Christian Bale: Where to after Batman?

edited July 2012 in General Movies & TV Posts: 825
Well the sadness that his Batman days are over. It change him from the Villain he was in American Phsyco & 2000s Shaft. Well there should a role for him. He can be in the movies which are made either movies version like Gunsmoke or T.J Hooker. Somewhere after the Batman days. Following the footsteps of Val Kilmer. When he went from Batman to The Saint which was a failure but he was great in both. Or what I started the movie version of The Professionals portraying either Brodie or Doyle.

There is no end. Things are just beginning for him, and he will always be Batman. Once you wear the cape and cowl you will never lose that title. Just like every Bond actor that wields the PPK and owns the name. You never lose that.

That so? Who of the previous Batman actors is inevitably associated with that particular role?

Bale was an established actor before and during Batman, and he will continue to be one.

Anyhow, the part were you see the face is Bruce Wayne, and people don´t think so often of Bruce Wayne, they think of Batman.

I would imagine he will be involved in the Terminator franchise again wouldn't he?

They better get their $&(% together if they continue on that same Terminator series. Him and Anton Yelchin were the only good parts of that movie.
I'm kind of under the impression that the next Terminator film will do it's best to ignore 'Salvation'

I never said that they are known from that time on as being in that role. I mean that what all the Batman actors share is the role and the fact that they have been in the suit unites them and can't be taken away.

Ok, now I get your point. But I bet Clooney for one wouldn´t mind if it would be taken off him ;-) .

When this was still them old forums, I very much enjoyed the competence concerning Bond under one roof with a multitude of threads about other films, and that hasn´t changed. I like films in general, and I don´t know any other site I find as comfortable as this one.

I'd like to see Bale take a few villain roles. He's done the hero thing with Batman very well, but, as we saw in American Psycho, he's got that villainous, psychotic edge down to a science and it would be great to see him use it again.

I want Bale to continue with a variety of roles, not so keen for him to be psycho killer/villain again. He has the range obviously to do many kinds of parts. But I hope some nice meaty drama or thriller is coming his way.

While I don't think he would make a great Bond, I think he would make a good Bond villain.

Exactly. Anytime Batman comes up George curls into a ball and looks like he wants to disappear. And deservedly so! Val probably would want to be Batman again, back when he was actually in shape.

My understanding is that Batman Forever was a big hit and they wanted Val back and he said no thanks. I think once was enough in that suit for him. I do like him very much, and hope he gets a better role SOON. He is overdue.

I don't know how anyone can consider Batman Forever and especially Batman and Robin as "big hits". Maybe financially, but in the long run none of that matters from a fan standpoint. Both need to be suffocated with a pillow.

    From Wikipedia:

Val Kilmer decided not to reprise the role from Batman Forever. Director Joel Schumacher admitted he had difficulty working with Kilmer on Forever. "He sort of quit," Schumacher said, "and we sort of fired him." Kilmer said he was not aware of the fast track production and was already committed to The Saint (1997).

A bit of both it seems.

Good on Val. He knows when he's on a sinking ship. George knew it too, and unfortunately knew he was contractually obligated to stay.

It's the same kind of reason Keaton left too I believe. He wanted to do others things and not sign onto a film directed by Schumacher that had a really bad script!

Yeah, but Mike got lucky enough to be attached to two good Batman films. Burton's may not be the greatest of all interpretations in my view, but they are true to the character, have a great mix of darkness and fun to them, and Tim's Gotham is the quintessential fictional Gotham City. Schumacher's Gotham however looks like a set of amateur art sets with discos lights blaring around them. I can't think of one good thing about either of the films, except Nicole and that both ended, but that isn't a point in their favor.

Keaton was up for Batman Forever up until he finally sat down with Schumacher and saw what 'direction' he intended to take the Batfilms. Basically he said 'sure I'll do it-- but you'll have to pay me like a billion gajillion dollars'. I remember as a kid thinking 'noooo why would you not want to play Batman anymore Mr Keaton???'
    Turns out he was smart!

But there was definitely a time that he intended to come back. I even saw a prototype Batman Forever fig online with Keaton's likeness

Christian Bale will not be remembered as Batman/Bruce Wayne. He is, always will be, above any stereotype. Why? Because there are many to pick. For example, for me, he´ll always be Patrick Bateman. For some he´s John Connor. For most, he´s Batman. And I bet he´ll be many more. The guy is a good actor. Period. One of my favourite films is Empire of the Sun. There´s no telling what he´ll do next. Guy´s a weight-changing kameleon.

Some people are just smart, thankfully. I just remembered that, even today, I read that Mads won´t be playing the villain in Thor2. Good for him!

A goodnight sleap mabey, don't know yet or he sound sick in TDKR, but in TDK he sound very Bat Man.

Mabey Bale and Nolan or Bale and Rob Bowman should consider a Reign of Fire 2. Note: Not longer then 125 minutes. In specialy for Batman Begins i believe Reign Of Fire whas a kind of source. It also be nice to see Izabella Scorupco again.

And For Nolan, Thomas Crown Afair 2 with Pierce Brosnan wait on a directer and mabey Michael Cain can play a cameo in that movie. Nolan, Brosnan, Caine and studio's MGM/Fox/Sony who brings you Thomas Crown Afair (Sony/MGM/Fox), Avatar & Titanic (Fox) and QOS (MGM/Sony/Fox) should be a big hit or a flop (Die Another Day (MGM/Fox), Casino Royale (MGM/Sony) but we hoped on the best of course.

@M_Balje, I doubt we'll ever see the long-rumored 'The Topkapi Affair,' which originally had Angelina Jolie attached. I wish we would.

Even before and after the Batman series, Bale was a very popular and famous guy. I'm sure he'll have even more roles to tackle now, and though it's sad to see the series finish come next weekend, it's also nice knowing he will move on to new things.

It was the sequel that they were going to do after 'The Thomas Crown Affair,' but the director dropped out and it fell into development hell. I doubt it ever sees the light of day.

I thought he was, but after two directors have left the project, I don't see it happening. Apparently, this was going to involve him stealing a precious diamond out of the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul; sounds vaguely familiar to 'After the Sunset.' But, I would enjoy seeing it, and can only hope it does manage to happen. But, the remake that starred Brosnan came out in 1999, so I don't see it happening.

But, then again, we have had sequels to films that were released longer ago than that, so time will tell.

There was a 60's film called Topkapi about thieves; I don't remember ... Peter Ustinov? Anyone recall?
