Everything screams mechanical character, but now all I have in my head is Nichola McAuliffe as Bond's BMW in TND.

Not Bond's BMW Voice(Nichola McAuliffe). (By the way props to you for thinking outside the box, I would have never thought of the car voice ;) )

Ok too many clues? I was afraid I wasn't giving you enough.

Christmas Jones? Struggling to fit all clues to anyone now

Not Dr Christmas Jones or Francois Derval or Angelo Palazzi. I'll try to add a new clue shortly.

There is one clue that does not line up with my guess at all, the rest fit nicely.

The one clue which humbugs most of my guesses is the one about it not being clear what happens after my assignment. This seems to indicate that the character doesn't die, which rules out about half the people in the Bond canon!

If I'm allowed a second guess, I think it might be Colonel Scott from Moonraker.

I still can't get anywhere with this. Nearly all the clues fit the Derval impostor Palazzi in TB but he's already been guessed. Totally stuck!
