I'll have to alter my list now, and am going to keep it set on 2012:

    1.) 'Skyfall'
    2.) 'Django Unchained'
    3.) 'Taken 2'
    4.) 'Argo'
    5.) 'Lincoln'

Some very close mentions are 'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey' and 'Sinister.'

    1) Skyfall
    2) Argo/Lincoln (straight tie really; both great historical dramas)
    3) The Master
    4) Taken 2
    5) Die Hard 5 (if it even comes out?)

Check out the Die Hard thread on these forums. It's been set for 14th February 2013, since October 2011. It's just been announced filming has completed.

This thread needs more Mad Max love. No respect for the classics these days :P

    I don't have respect for remakes/reboots.
  • I don't have respect for remakes/reboots.

CR and Batman Begins were reboots :P

Anyway, lucky for you it's not a remake or a reboot. It's a sequel, directed by the director of the first two films (who is also the creator of the entire series). They've just pulled a Bond/Batman and recast Max (who is now TOM HARDY!).

Sorry, let me clarify. I don't like actual remakes or reboots of past films. Like a Psycho remake or whatever. A Mad Max, Bond, or Batman one don't bother me because they are all a series of films and not one single film like the example I mentioned.

Ah, I get ya. Yeah I agree. Seems like everything is getting a reboot/remake these days.

Consider me IN for this movie! Loved that! :-bd
  • Aside from Skyfall, which is the obvious Number One...

    - A Good Day To Die Hard
    - Jack Reacher
    - Argo
    - Rush
    - A Most Wanted Man

My new list now; I really need to rethink these lists more, as I keep finding myself disappointed:

    2.) 'Django Unchained'
    3.) 'Argo'
    4.) 'Lincoln'
5.) 'A Good Day To Die Hard'

I just watched the trailer for 'Hitchcock,' and it didn't really move me. A film about a superb director (played by a fantastic actor under seriously talented make-up) on his journey to create his most famous film, led by a great cast, including Mirren, just screams excellence. But, the film just looks a tad dull to me.
  • The new trailer was brilliant, but Die Hard has gone from my list because I'm so excited for the return of Mad Max.

    1) Mad Max 4 Fury Road
    2) Die Hard 5
    3) Skyfall (if I saw a bit more of Django Unchained that might be here)
    4) Django Unchained
    5) Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D

    3) A good day to die hard
    4) Hitchcock
    5) Les Miserables (Anne Hathaway will be huge, she has moved me again only by a trailer this time).

    It's obvious.
  • After reading about all these good reviews SF is now tied with Mad Max at no 1. Die Hard still hasn't reclaimed the top spot.
