There was a radio play for BBC Radio 4 that he did too.

Having recently listened to BBC radios excellent dramatisation of OHMSS it struck me that if eon won't allow anybody else to commercialise the Bond franchise on the screen perhaps they would allow the fabulous Moneypenny Diaries and Higson's equally excellent Young Bond books to be adapted for radio?
They'd both make for excellent adaptations and would give the BBC a point of difference vis a vis retreading the Bond books.
Maybe they could even look at adapting some of the continuation Bonds? Licence Renewed, Devil May Care & Solo?
    Thoughts please.

Solo has been read on the BBC radio, I have a copy somewhere on my computer.

As for OHMSS what a great casting for the Radio 007.

Never Send Flowers (1993) by John Gardner gets my vote for the continuation Bond radio treatment, but then you know that, right? ;)

It's frustrating that once they're gone they're gone forever, unless there's a link to the other adaptations somewhere? I've got Dr No and Goldfinger saved to Mini Disc when I recorded them off the radio (they're the only reason I haven't chucked my Mini Disc recorded!)

For you or anyone who missed the OHMSS radio play on Saturday, you can listen at this link here:

@SaintMark, I'm not proposing readings although I'm not against them, I'm talking dramatisations and yes, how right you are, the casting for OHMSS was fabulous.
The BBC do such a great job with these things but I can't understand why they aren't available on CD after transmission. The Le Carre dramatisations are all available. Probably a blocking move from eon?

I am not sure but perhaps something to do with audio gogo.

I was looking for the Cumberbatch Gaiman "Neverwhere" and it was no longer available.

There was some talk that they were going to release the FRWL radio play on audio CD if I remember. I think some of the radio dramatisations from 2008 onwards may be available on You Tube.

There's a new James Bond Radio Play 25 July on BBC Radio 4.

It's an adaptation of Diamonds Are Forever.

No news on the cast yet - but for times and other details then check out my Blog:

Thanks for the heads up. I hope that Stephens continues. His voice just sounds perfect for the literary Bond.

This is fantastic. It's coming just a year after the last one. With five now adapted, could there be a want to get them all done?

I prefer Rufus Sewell. Stephens is a bit too posh.

Just picked up the Rufus Sewell set of audio books in fact. I doubt I'll get through all of them any time soon but nice to have them. Samantha Bond narrates TSWLM too.

If it's the same as mine (round tin box-set, without TB and OHMSS) they're damn good. Not listened to them all yet but have enjoyed those I've listened to.
  • Given that eon's stranglehold on IF's characters doesn't extend to radio it would be great if the BBC could turn their attention to 'The Moneypenny Diaries' and Higson's 'Young Bond'.
It would be good for both of these excellent series to be given the attention they deserve.
