As a 40-something guy I love the teaser. And I love Craig as Bond. But I have had one nagging doubt since CR.

Where is that feelgood factor that I felt when I left the cinema with my Dad when I was in my teens after TSWLY or Moonraker? (whatever you think of the films now) When you wanted to do all the ridiculous action and your Dad wanted to flirt with the bus conductress on the way home.

I hope they let Craig have a long drink by the pool moment so that there is something aspirational for us all rather than just "it's grim being a spy for perfidious Albion".

Craig is not Moore. Craig is not going to raise an eyebrow; Moore is not going to sit by coldly as a man bleeds out. Their Bond movies play to their very different strengths.

Since their portrayals are different what is normal bond Connery? Lazenby? Moore? Dalton? Brosnan?

Just one question: Since when a commander in the Royal Navy is not a "military type" ?

I'm curious how Renner's 'Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters' film will turn out. It looks like they've been working on it for quite some time, before he became really popular, so let's hope he backs the film's release without any worry.

I forgot he was in 28 Weeks Later. Interesting that he's being compared to Craig, while Naomie Harris was in 28 Days Later.

You could say the same thing about Craig lovers.... you knew in advance who would definatly find the trailer 'perfect'...... it's not just the Craig detractors that are predictable.....

Did you think I would find the trailer perfect? I didn't, and I often get lumped in the "Craig lover" category for defending him when people post opinions that have little or no basis in factuality, which I've discussed above with factuality. Which is fine, I think the guy has what it takes to be Bond if the script allows that, and am willing to give him a chance and go into this watching to see if I was right or wrong.

A huge plus for Craig's Bond is that he seems true to the type of personality that thrives in the armed services. Having met a fair number of military types, including special forces, they tend to have that driven, target-oriented no-nonsense approach to life

Except Bond, the playboy spy and lover of fine things, was never a military type

The essence of Bond in that respect is that when he has to be, he is. After all, he is a commander. When he doesn't, he isn't. We've seen evidence that when Craig has been allowed to relax and be a playboy spy and lover of fine things (Ocean Beach Club in CR as an example), he does what you expect. He plays at a casino, admires and wins Dimitrios' Aston Martin, seduces a beautiful woman, and manages to spy efficiently both through surveillance camera records as well as by charming the OB receptionist. And does it all well and with a very light, playboyish tone. From what we've been led to believe by comments from Craig, we should expect this.

What is truly sad is that people are already making a "thug assumption" before having seen the movie. I'm not saying you are one of those. But if you're looking for Moore/Brosnan "Bond Lite", the tone of this movie doesn't scream that.

People have two different takes on Bond
    1. More of the book's complex interpretation or
    2. The cliche idealization of Bond being a superspy playboy

Watched it again last night in full screen at home(rather than on a minimized screen at work)--changed my view of it considerably. It does truly look great. I find that Scotland shot with Bond and M and the mist really striking. Roger Deakins really does a fine job establishing the shots. The shot of Bond on the boat makes it look like he's on fire--really cool. Really gorgeous stuff. I am getting excited about the film. As stated, we can't yet judge the film on the trailer. It's only meant to be a teaser. Daniel Craig has even come out and said that they have put a lot more humor and one-liners into this film, so I am relieved to know that.

who said it a terrible crime? for me is just crime, not terrible crime, what i want to say is Dalton make the character (Bond) into shakespearean wanna be, change Dalton line "shaken not stirred" with "to be or not to be"

Call me crazy, but if I had to choose, i'd rather see Bond turned into into a shakespearean character than see Bond turned into a charmless thug.

I do indeed think you are crazy in that thought. Now, you know that I love Dalton immensely as Bond, but I see little to zero difference in LTK Dalton and QOS Craig. But I do see a lot of similarities in Dalton TLD and Craig CR as far as a root portrayal of the character and after 40+ years I think I just might know what I am talking about.

You and others are stuck, and this is a bit unfair to Craig, watching one actor doing normal Bond and another doing "rookie" Bond. I don't see Dalton doing any better or any worse with Craig's material, it's the way it was written. They are meant to show Bond growing into Bond, and not Bond being Bond. My suggestion, said with respect to a fellow Daltonite, is that I am positive you will see a lot more elements of the Bond you expect to see in October/November and you (and others) are letting the previous duo as Brown M would say, "cloud your judgment".

No one here really knows what we are going to get with Craig as the normal Bond until SkyFall is released. You certainly can't fairly judge how he will be based on a teaser trailer. One thing we all do know- Bond actors change. If you can't roll with the changes by now...

Craig was the best thing about QOS but I really don't think he was similar/just as good as Dalton in that. He was good in CR but again, I don't think he is as good as Dalton was and I don't see the similarities.

I do agree with you on some things though, we can't judge the film based on the teaser, and so far Craig has only played the rookie Bond. That's why I'm looking forward to SF, I've seen Craig play rookie Bond well, now I want to see him play the normal Bond.

Forums are made for people to agree or disagree. I think Craig's Bond, in parts of CR, was as light and relaxed as Dalton's moments in TLD, and as hard as Dalton when he needed to be. CR has quite a lot of Bondian type moments where you can see what Daniel will be like as Bond, would you say they are not what you would like to see?

Glad that you have the good sense to recognize that Craig hasn't played the Bond we know yet. Any arguments that he isn't a good normal Bond are completely moot at this stage, and I'll argue that with anyone. That doesn't make me a "Craig fanboy", just someone who recognizes reality and not fantasy opinion. There are things Craig does in CR/QOS where I say to myself "that's not how normal Bond would have played it". And at times, I see the Bond I expect. I think that is what the script intended. This is why I would say that QOS was better than MR and DAD, because an incomplete script that generally gets the point of wrapping CR easily trumps winking pigeons and CGI surfing and all the nonsense and bad characters in those. Now, that said, I expect like you to see certain elements of normal Bond in this film that I haven't yet. And one thing I know for sure, if I walk in already prejudiced that I don't like the guy, I'm going to nitpick about negatives rather than put the whole picture and character into it's proper perspective.

@JBFan626, exactly; the shots are just breathtaking. Even when the teaser opens, the shot of Bond on the roof, looking over London, as his overcoat slightly blows in the wind is remarkable.

They tried to do another MR in 2002 with DAD. If you want the series to return to that hen good for you.

I really liked it. Some observations:

    1)"Country"-"England". Don't know why I like it.
2)"Agent"-"provocateur"-It is me or is it very Flemingesque? The use of French, the word play...
3)I think we will see Bond training. And not like that stupid scene in DAD, it is going to be old fashioned training, not some virtual reality sci-fi rubbish. Good.
4)The Bind girl shaving Bond: nice touch, with just enough of eroticism and a dash of Thanatos.
5)The images are dark, much darker than most Bonds, but they are not gloomy. They are lush.
6)Where is the villain? He is the big absentee of the teaser.

Whereabouts does the shot of Bond being strangled underwater fit into the story? Not the end of the PTS I'm sure. ;)

. I think StJamesSt makes a completely valid point, which under different circumstances could have come from you. You seem a bit of a contrarian - arguing purely for the sake of it.

The concern many raise about Craig is NOT that he has taken the movies in a 'different' direction (in the light of TLD and LTK, this is debatable any way) but that his depiction of Bond is so stripped of fun and enjoyment that the films actually become generic (if still entertaining) action thrillers - Bourne light, but not as good. If you think CR and QoS represent the pinacle of Bond, then fine, but if (as I believe you have stated before) you think the films have not hit their stride fully since LTK, then there is obviously something going wrong somewhere along the line. Hence the point by StJamesSt that you rubbish remains entirely relevant.

My friend, you know we speak the same language and we both share the love for all things 007, but who the hell would prefer to watch any film dubbed? It´s never well dubbed, it´s well dumbed. And to all who don´t understand english, LEARN IT! I´m sure you agree with this, being an english speaking Brazilian ;)

Sorry for the mini-rant, I just hate dubbed films with a vengeance :)

Does anyone remember the video from a few weeks ago that showed the filming of Bond running down the London street? If I recall correctly, were the cameras filming behind him, as well? I noticed the police passing by him in the scene from the trailer, so I didn't know if they would use multiple shots, or if it occurs on an entirely different street.

Or, of course, I'm just mistaken.
