.

And then there's the publishers, EA and Activision, they need to agree on publishing as well. Lastly, there's MGM, who own 50% of Bond, but I get the feeling they're ready to sign off on anything, considering they need the money.

    But it's Danjaq/EON who's holding everything back.

i would normally agree.. but i've recently been playing the new Hitman series - it is the best James Bond game i have ever played... except it's not James Bond lol.. it has almost everything that one could crave for in a Bond game - so if one were to be made in the future, i feel like Hitman is the current template to follow, sprinkle in some action/driving sequences, and you got almost the perfect 007 game...

so right now, along with the handful of other Devs i would love to see take the license, i am throwing IO Interactive in there as well

My idea on what a next Bond game should offer us. Maybe I'm just dreaming awake, but....

At this point I would love a Daniel Craig's James Bond game which included levels from all of his movies, especially since only Casino Royale had a proper adaptation (levels from QoS were of course featured in the Quantum of Solace game but they could do much more with the movie and Skyfall was barely touched in the 007 Legends game) and let the player play them as a continuous story.

A LEGO James Bond game would also be dope.

LEGO James Bond is probably the best we could hope for at this point.

If I hadn't lost interest in video games I would be so annoyed there has been no James Bond video game. I remember the days where Bond games were released every year and they had their own stories and missions different from the movies. AUF, NF, EON, GRA, BS. Good times.

    What is BT?

And I am still annoyed because I still do love the games

Hell Quantum of Solace was the first game I played this decade

I played through and beat the Ps1 games (except for 007 racing) and I beat James Bond the duel for sega Genesis

I even beat that bootleg mobile game MI6 Agent

I love bond video games and I don’t know why we can’t have a new one

I presume that was a slight typo and BS was meant (Blood Stone).

Started thinking about Bond video games and realized I had never bothered to rank them, so I figured why not...

    1. Everything Or Nothing
    2. The World Is Not Enough (PS1)
    3. From Russia With Love
    4. The World Is Not Enough (N64)
    5. Agent Under Fire
    6. Goldeneye 64
    7. Tomorrow Never Dies
    8. Nightfire
    9. Goldeneye Reloaded
    10. Bloodstone
    11. Quantum Of Solace (PS3)
    12. 007 Legends
    13. Quantum Of Solace (PS2)
    14. 007 Racing
    15. Goldeneye Rogue Agent

That was tougher than I thought.

EON was damn good, the closest the games came to blurring the lines to the films. Also, it could justifiably be considered as Brosnan's 5th Bond film.

I absolutely do consider it to be Brosnan's 5th entry, just as i consider Blood Stone as part of Craig's overall story.

I agree on both being part of their timelines. They are great original stories in their one right.

Both games do indeed work well as sort of "lost" Bond films.

    Specifically

    Goldfinger 64
    Nightfire Reloaded
Mi6 Agent for the mobile phone
    And of course Goldeneye 25
