I have zero interest in The Joker. There's enough tragedy of politics in real-life I don't want to hear more of it when I turn to entertainment. A vehicle for self-righteous partisans.

Looking forward to The Batman and Birds of Prey, however.

I can relate to your feelings exactly. With Superman, to make a movie on him in the way I just described, would be a dream goal for me. Using Brainiac and Metallo as the villains.

I also now realize that's why Robert De Niro is in The Joker. He's Trump's number one basher, and he won't do his famous method acting anymore because that's all he can focus on. Sad, really. But end rant.

    Agreed with all of this

I didn’t care about The Joker when it was announced and now this app feels less like a film and more about a political statement and sorry Hollywood I don’t care about any political statement from you whether it be for the right or left

The Batman I don’t know i could get interested in it

Bird of prey is also interesting but I don’t know

I would love Batman and Superman to have films with different villains as they both have some great foes that have never been on screen before

Here's also hoping that maybe we'll see some of Batman's allies in costumes this time around. The last thing we need is a another Batman solo movie of Bruce Wayne/Batman trying to figure out who he is. Nightwing and Batgirl please! It would be like another Superman movie with Lex Luthor or General Zod as the only villain!

”Even though director Cathy Yan has reportedly come up with some very cool costumes for the lead characters in the movie, it's said that the filmmaker has gone for a "far less flashy design concept."

That doesn't mean the likes of Huntress and Black Canary won't be decked out in something resembling the source material, of course, but it sounds like we should expect an aesthetic more along the lines of Suicide Squad. Here hoping Black Mask still has his, well, mask, eh?”

    I’m preparing myself for disappointment.

Dalton as Alfred would be awesome, but now he's tied up on Doom Patrol. Still, John Wesley Shipp has played several different characters on The Flash tv show, so who knows these days?

According to comments from test screenings I've read online, it's surprisingly great. Much more action packed than the first trailer indicated.

Judging by the first Trailer, I really wonder how this film can be great, surprisingly or not.

Aquaman is now officially a member of the $1 billion club. It should pass The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises in the coming week, and may end up also overtaking Captain America: Civil War's total world wide earnings.

I haven't seen Aquaman, but I highly doubt it's near The Dark Knight's quality.

More mixed reactions. I trust Matt Reeves, but I hope we get someone to go with him.

It isn't, but it brings that delicious cocktail of silly fun that audiences cannot resist.

Birds of Prey (release date: February 7, 2020) has started filming today.

I'm hoping if Penguin is true that he's A villain and not THE main one, although given how long ago Batman Returns was, he's certainly up again for big screen reinterpretation.

I saw somewhere that Robbie was doing some skating training. Roller Derby Harley like the comics maybe?
  • I wonder if this is a Guardians of the Galaxy/Thor Ragnarok moment for DC: they're realizing they can have more fun, lighten the palette, and still make huge box office.

Maybe this will lighten things up a bit from now on?

Production for Fantastic Beasts 3 has been pushed back to late 2019 (was due to start this summer), which opens up Ezra Miller's schedule for The Flash to start filming this summer instead (and maybe get a November 2020* release if Fantastic Beasts gets pushed back from that month to summer 2021).

    * If so, we would get 3 DCEU films next year: Birds of Prey, Wonder Woman 1984 and The Flash. Still unsure when The Batman will come (summer 2021 alongside 'Indiana Jones 5' ?).

"What does the success of Aquaman mean for the DC Universe?

We all feel like we've turned a corner now. We're playing by the DC playbook, which is very different than the Marvel playbook. We are far less focused on a shared universe. We take it one movie at a time. Each movie is its own equation and own creative entity. If you had to say one thing about us, it's that it always has to be about the directors."
