  • I was emboldened to write after reading 'DaltonCraig007's' response to this teaser. I, too, am utterly underwhelmed by this trailer and again I ask: have the producers of the Bond series lost the plot? Time and time again polling of Bond aficionados reveals the favourite films in the canon to be those which blend action and humour: the Craig Bonds positively burst with the former, but lack humour to compensate for the increased level of violence. Trailers are usually designed to whet the appetite by showing the best parts of the film. If that's the case with 'Skyfall', maybe Bond 23 should be renamed 'Nosedive' ...

This might be going too far, but it certainly hasn't really whetted my appetite. I remain hopeful, but this looks dour and has far too many glimpses of Dench. Considering it's a minute long and has 3-4 shots or mentions of M, I am worried.

The movie revolves around M. Might want to get used to that idea now. Sorry you aren't impressed but they can't please everyone.

Right Getafix for once Dench doesn't say a line in a trailer.... and it's still too much ? :))

So you think they've given Dench a non-speaking role in this one? I don't really care about the trailer, but I do care what happens in the film and on the basis of this it's going to be a Dench-fest, like TWINE. I know I'm not going to be the only one complaining in October if that's how it turns out.

I don't understand, complaining isn't going to change anything.

if there's not too much psycho-babble and trust issues, I don't mind Dench having a bigger role............... besides Dench seems not be leaving the UK, so it's appropriate the head of MI6 under attack would be more present on home soil in the film.

Nice to see another Bourne reference via the shot of Bond from under the water - exactly the same as the opening shot of the Bourne Identity and the last shot of Bourne Ultimatum.
Yes, and everytime a man falls in the water and is filmed from beneath it will be a Bourne homage.

On that note, I wonder how many homages to Bourne Baywatch did?

And yet I don't remember this shot in any other film apart from both the first and last Bourne movies... which happen to be the biggest spy/thriller competitors to Bond in the last 10 years. Hmmm. Strange that. Oh well, either it's deliberate, which is odd, or it's a pure coincidence, which is even odder.

For the love of Dench, why bring Bourne into it? Did you not get enough attention from Mummy? Stoooooooooooooooop it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The names Bond, James Bond here.

The Olympics are around the corner please please reference all Bourne falling into water scenes here, jeeeessssssuz!!!!!!

  • Any chance of a link to Michael Wilson on BBC Breakfast that will work for outside the UK?

    Would be greatly appreciative...:-)

just booking my appointment with the head doctor. must be going mad but could have sworn i spotted a shot exactly the same as the iconic opening and close of the bourne trilogy in that trailer. probably should have let it pass without a mention.

Well, 1,500 raves and three nays... With such overwhelming support, no one should feel threatened by a few words of doubt or concern and feel the need to stamp those people down. Right? No? Okay, flame on DC cultists. No doubt the visuals are excellent and it looks cool in some ways - love the Shanghai scenes, they pop against the more mundane settings - but the sullen Bond at the start and the overall darkness (literally and in tone) point to another dour Bond that is unfortunately not my taste. Craig's last line at least gives hope that he will be a cooler and less scowling Bond, in subtle degrees anyway. I know you can't really tell from a teaser. I'm still looking forward to seeing it and, as usual, I want it to be a success.

I quite liked the trailer - doesn't seem to give too much away, sure the full trailer will provide more info. Looking forward to October. At least it won't be a joke-fest al a Moore, I like a more realistic Bond film. Bring it on.

That's the opposite of my reaction since he seemed pretty sullen when he said that last line. My immediate thought was "Bond. As bright and chipper as ever.: LOL. But that's how Craig plays the character. It's ultra serious. I can accept that.

Same here. I am hoping that it will be a cracker but right now it isn't screaming Bond at me. Generic stock footage-style night time helicopter shots of Asian cities induce yawns I am afraid.

The delivery of that line definitely sounds different. He does seem a bit less tense here.

This was a teaser trailer, and I think that we got more than I would have expected. If you want your appetite to get more "wet", wait for the full trailer.

Besides I don't agree with the "a trailer should show the best parts of the movie" school of thought. Like you said, a trailer should "wet your appetite." That also means leaving some of the best clips and scenes out of the trailer, so you don't spoil too much for yourself.

Same thought here. Quite jovial for Craig's Bond!

Thought it suited quite well. Won't be any dubstep in the final soundtrack though, hopefully ;)

Looks brilliant to me. I'm totally on board with this.

Also, I think this is some of the best cinematography the series has ever seen. This and Majesty; tip top.

How do you know it wont have humour/ It probably wont have doubletaking pigeons but the Craig films wont do that.

You dont know yet. Wait and see the film.

Err, this is a thread about the trailer, therefore I think he has made a fair observation.

Desmond's last appearance was short and sweet...

I'm sure it's going to be a great movie but I'm not too thrilled with the trailer. I was expecting something more awesome... something I would want to watched over and over. Hopefully the next trailer will give us something more.

    Er, dear Getafix.

We are not going back to the Moore/Dalton/Connery era. This is a new era completely different. Not better. Not worse. Just different.

    Give it a try.
