This topic is for the discussion about all things DVD and blu-ray: upcoming releases, announcements of box sets you find interesting, pictures of box art for new and upcoming blu-rays/DVDs, DVD and blu-ray deals, etc. I thought it would be cool to share deals amongst one another, or even release dates for upcoming movies on home video format, so we can have more time to get excited for the release of said film.

First, this link got me interested in making this thread:

There is a Christopher Nolan Director's Collection coming out. It will be released on blu-ray on June 26th, 2012. The set contains Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Inception, Memento, and Insomnia. The price is listed at $49.99, or you can pre-order it on Amazon for just $34.99:

Here's a promo trailer for the upcoming blu-ray release of Steven Spielberg's ET:

The Avengers will be released on DVD and blu-ray on September 25th, 2012:

And finally, MGM will be releasing Death Wish II, III, and IV on blu-ray:

This of course means phase one is complete and the series now moves onto phase two. Is there a planned number of 'phases' or will Marval just keep it going for as long as they can? If there is a set number of 'phases', I think I can guess what that would be.

The Avengers box set looks awesome, but it's way too expensive IMO. Amazon.com has it at $153.30, while BOND 50 is at $186.28.

@Samuel001, I'm not too sure. I think it's cool, though, that they're shelling out all different types of 'The Avengers' home video sets: box sets, 3D set, 2D set, different disc numbers, etc.

@DC007, indeed. I enjoyed Insomnia, but I think The Prestige is much better, with one of the best twists in a film I've ever seen. I would pick up the box set, but I own Batman Begins on DVD, TDK and Inception on blu-ray, haven't seen Memento, and don't care to own Insomnia.

@gt007, I hadn't even realized. That is very steep.

@DC007, I've heard it's a great movie, and I think I sat down to watch it one time, but something else made me busy and I never got back to it. Will have to give it a watch in the near future!

Not sure if anyone is into Disney films, but Amazon is offering up quite a few coupons for some upcoming releases:

Everyone is into that game now. Selling as many editions as they can. Even Sony do the 'double-dip' with Bond films.

I suppose there is some much money to be made from home video releases these days, the era of a great release first time around is long gone.

I spotted it on blu-ray for only ten dollars the other day in a store, and was tempted to purchase it. But, I can never bring myself to buy a movie I will always own if I haven't seen it, so I'll have to find a friend who owns it.

But, people's movie views throughout my county seem to be very limited, so I doubt many around this area have even heard of Christopher Nolan.

I didn't have a link for this, but, I noticed a great deal last night, if anyone liked the movie:

Best Buy is selling 'Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows' (out this Tuesday) for $12.99 on both DVD and blu-ray, with free shipping if you order it online. I just might give in and do it; the film was 'good', not great for me, but at such a price, I may give in.

'The Amazing Spider-Man' blu-ray and DVD details for pre-order hit the web:

It's weird how films are already getting pre-order incentives and release dates as soon as they hit theaters. It happened a couple weeks after 'The Avengers' released, and it happened before 'Prometheus' - you received a free ticket to the film - and now this film, which has only been in theaters for a very short time. I wonder if studios have a better idea of the turnaround rate from theater-to-DVD, or if they just shell it out to get people interested as soon as they watch the movie.

There is going to be a collectors limited edition version for Indiana Jones but I can't find any info on what to expect. Anyone heard any rumours on the Boxset design or enclosures / extras?

@myworldisenough, not sure if there has been an announcement on extras, and while I hadn't checked the other link in quite some time, here's some information, along with the box art cover:

@0BradyM0Bondfanatic7, my thoughts exactly. I'm surprised they haven't set a release date for pre-order of 'Bond 29' yet.

If I told you that, I would be lying. I wish it was excluded, the mess it was.

"Included in the Indiana Jones: The Complete Adventures Blu-ray set are all four films in the Indiana Jones series: Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, the latter of which is already available on Blu-ray, and is also known to be a complete 'trainwreck' in the series."

Granted, I edited the ending of that quote, but that's how it should have read.

Well, when I buy it the collection will sit on my shelf, mysteriously missing one Blu-ray case, almost as if the people who made the packaging goofed...
