    No
  • I don't know who the hell this can be, other than already best guessed attempts. The last clue is bizarre for sure and only fits a handful of characters - that don't tie in with the other clues provided

Take a shot with Apostis from For Your Eyes Only

Darn it, Baltimore, you've gone and done it again!

The answer is Apostis from FYEO.

    Explanations:

    Bond won't need me again.

Apostis is Kristasos's chauffeur who takes Bond and Lisl home after the casino scene. When Lisl invites Bond in he says to Apostis "I won't be needing you any more".

One of my orders is repeated.

Kristasos instructs Apostits to take the "ATAC to St. Cyrils", memorably repeated by Max the parrot.

Honey is glad I'm not her man.

When Apostis falls to his death, Melina (whose name is Greek for "honey") is relieved that the body does not belong to Bond.

In my true form, I'm a university professor.

The actor who played Apostis, Jack Klaff, is now a respected literary academic who has been a visiting professor at Harvard and other universities.

Look closely and you'll find that tying a rope to a post is essential.

Apostis ties a rope to a post when attempting to dislodge Bond's rock-climbing pitons, and Bond subsequently uses it to climb up the surface. However... "you'll find that tying a rope to APOSTIS essential" was also a clue. I did tell you to look closely!

Oh good heavens! I am glad Baltimore won this, and I was certainly not getting anywhere with it. Thanks for posting the answers, Tokoloshe. <:-P

May be a few hours wait before we hear from @Baltimore_007 (I think he is sleeping now ... but I'm just guessing).

I too am looking forward to another Baltimore round!
  • You got to be kidding me, I can have 'another' go..

I didn't realize I had won again. Been very busy the last 48 hours to check on progress. Allow me ample time to put something together and we can take it from there. That last round will never be beaten, but we'll see what occurs in any event. Allow a few hours to get something up and running

    Thanks, Baltimore!

And, Tokoloshe, you did a great job, by the way.
  • Thanks, Baltimore!

And, Tokoloshe, you did a great job, by the way.

You're right, @Tokoloshe put together a fine (if short lived round) that provided some puzzlement and intrigue, as did @Birdleson before it. Two names that could feature more prominently in future rounds and you saw some promise there. I'll get back in due course and we can get this underway once again. Won't be long now

Here is the latest round. This time, it should go a lot quicker than usual

#1 I start things off with an answer to a query

#2 I tried to be useful, but someone usually provided greater assistance

#3 I was in close proximity with danger, although someone else was at a greater risk

#4 I could be looked on as a 'strategic' character

#5 There was a reference to what occured in another Bond movie - in another Bond movie

#6 There were winners, and there were losers - and I was certainly one of the other

#7 I was involved in some enthralling entertainment

#8 I missed the absolute pinnacle of the days other entertainment

more pointers as and when necessary

    Carter from Casino Royale?

I was going to use Carter in connection with another character I had in mind, but went in the end with the one underway now. It is not Carter from Casino Royale this time however
