It kind of reminds me of that scene in Never Say Never Again where Bond says, I've spent my time teaching...not doing. This is going to be good.

Tell me the younger agent Brosnan is squaring off against doesn't look a lot like a younger Sean Bean.

To me he looks more like Tom Hardy from Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. :p

in all honesty i don't care what the reviews say because i'll decide for myself if its any god or not i don't need critics to decide for me. these reviews may well turn out to be correct but i think i'll take my chances .

I'm not even reading any reviews. I'll just see it when I can. :)

I expect it to be overall pretty darn good. I don't expect it to be a serious film, but not cheesy or stupid either. I'm quite disappointed reading the current info about Expendables 3. For November Man, I have higher expectations. I simply hope it's really well done, entertaining, and enjoyable - especially looking forward to seeing Pierce in this role.

Remember reviewers saying DAD was one of the best Bonds ever?

And it may not be great, but I still hope it is at least enjoyable. So I do plan on seeing it. It will be a long time for it to be available for me, though.

When you go see it, please spoiler tags for major plot development but do write whether you liked it or not. I'm interested in what our forum members think of it.

This is why I don't read these things. I see it for myself.
  • Shame about the reviews but I'm still going to see it because it's Pierce Brosnan in an action/spy film again. I wasn't expecting anything brilliant after the trailers (thought the first teaser was alright but the other trailer did nothing for me), but as long as the film is at least halfway decent, I think it'll be worth it to see one of my favourite James Bonds kicking ass again.

Same with Expendables 3, which I'm dragging my wife to the cinema for tomorrow. I've read a lot of bad stuff about it but I loved the second film (thought the first was a bit of a let down) and those guys are all awesome. Sylvester Stallone is my favourite actor, he was my childhood hero and I'll always be a massive fan of his and I love the rest of the cast too. So even though the reviews are bad, I'm going to see it anyway because it's Rocky/Rambo (with Arnold, Jason Statham, Harrison Ford and more) going up against Mad Max. That premise alone is worth the ticket price imo.

Besides, I've enjoyed lots of films that didn't do well critically. A recent example is Grudge Match. It got crap reviews but I thought it was fun. Predictable sure, but still fun.

I kinda agree with the review if the movie was to judge by the trailers

I think more the way you seem to, in general, @thelivingroyale.

I usually read a variety of reviews, but I always like to make up my own mind. Especially if it is an actor I admire or a series of films I have enjoyed; I'd rather go see it in the theater than not.

I'd happily go see November Man in the theater if I could; but that is highly doubtful here. I hope it is at least decent with some enjoyable moments - and I know I'll enjoy seeing Pierce in the role anyway. :)

Screentime of the movie is 98 minutes. In The Netherlands movie Dutch R-rank 16+ for Coarse Language and get fair symbol.

If you haven't read the Variety review then don't as it spoils a pretty big amount of the plot. A lot of the films story is ruined for me now.

I can't be arsed to read the rest of the reviews but I think it's worth noting that while Variety didn't really like the film, they did say Brosnan did a really good job.

    From the premiere:

Now we can add that picture to this picture of Bond and a bond girl:

Are there any other pictures like this ?

Poor Daniel, all his Bond girls are being swooned by former Bonds. It's only a matter of time before we see a picture of Berenice Marlohe with Roger or Sean. :P

I just finished reading the book in preparation for the movie - and while I can definitely see Pierce doing a splendid job as Devereaux (who is about as morally challenged as it gets), I'll be more interested to see how much of the twisty plot of the novel remains in the rather disappointingly short 98 minute runtime.

    Very good book, though.

Glad you like the book; I have 3 of his ordered. I did read that they were incorporating things from two books in this series, not just one, though. I rather doubt most of it is in the film, although I hope the personality of the main character is.

I think they mainly are taking characters from There Are No Spies. I believe the russian hit woman in the trailers isn't ever named in the film but I would say that is Alexa from the novel. I don't believe there are any actual story lines from the novel in the film.

Interesting. I haven't watched the second trailer yet as I don't like watching anything other than the teasers - theatrical trailers give too much away - so I couldn't tell whether any plot was carried over from the book. We'll have to wait and see, I guess. Either way, I'll be reading more from The November Man series.

According to the movie reviews, (SPOILERS ABOUT THE BOOKS AND THE MOVIE ARE FOLLOWING; by the way, thanks a lot for spoiling me that, "variety.com").
    SPOILERS!!!!
in the movie, Deveraux retires after the death of the girl he loves.

I think they're talking about Rita Macklin, who appeared in books 2, 4 and 5, but I'm not sure since I haven't read book 7 yet (There Are No Spies, the one they've based the movie on), as I'm still looking for a paperback copy of book 6 that doesn't cost too much (the book itself isn't that expensive, infact, it's quite cheap, but shipping it from the USA to Europe makes it really expensive).
