It's not her. Had to Google her; didn't know her name, but that's who I figured it was.
It's been a few days, so I've added three new clues.
Perhaps he will, because you've won the round. Congratulations are in order for @pachazo! Very well done, the correct answer is Chris, the American Astronaut - YOLT.
1.) Were you expecting someone else?
- They don't know who is approaching from their rear; who else would be after an American space capsule other than a villain?
2.) Jealous? You should(n't) be.
- Getting to "free float" in space is nice, but no need for jealousy when it's short lived and ends in death.
3.) Pay attention!
- Chris is told not to stay out in E.V.A. too long.
4.) Seems someone knows something I don't...until I know something they don't.
- Chris and the others have no idea who is approaching, but once his communications are cut, it's possible he has a better idea of where Blofeld's rocket is landing, while nobody else has a clue.
5.) Ignoring or avoiding proper advice is never a good thing...
- He doesn't get back into the capsule like he's told.
6.) ...but perhaps there was a reason for that.
- The reason for this is because his communications may be cut/the interference has begun, adrenaline is running and he can't hear them, etc.
7.) In answer to your question: absolutely not.
- "Does it look like it's moving past?" Absolutely not.
8.) Oh, just how wrong I was.
- He says that the maneuver unit makes it easy to get out, but it doesn't help with getting back in.
9.) Unfortunately, I don't believe we will.
- He is told he has plenty of time in the other E.V.A.s to experiment, but alas, he doesn't.

- Harking back to the maneuver unit, which doesn't help him at all like previously believed.
11.) I bet you're reminded of Jaws.
- Not Jaws the character, but the movie, as Blofeld's rocket opens like a shark and swallows the capsule whole.

- Lost in space? Nobody's finding him.

- Trading with the other astronaut would keep him from dying in space, but at that point, there was no telling who was stealing the capsule and what would be done with the other astronaut.

- Hesitating led to Chris' death.

- Another hijacking takes place later on in the film.

- (made this one a while back, don't even recall now. What a great clue. Believe it had to do with the manuever unit he mentions, you can tell I was milking this thing dry for clues.)

- He is inevitably left clueless as to where the rocket is heading.

- If they had launched just five minutes later, would Blofeld have missed them, or was he waiting out there the whole time?

- It doesn't sound like the other men can hear Chris telling them it's another space craft and that it's opening up.

- Being an astronaut, who wouldn't expect it to be fun?

- Not many people can say they've free floated throughout space before.

- Christopher Walken has heard of him, due to having the same first name.

- Was quite proud of this one, as much of a horrible stretch as it was: in TND, Carver jokingly tells Bond that maybe he'll commission him to write a novel, to which Bond says he would be "lost at sea...adrift," or in this case, lost in space, adrift.

- He's got a cheesy, huge grin on his face before going out into space.

- Harking back to one of the first clues, was he too shocked to be able to get back into the capsule, or was he not competent enough to reel himself back in in time?

- The other astronaut with him is, at that point, certainly screwed...

- ...however, Chris is the only one left outside alone.

- He is "cut off" from the capsule as he tries to tell his men more information, including that his line is cut.

- As stated before, the hijacking doesn't go the exact same way later on in the film.

- He dies right at the beginning of the PTS/movie.

- Later on, 007 is captured because he accidentally tries to bring gear into the rocket. Chris may have known he shouldn't have done that, and would've been better off being kidnapped in the beginning and perhaps giving Bond that information.

- His failure: death. Blofeld's failure: blown up HQ and has his plan ruined.

- However, Blofeld still wins by staying alive at the end of the movie.

- Floating alone in space would be freezing.
These clues were a lot better a day ago, but now that I've provided the answers to them all in one go, I realize how awful a couple of them are. Still, happy to have made a round last this long finally! @pachazo, over to you.
That works just as well, if not more. I'm sure two or three of my answers are slightly different, there were a few times I'd come up with an obscure clue that I can't remember now.
All kidding aside, that was one hell of a challenge @Creasy47. You had us all stumped for weeks. I'm actually kicking myself for not thinking of him sooner. When @Thunderfinger guessed the president, it suddenly hit me.
Moving forward, give me a little bit to come up with something. Ironically, the character that I previously had in mind has very close ties to this Chris the Astronaut. I'd like to go in another direction now.
My plan is to have something up by Monday. See you then.
