The other Russian guy (don't know his name) that plants the mine with Pola?

Max Zorin, perhaps. He certainly fell...

I need a name please and then we can confirm your WIN! It's only fair I believe.

I'm thinking clue #5 could relate to him being lifted up by MayDay and later being dropped down the shaft.

    Is it Klotkoff?

Oh wow. I had always thought that Pola's assistant was a single scene character, I'd never realised he is the same guy as from the racetrack scene. Well done Willy!

Thanks @pachazo. Top round. Great clues there. Can you give the answers to your clues for us all?

I'm off to bed, so will have a good think about a character and will start the next round tomorrow.

    Congrats, Willy! Well done indeed.

I had thought of Pola, but never remembered her falling.
Plus I have a tougher time than most remembering minor characters.

Looking forward to the next round. Great round finished, pachazo! :)

Can you give the answers to your clues for us all?
    Certainly.

    1) Things didn't go as planned but it wasn't necessarily my fault.

Klotkoff is captured, the mine is disarmed and then Klotkoff is killed. If Bond had not shown up then perhaps things might have turned out differently.

    2) I caught someone off guard and then someone caught me off guard.

Zorin is taken aback when Klotkoff calls him a physiological freak and then Klotkoff is very much surprised when May Day picks him up.

    3) I am not shy about expressing my personal opinion towards a certain individual.

To Zorin : "We trained you. Financed you. What would you be without us? A biological experiment? A physiological freak?"

    4) I did what I was told to do. In hindsight, perhaps I shouldn't have.

Zorin tells him to disarm the mine. Considering what happened to him next perhaps he shouldn't have been so helpful.

    5) What goes up must come down. I didn't particularly enjoy either part of it.

May Day lifts him up over her head and then throws him down. Clearly, he wasn't a big fan of either part.

    6) I can't believe that this is happening to me! This phrase could actually be used twice for me in two separate situations.

When May Day lifts him above her head and when he his being thrown down the shaft.

    7) James Bond made the mistake but I was the one who paid the price for it.

Bond alerted everyone to the presence of intruders when he threw his air tank into the giant propeller blades but Klotkoff was the one who was captured and killed.

    8) Three people arrived at the destination but only two left.

They didn't all arrive together but Bond, Pola and Klotkoff arrived at the pumping station but only Bond and Pola escaped.

    9) 15 -3 -83

Here's a shot of the numbers that appear on the mine!

    10) Things might have turned out differently if I had kept my mouth shut.

If he had not taunted Zorin then perhaps May Day wouldn't have made an example of him.

    11) An associate of mine had previously been in some Bond films, including FRWL.

As previously explained, the associate was General Gogol played by Walter Gotell. Gotell had previously appeared in FRWL, TSWLM, MR, FYEO and OP.

    12) The first time I fell I only injured my pride. I wasn't so lucky the second time.

He is visibly shaken after May Day threw him down but he is not injured. He is not so lucky after he is thrown down into the shaft.

    13) Chop Suey

A play on words on the brutal nature of his death and also a reference to San Francisco's Chinatown to which they were close to.

Thanks for playing everyone. There were many great guesses and I'm continually impressed by the knowledge and skill of all of our members here. Looking forward to another great round with Willy.

Exceptional game, @pachazo! Some very clever clues!

    And well done to @WillyGalore

Yes, excellent clues there @pachazo. They all made perfect sense. I don't think I'd have got it without the reference to General Gogol.

    Next round:

    CLUES:

    1. I was there from the very beginning.

    2. I share a similar trait with another character from another Bond film.

Okeydoke, I'll take a wild guess at Charles Robinson. He's the first person to speak in TND and he fills a similar role to Tanner in other films.

Oh my that narrows it a lot. You really shouldn't just give it away like that, Willy.

    Ahem.

    OK, I'll guess: Quarrel

    Neither of those are correct.

    CLUES:

    1. I was there from the very beginning.

    2. I share a similar trait with another character from another Bond film.

    3. I also share a connection to John Rambo.

    4. I had a great escape but an associate of mine was not so lucky.

    INCORRECT GUESSES:

    Blofeld
    James Bond
    Henry Gupta
    Melina Havelock
    Christmas Jones
    Eric Kriegler
    General Orlov
    Quarrel
    Charles Robinson
