I can promise it'll be decent, friend. I've been listening to their podcasts since the start and man, do they know how to discuss films! I am so looking forward to it.

I shall check out their earlier podcasts then, as I have reletively recently entered the world of podcasts, and have found them perfect for when I'm doing the dishes and other boring stuff.

Have you heard How Did This Get Made? It's a podcast where they discuss really bad movies (which can be a guilty pleasure, of course). That might be up your street ;)

I'll give it a try, friend.

Incidentally, I listen to podcasts during tedious work at home as well. I also have them on my mp3 player as a fine companion for when I go to work. ;-)

    Thanks, @JamesPage.

Additional information: Stuart, one of the hosts, will also review one Fleming novel every week on NPP's sister podcast Books and Nachos. These are exciting times for me, a Bond fan as well as a Now Playing fan.

I listened to this yesterday while I was out enjoying the nice weather and I have to say that I wasn't at all impressed.

There were some good points made and I'd certainly agree that there are things to criticize about DN. But what turned me off of the podcast was the one guy who seemed to go out of his way to make fun of the film. He seemed (to me, anyway) to be doing the thing where his main concern was "How do I shoehorn a joke in here?". He's the type of personality that I encounter on some hipster-ish websites that really turns me off of them.

If it was a ten minute feature I could maybe get past it but an hour and a half of my life? No way.

Wow, a bit harsh, isn't it, @thelordflasheart ? ;-) I think you ought to give these guys another chance. They're among the most celebrated film podcasters of the time, and they do understand the craft of good and intelligent podcasting I think. Sure, they weren't too excited about DN but that isn't a problem quite sure. And whoever the joker is you talk about, Arnie, Stuart or Brock, they surely don't mean to be hipster-ish. ;-)

  • Great podcast (even though I must say I wish that the episodes were a bit longer, in comparison the Batman episodes averaged 2+ hours).
Glad FRWL got the three recommends it deservs.

Yes, I agree, the FRWL episode is great to listen to. I'm glad they appreciate the film and applaud its many positives.

I really like the GF podcast. The conflict over logic / realism gets resolved, I think, in the best way possible.
  • Absoloutely loving these. Interesting and funny opinions. I agree one of the hosts is rather annoying, but I still haven't laughed so much at a podcast. Great stuff!

I wonder who the annoying one is. ;-) Arnie? Brock? Stuart?
  • They all sound the same! I think it's Stuart or Arnie. The 'newbie'.

That'd be Arnie. :-) To be fair, he doesn't like the genre of spy films, so much made obvious I think, but I wouldn't say he's annoying. I've been listening to these guys for ages and frankly, they are all great blokes! :-)
  • He's annoying... in a good way. If that makes sense. He does make some interesting points, but I think sometimes he tends to go overboard. (Like Simon Mayo)

I really enjoy his opinions though. It's a really interesting listen. I love hearing other Bond fans' opinions.
  • Great show again and Brock is a great new host IMO (I know he was on some earlier retrospectives but I have only listened to Jacob, Stuart and Arnie before Bond). Regarding Arnie I too think he is a little annoying some episodes (Dr No and Batman Begins episodes in particular).. but hey,, you need different perspectives to get a great discussion!

IMO Stuart is the most interesting of the bunch! :) I'm a Stuart kind of guy.

    Agreed!
  • Wasn't the Thunderball podcast supposed to be out today?
  • Thunderball is out. Interesting episode... :D

Interesting indeed. However, I disagree with most of the criticism. Then again, I am a TB fan, one of those... ;-)

I listened to the 4 episodes on the films plus 2 on the books and I had a great fun. Although I don't agree with a lot of things they say it's interesting! But they do have a point in some things.

I'm not the biggest TB fan and I also don't agree with most of the criticism!
