and 23 is number of MJ.Michael Jordan not Michael Jackson :).
Heck Casino Royale 67 is just as official as NSNA and the others. It's a spoof, yes, but it's official.
So I keep with EON when counting the Bond X films, but keep explaining to anyone who says that NSNA and CR67 aren't official. ;)
So Bond 23 is the 3rd Craig flick!
but do i consider it part of the "official" MGM/EON series?... of course not - neither film was produced by either company..... they are Bond films - but just not cannon IMO...
I most of the time prefer not to count it as a real Bond film, because the production shows just too many ups and downs. Eon´s Bond films all had their whimsical moments, but they managed to forge the whole thing into something so bizzarre that inconsistencies even make sense. NSNA didn´t manage so well, be it the M scenes, which look as if they were shot inside a broom closet, or the entry to the scene where Bond is giving Domino a massage, which looks like clumsy desperation to put in girls in bikinis, or the deflated finale of the film.
But what keeps me most from liking the film as a whole, despite it having many great moments, is that it´s more busy with Sean-nostalgy than with putting on a big show or a great thrill.
Stricly and technically speaking, Daniel Craig is the 7th EON James Bond (all media included), 8th portrayal of Ian Fleming's James Bond (all media included) but only the 6th cinematographic EON James Bond
Bond 23 is the 23rd of the EON productions with 007 in the leading role.
THEN we'd have some debate, lol
If I want to watch the story of Thunderball with Sean Connery, I watch Thunderball. Never Say Never Again is a poor re-imagining of it. Also, I've often wondered why Sean Connery did NSNA when Thunderball was supposed to have been his favourite appearance as Bond.
@Volante If you´re curious read Robert Sellers´ book ´Battle for Bond´. I think Connery was long time under contract when things turned out not the way they were intended.
