Really? FRWL I can understand but CR? How old are you 10? How can you have missed CR on the big screen?
Watch the tone please.
I'm 17. So I would have been 11.. yes. :)
Made it for Quantum of Solace though. And DAD was my first theater Bond. My parents took me at a very young age.
Gutted. How come you didnt badger your parents to take you to CR? DAD was a 12 too so if they blagged you into that when you were 7 why not CR?
See it if you can - CR is the most exhilirating Bond film I've seen on the big screen; although only seen DN, YOLT and everything from LTK onwards.
GF, OHMSS and TSWLM would be epic on the big screen - surely theres got to be some re -releases for the 50th?
GF should be in its place. DAF stinks up the place for the others.
Can't speak for FRWL but CR looked great on the big screen, sorry you missed it.
I'd like to see TLD at the cinema again, saw it when I was 5 so it'd be great reliving childhood memories. LTK would also be cool because I was too young to get in at the time.
I'm suprised they chose DAF. I think maybe they could've thrown a Moore, Dalton or Brosnan in instead of DAF. I think TSWLM, TLD or GE would've been better choices.
I agree, the one anomaly in the list. Although it’s a witty entry in the cannon, I feel it’s more famous for its Fleming title and Shirley Bassey title song than anything else. Whilst GF is over-rated for me, I would have expected it to turn up on this list. The others I’m not surprised by.
What no Roger Moore or Pierce Brosnan films?
Very interesting....
And why not mid-period Connery - TB or YOLT, which represent Bondmania at its height - instead of BOTH DN and FRWL?
Anything other than DAD or AVTAK would have been more acceptable than DAF.
:P
IMO DN and OHMSS earned their spots but why not a Moore film (he was Bond the longest and had the most films) and Brosnan (though not my favorite Bond he was very popular in the eyes of most fans)
BTW @RC7 your choices are very good.
wow, really, was this in the UK or US?
Should have had TSWLM or FYEO.
You did not just say that. LTK is the best Bond film of all time!
They wanted to include the most entertaining Bond film.
:-bd
and the best written Bond film :) DAF has an outstanding script, full of quotable one-liners and classic scenes... a real gem !!
Those are all good picks. Interesting that there's no Moore, Dalton or Brosnan ones. Despite a lot of the criticism DAF gets, I find it's a very popular entry among audiences, probably due largely to Tom Mankiewicz's witty dialogue.
BOND ON THE BEACH
CANNES PLAYS HOST TO FIVE CLASSIC FILMS
James Bond will be in the south of France from tonight. As part of the celebrations for Bond’s 50th anniversary, Cannes Classics are screening five 007 films on the beach during the Cannes Film Festival. The screenings start tonight, Thursday 17th May, with a double-bill of DR NO and CASINO ROYALE and continue on the 20th, 21st and 23rd. This is the first time the James Bond films have ever been screened during the festival. And another first, the official trailer for the 23rd adventure, SKYFALL, will be publicly screened on Monday 21st May introduced by French actress Bérénice Marlohe who plays Severine in the film. Tying the classic and the new together in the world of Bond, Bérénice Marlohe will be joined by Martine Beswick who will introduce FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE. Martine played Zora in FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE and was also Paula in THUNDERBALL.
The other films being shown as part of the Cinéma de la Plage Bond screenings are ON HER MAJESTY’S SECRET SERVICE and DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER. These two titles will debut in high definition Blu-ray later this year in BOND 50, a collectible box-set featuring all 22 James Bond films on Blu-ray disc.
I still can't believe they decided not to finish the previous blu-ray set, only to start a new one with a 50th anniversary design, almost forcing fans to re-buy the blu-rays they already own.......
That's why I held off buying that set. I was 100% sure they would release the full collection for the 50th anniversary.
