* First time Rosol is qualified for Wimbledon
* Lowest ranked player (100th) to defeat Nadal in a Grand Slam
* Poorest result in a Grand Slam for Nadal in 7 years
* Federer almost certain of overtaking Nadal as #2 in the ATP ranking.

Lukas Rosol my new god.... he completly totaled Nadal !!

I've been watching Tennis for the last 14 years..... I've never seen such coolness under pressure !

That is great, i've never really liked Nadal. He sure is a great tennis player, but there is something that i find irritating about him. But a great game!

Incredible result, I wonder what the odds were at the start of play. Let's hope other bigs names continue to fall to make men's Tennis less predictable and interesting again!

Fantastic achievement! Certainly makes Murray's half of the draw a tad easiar! Unless he bottles it again?

Queen's jubilee, Olympics, 50th Year for Bond with a Britishness to Skyfall, Andy in the final...yes it has to be Federer.

So happy for Andy! Great, great play.
This is tough for me; I want Federer to win AND I'd love Murray to win. Darn.
Probably rooting a bit more for Roger. Hope its a great match and I wish I could see it!

Oh - can we change this thread's title now, please?

I can't stand the smuggery of Wimbledon - and I have friends who live there (it's almost unbearable when the thing's on there :p ). Still, congrats to Murray - a great achievement (so far). And a brilliant one in the eye to the establishment git that is Henman.

All the same, I do fear that the 'nation' (i.e. much of the English middle-class) still won't properly take to Murray even if he does win the thing, as he'd surely deserve. Why? Because he's gruff and dull (i.e. a pretty normal guy) and Scottish.

I'm going to stop writing about Wimbledon now because I may never stop and end up having to use the swear filter. A lot... ;)

I agree St George with the smuggery of Wimbledon etc.

I find it hard to take to Murray as a character because he just seems so miserable all the time! He does however come across as a normal guy and seems humble as oppose to some sports stars who think they are gods gift. Congrats to Murray on a fantastic achievement thus far. He has exceeded my expectations, I thought he would have choked as us Brits always seem to do in tennis but good luck to him in the final!

The bloke is a die hard jock which is his pergoative and fair play to him. When England were playing in the world cup in 2010 he said he was supporting the krauts which as a proud Scotsman he should be saying.

Just dont ask me to shed a tear when Rog (Federer not Moore) smashes him all over the court.

Its the Scots who bang on about independence - well lets give it to them then. And the rest of them. Oh but I'm forgetting we dont get a vote on the issue like all the rest and we're not allowed our own parliament. We just get our taxes siphoned off to pay for their dole and NHS.

You've just reminded me of those cringy tennis references in that film.

Ha! And Serena won again. All I can say is I have never cared for the Williams sisters at all, stemming from the time they were teenagers and not yet pros and already had a rep for bad mouth, bad attitude, sour and unsportsmanlike conduct. I don't even enjoy their style of play. So I mostly just don't watch them anymore.

Waiting for results of the Federer-Murray match, though; that I am interested in!

I've made up my mind on the Men's final today and who I will be supporting.

It's simple, I've based it on smiles per minute - AM never smiles...Rog smiles all the time.

So I'm going with the smiler. Come on Rog stuff that miserable dour excuse of young man. It feels like treason but do I want a miserable champion er no?

Plus I figured out why AM raises is fingers to the sky at the end of his matches. He's reminding himself to raise the sides of his mouth to form a smile....that Lendl, what a brilliant coach.

Well, to be fair, I think Andy would be smiling rather a lot if he did win ...!
  • Yes but I suspect he'll be smiling inside...lol.

Serena is a hack player... all she can do is hit the ball as hard as she can... no grace in her movements at all.

I'm not entirely sure who I want to win. I like the thought of Murray winning as he would be the first Scottish/English person to emerge victorious in 70 something years, but at the same time it appeals to me to see an older man grab the trophy.

Well done Roger !!!!! Fed is now guaranteed to be World #1 for 2 weeks, which will make him beat Sampras' record of 286 weeks at #1 !!! <:-P

I don't care much for Tennis, running around all over the place in hot weather for a silly little ball insults my intelligence. Give me sitting under a shady tree with some Budweiser and a good book to read any day. I used to watch McEnroe years back when he was winning titles, he was a bit of a character, but now it's just something approaching apathy, I still think Sampras was maybe the best ever, but I don't really know much about the sport. Apparently no British player has won the title since 1977, and that was when The Spy Who Loved Me was released. Pity really for the guy today who lost, but I'm sure his moment will come..
