Ha, that reminds me of DAD when Halle says " I think i got the THRUST of it". Brozza looks annoyed in his next shot a few seconds later (can you really blame him).
Just adding my opinion: I like TND a lot and I especially enjoy the bike ride/chopper chasse. I thought it was exciting, fun, and well paced.
I too like it, thought it was a great, thrilling piece of action. Only bit I'm curious about is the enigmatic smile giving by the Chinese lady after Bond and Lin have just demolished her room!
Motorcycle chases rarely work onscreen. See Batman or The Bourne Legacy for the latest examples.
I liked the chase in Batman and in TND (Bourne Legacy isn't out yet over here), and I think motorbike chases do work.
Happy Felix at the end of Licence to Kill.
It's totally wrong for the movies' dark and gritty vibe, and it's also out of character. Felix has just lost wife and limb in an extremely horrible situation, and Bond went on a vengeance trip for him. Yet he's happy, checking out the nurse, talking about going fishing.
I understand they want te audience to know Leiter was still alive. But it could have been done way better.
I myself came up with this scene to replace it:
Bond recieves a call from the hospital. A nurse or doctor talks to him. In the BG we see Felix. They tell Bond that Felix is going to make it, but that he'll be wheelchair bound for the rest of his live. Giving the nature of his injuries, and how he came about them, they figure Felix could really use a friend right now, someone whose around him, helps him get back on his feet (not literally ofcourse), to which Bond promtly replies "Yes, I'll be there!"
See: this is more dramatic, realistic, and we have Bond really comitting to a friend, helping them in a way that has nothing to do with their violent line of work. Maybe it's too melodramatic, but it just seems like a fitting end to the Bond/Leiter connection.
What! Motorcycle chases are far more exciting than car chases, they are more dangerous to those involved and there is a certain vulnerability being on a bike. I love motorcycle chases and would rather sit through a dozen of them than another car chase with police cars crashing into each other ad nauseam!
Why? I love the Q scenes in LTK, they're funny and they show Q cares about Bond.
True, and I would have praised these scenes in almost every other Bond film. But LTK's darker and more dramatic take on Bond, combined with a persistent tone of revenge and pure rage, is suddenly disturbed when out of the blue, happy fun turns up in the form of Q. In a film where Bond puts a knife against a beautiful girl's throat and brutally threatens to gut her if she makes a sound, I could have done without explosive toothpaste or a microphone concealed in a broomstick.
That's the point! You don't like it because it is plot and adds to the story? What? And not to mention that ending scene is the best part of the film.
Nope, sorry. i meant it was unnecessary plot.
The ending is good, but i meant NEAR the ending. just before Bond heads up to Greene's hotel.
Agreed. The two last scenes are the best in the movie.
The long boring rescue on the Liparus tanker as Bond frees the various crews, that seemed to go on forever, The Spy Who Loved Me
Any attempt by Xenia Onatopp to dispatch men with her thighs, Bond included
Any showing of David Hedison in Live and Let Die
Actually I liked DH in LALD, I think he worked well with old Roger, what I didn't like was bringing him back for LTK, that was a mistake on the part of the producers who should have kept the actor (John Terry) from TLD, who was more suited to Dalton's Bond and closer in age. DH was like Dalt's grandad! That is the only serious issue I have with LTK (oh, and that they changed the title from Licence Revoked).
Sounds good to me - I have to agree if I was Felix and I have just lost my leg and wife then the last thing I would be wanting to do is smile and flirt with the nurses
Dr. No - None. Probably a surprise to many of you as DN is admittedly a slower film, but for some reason it has worked for me
From Russia With Love - None
Goldfinger - None...yes - I love GF
Thunderball - Cut the underwater scenes' runtime by 50%
You Only Live Twice - That helicopter battle has aged terribly - worse than the DN rear-projections if you ask me. An overall trim of 5-10 minutes
On Her Majesty's Secret Service - Less of Bond imitating Hillary Bray...or dropping the dubbed voice altogether
Diamonds Are Forever - The scene where the woman turns into an ape (what the hell was that all about?), Blofeld as a woman; the whole movie needed about 10-15 minutes trimmed come to think of it
Live and Let Die - The majority of JW Pepper, Rosie's scenes, the plane escape scene with the old woman, snip the boat chase in half...another one that could have benefitted from an overall trimming of roughly 10-15 minutes
The Man with the Golden Gun - The slide whistle (naturally), all of JW Pepper, sumo wrestler's ass cheeks, Mary Goodnight's talking scenes etc.
The Spy Who Loved Me - Moore's line, "I've had lunch, but I've seemed to have missed dessert." Ick. Jaws dropping the rock on his feet
Moonraker - The 'Bondola', all of the scenes with Jaws and Goldie Locks, Magnificent Seven music, the horrible cable car fight, Jaws' reaction face when he realizes he's about to go over the waterfall
For Your Eyes Only - The pre-titles sequence and Margaret Thatcher, either get rid of Bibi or reduce her screen-time dramatically
Octopussy - George of the Jungle wail, checking his watch in the gorilla suit, the hot air balloon
A View to a Kill - Beach boys, Tanya Robert's scenes, Bond and May Day's love scene (yikes), the French cab driver, those AWFUL fistfights especially the one at the stables, firetruck chase with the stupid sheriff
The Living Daylights - Love the film, but was never too keen on the cello case or the scene where the Aston uses the garage as cover. Also where the busty russian agent stuffs the guy in her cleavage to distract him...meh. Sorry, TLD, I'm nitpicky only because I love you ;)
Licence to Kill - "I love James SOOO much!", Dalton's line "Looks like he came to a dead end", Felix in the hospital at the end, the winking fish
GoldenEye - I'd say cut Boris' screen-time by at least half if not more
Tomorrow Never Dies - Cut down the bike chase and the final gun battle by half
The World Is Not Enough - The awkward ski action scene, Brosnan and Elektra's confrontation ("Drop the act!")
Die Another Day - All of Halle Berry's scenes, CGI parasailing, the virtual Moneypenny/Bond love scene, cut down the amount of one liners by roughly 75%
Casino Royale - Honestly, none
Quantum of Solace - All of Gregory Beam's scenes
Oh, a little harsh, aren't we?
I'd also cut out the bit in QOS where Mathis says his name is a code name.
