Absolutely tragic thing to wake up to. I woke up this morning looking forward to see the movie. I make myself a cup of coffee to see this on the news, and just see people sprinting out of the theater, blood all over them. My condolences to all of the victims and bystanders who fell under this tragedy. So, so sad.

Probably an Avengers fan and I'm not joking. Sweeping generalisation but fanboys in the US are borderline insane.

With an American election months away? Neither candidate will go against the gun lobby? Which as an outsider from the UK is pretty shocking also to see.

Hope they do the right thing after another incident like this? And just forget about getting elected and sort the gun laws out?

I'm going to see this tonight - and now because some arsehole trying to make a name for himself has committed this unspeakable act, me, and many like me won't be able to enjoy the film because the deaths of those innocent people will be foremost in our minds as we watch. The real sad thing though is that it won't change anything. Within a few months or a year a similar thing will happen and more innocent lives will be lost. R.I.P.

Why must people have to read about such tragedies? Even worse, why must people endure them? What makes you want to suit up and gun down a theater full of innocent people?

@Lancaster007, my thoughts exactly. Now all the moviegoers and I will be terrified and worried the whole time about the "What if?"s.

We should never let events like this as tragic as they are, stop us from going out and living our lives. All we can do is remember them, and condem those who carried out these events.

I hope you can go and just relax and try to watch what i imagine is a great movie!

if someone is crazy enough to want to walk into a theater in full riot gear with a bulletproof vest, gas mask, tear gas and want to murder a room full of innocent people - amending gun laws wont make a difference.. someone that crazy will find a way to get a gun...... all it does is punish those who respect the law, not the ones who don't

I'll be able to relax, and hopefully enjoy it too, it's just knowing that people lost their lives during what should have been a safe, happy and enjoyable event. I live in a part of the world that is fairly safe and free of these kinds of random acts of outrageous violence.

Well they managed to arrest him, so I'm now curious as to what his motive shall be. This whole tragedy is just a disgusting thing to read, makes me feel sick to my stomach.

    And apperently a baby. :-?

They never should have been at this movie showing in the first place.

I know you weren't suggesting that they deserved it Saint Mark, I would agree that it's not the kinda movie you take kids to, but even so, a baby should be able to go to the cinema without leaving in a body bag. Terrible news-not the thing what you want to be waking up to. They've apparently arrested the guy, so let's hope there's some justice coming.

Mark, you are so right. People don't realize that crying babies are an annoyance to people who are trying to watch the film. A baby should be at home at midnight in it's crib, not at a movie. That is so selfish on the parent's part, they are thinking about themselves before their child. If you can't get care then go when you can. I would have never considered taking my children at that age to a movie, especially at that hour. Same thing with ringing cell phones, loud talking, so many people are so self absorbed and have no consideration.

My heart breaks for the innocent people who died, especially the children. We are too humane when it comes to punishment in these cases and need stronger and more public deterrents so people know the consequences of such actions.

Sadly my friend you make a fair, genuine, and probably realistic observation.

Canada has brilliant gun laws in that regard. It's very difficult to actually get a license, you have to reregister any weapons on a regular basis, and there are a series of delays along the lines. In short, it's time consuming and discouraging.

the one problem we do have, is that anyone can simply walk up and purchase a handgun without any sort of license needed... granted, background checks are done - but i believe you should be licensed to have a gun for home/recreation as well as the concealed carry license... i view it being no different than being licensed to drive a vehicle.

My mom said that the baby who died was along with his/her brother or sister, and the father/mother probably bought the baby along to help it sleep? I mean, I'm not criticizing anyone, I just don't think a midnight showing of an action drama is the place for a baby. RIP.

I'd be concerned that someone dressed like that was just a die hard fan going to see the premier. Obviously, the gun gave that away. Terrible tragedy.

didn't you know.. babies are lulled to sleep by the sound of loud explosions and gunfire.... throw on Rambo and they are out like a light every time..

seriously though, i'd hate to be in their situation and can't imagine what it must feel like - thats a decision they'll be second guessing for the rest of their lives...... it's just a damn shame......

Wow, this is really sad. I didn't really know how to react when i first read it. It is a shame that someone sees something in killing innocent people....

And now when it just days from the one year " anniversary " since the massacre in Norway too.

May all the victims rest in peace and i send all my condolences to the familys of all the vounded and murdered.

It doesn't matter how close or far from home it is, when I read of tragedies like this - Oslo, the CO massacre, VT - it's deeply upsetting and sickening to read. And just like a previous poster said, it doesn't matter how tragic this is, because something else will saunter along in the coming months and happen again, just like this. I can't believe it.

it doesn't matter the country, color, or language.. we are all human beings, and we all laugh and hurt the same.

Very, very good news. It would have felt so much worse to know such a young baby, barely into this world yet, had to be dragged to a film just to lose his or her life.

Yes indeed. These sort of things shocks people, around the world. Here in Sweden we have live streaming from Denver to follow everything...

President Obama is now speaking on the event.

This is what I like to see: he's putting hate and politics aside for the day, and just leaving it for prayer and condolences.

Police are now saying the suspect's apartment is booby-trapped, and they're currently working toward disarming any and all traps. The suspect is apparently up to receive a maximum of 35 years. That's it?!

Swedish newspaper has named this man to the " Batman Murder " @-) And of course some people says that the movie was an inspiration for his actions...

And the french premiere and the interviews with the actors is all cancelled.

... thats probably what they are saying, just to start off... a premeditated act of violence that took the lives of 14 people - he'll get life, if not the death penalty.. just watch.

i would like to think, that the premiere and interviews were canceled (and rescheduled) because of the events that transpired.. not because they believe the film is a monger for violence.... if it be the latter, that's ignorance in it's purest form........ but they are french, so......

@haserot I am pretty sure it is rescheduled to a another day. Not that the movie is something that can inspire to kill people.
