CR had a longer than average gap between films and obviouly the Craig controversy gave a lot of publicity as well as the stories about Brozzer being dumped.
It must sting them having helped giving Craig so much free advertising and then discover that it gave CR a very high curiosty factor.
Who were those people? I got the impression it was one lone moron with too much time on their hands setting up a website. Then the media got wind of it and blew it up out of all proportion.
I was very happy with Craig being cast right from the start. I thought he was quite an inspired choice and not what I'd been expecting at all from the EON that had stood by 4 progressively more awful entries from Brosnan. It immediately also signalled that they wanted to get back to quality over tired pastiche.
My only moment of doubt was when Craig took that boat ride up the Thames with a life jacket on, looking like a total muppet. But it was probably better than Brozza's beardy-weirdy unveiling before GE. Funny that Brozza's tenure was topped and tailed by beardyness.

Really? Dalton's Bond fighting androids, sounds better than the last 3 films.
I don't believe that the android fighting would have made it to the shooting script, or even the film. Like the Elephant stampede in The Man With The Golden Gun or Dr No being played by a monkey, someone would have nixed the idea sooner or later.
Agreed,i'm not sure Dalton or Hopkins would have wanted a film like that.
This is what Dalton would have said to Cubby about the script:
"This err plot to kill androids sounds rather far fetched sir"
:))
To which he followed up with...
"The choice of enemy in the screenplay was questionable, so I took the liberty of choosing something else."
"I know Anthony Hopkins,he's tough and resourseful, but i cant believe he's an android"
Post of the month, right there.
I can't beat Barry's post.
"I'm posing as Hopkins' friend to see what LEADS I can get from her".
:D

Sounds like a first draft. So yes, an MI movie.
I supposed all the shoot out finales we in the Bond films were all androids...so no real people were killed... :-))
I wouldn't doubt it somewhere down the line the Bond films would get redubbed and re-edited to tone down the violence:
"Tiger! It seems your android ninjas did it! They defeated Blofeld's android army!"
The first couple of scripts for OHMSS had Bond locked up in a cage with a monkey. It got dropped right in time. ;-)
So I'm not sure that Dalton's third film would have been exactly what we now know about it.
;)
Dalton was in control of the part from the very first minute. Unlike Connery and Moore, who needed some time to blossom as Bond, Dalton got away with it instantaneously. I can only dream about his GF or TSWLM. His confidence, posture and charm were unfortunately wasted by curiously inefficient studio executives and of course the ever unsatisfied wrath of one Kevin McClory.
Totally agree. As I've said before, Tim nailed it from his first moment on screen.
A tragic period in the history of the series. Just as things were getting really interesting again we were denied a third and even fourth movie from one of the best actors to tackle the role. A sad loss.
In that case Sean Ubernailed it as his entrance and James Bond in DN is in my humble view never been surpassed only by himself in the next one FRWL.
Tim was just a failed attempt in steering the franchise in a new direction, and even a third movie by TD would not have changed the outcome namely that TD did not work in the then most important BO location, the US.
As far as I'm concerned Connery needed no time at all. Are people forgetting the casino scene? Right from the beginning of Dr. No Connery was already 100% Bond.
I also think Connery was pretty much perfect from day one. Scratch that. His performance in Dr No was perfect. And he was simply the best of the lot.
Moore did not hit his stride until Spy, IMO.
But of all the post Connery actors I believe Dalton was the one who took the least time to convincingly define his Bond.
agreed with Connery & Moore. :!!
