Leto isn't just a musician, he's a phenomenal actor and from what I've heard his take on Joker is a very different incarnation of what Ledger did. Leto's Joker is a more business savvy and orientated character compared to his predecessors.

They're just trying to 'recapture the magic' by copying Ledger and changing the look.

For better or for worse, Jared Leto's Joker isn't copying Ledger. He looks very much like his own thing.

Exactly - he looks different, but the same underneath. I'm sure this pop singer is very talented but they should have hired someone else. That would've made more sense. But like I said, Chris Nolan has hired Harry Styles to star in his WW2 drama 'Dunkirk', so maybe this is a trend that is starting.

That's actually not what I said about the actor Jared Leto at all.

Jared Leto is an Oscar winning actor.

When I heard Leto's voice in the first trailer he was in, I thought he was imitating Heath Ledger, but he seems to have subtly changed his voice since then, which pleases me. I still think his Joker looks like sh*t and won't be anywhere near as powerful as Ledger's performance.

There's something rather Batman and Robin 'esque about Leto's appearance as the Joker to me. Camp. I hope he is able to rise above it with his performance.

You've clearly not seen Leto act.

And you've clearly not heard him sing. Awful voice. Not a good choice for Joker.

I have heard that they will finish Suicide Squad with a big musical number.

Leto is a committed, transformative actor that constantly pushes himself and explores different character psychologies with heart and dedication. I'm not too sure about the DCEU Joker, but there is no denying he's one hell of a goddamn actor, and one of the best of his generation. All this talk of music is bullshit and misses the point entirely. He's not paid for anything else but his performance, and that's it.

Leto has a very impressive filmography - Fight Club, Thin Red Line, Requiem for a Dream, Lord of War, Dallas Buyers Club. And can totally transform himself.

Michael Jackson totally transformed himself. He must have been a brilliant actor as well.

I can't stop watching the JL, WW & SS trailers. I'm totally pumped for DC's output going forward.

Same here, @bondjames! I did enjoy 'Man of Steel' and 'BvS' (not as much as the Nolan Batman trilogy, that's true) but damn does these next 3 films look exciting.

That's what I'm like for Star Wars. It's exciting times, despite a lack of the man in the tux.

I'm really pumped and have a lot more faith for SS and WW. My issue with justice league is, Snyder 9 times out of 10 knows how to put together a great trailer but the end result of the actual film is a different story. That being said, the JL trailer looks promising but I can't get too pumped as I've been burned many times over by Snyder. I'm really hoping the film isn't a let down.

Yes, me too. I think he'll learn from the negative reaction to BvS though. What I see looks quite positive so far and that's all I've got to go on.

Knowing Snyder, we'll get Superman for the last 30 minutes of the movie, and that's it. JL looks a mess so far, with poor chemistry between the cast beyond Ben and Gal, who already had BvS to settle into their roles.

Ezra Miller's Flash is going to be the death of me, that much is certain.

I don't honestly see anything mind-blowing about any of these upcoming films. Suicide Squad seems like a bad idea. Even knowing that Darkseid is out there in the DCEU, the Justice League don't feel like they have a need to come together, like they're being drawn together very unnaturally. Wonder Woman has always been a character I felt worked better among the ensemble of the League rather than off on her own.

All in all, I feel as though the DCEU pales in comparison to the Arrowverse on TV. The DCEU has a bigger budget and bigger names, and throws them together without trying to make them fit cohesively, while the Arrowverse takes the time to make everything work right.

If the DCEU is to have a future, then perhaps WB and DC should hand the universe over to the Arrowverse people, or perhaps work more toward expanding the Arrowverse itself instead. Otherwise, I think we'll continue to get lackluster films that bastardize the source material in a way that only Zack Snyder enjoys.

So it is canon in the DCEU that Harley's original outfit from the comics was her own go-to getup pre-incarceration? Interesting...

Just a mythology gag shamelessly thrown in to have a mythology gag, with no thought put into it at all.

Saw some 'Suicide Squad' trailer today (not sure what got me to watch it) that was pretty lengthy and from Comic-Con, I suppose? Pretty much solidified why I won't be seeing it; not sure if it was contained in all the other trailers, as I still can't really make sense of just what the movie is about, but yeah, another:
Comic book movie where they're fighting a random CG army, because why not? Don't think I saw a single bit of them until this recent trailer. Maybe I'm blind, or maybe I just had the poor luck of only seeing a trailer that didn't contain them. Who knows.
