As opposed to DC not having a clue as to wtf they're doing. Justice League was supposed to be a 2 part movie, now...

    http://www.slashfilm.com/two-part-justice-league-now-one-movie/

See, it's this sort of mess and mismanagement of the IPs that have many people pissed off and full of extreme pessimism about DC's future.

The folks at DC cant even get their story straight.

My take on this is simple, JL 1 and 2 were planned and Snyder at the very least was locked in for the first one but after the epic failure of BvS, there was nothing WB/DC could do to change what was already set in motion with the first JL movie. So what would have been a 5 and a half hours worth of movies has now been truncated to a 2 hour and however minutes! It was too late to fire Snyder and there's no way they could delay the film. JL I predict is going to be another mess.

For a studio trying to compete with Marvel, they're making it absurdly too easy.

I have to say, execution apart, I am personally more interested in what DC releases in the next few yrs than Marvel (Spidey notwithstanding). There is a bit of overload setting in for me re: the interconnected Marvel'verse.

It very well may be a mess but I actually think this is a good move on their part. I don't want JL to setup stuff to be paid off in a second team effort. Each film should be its own thing. I was always under the impression that both JL films were two separate stories so I doubt it's a case of a five hour film being truncated into a 2h30m flick as you say. Whether it actually turns out to be good regardless is another matter. I actually liked the trailer - aside from the Flash costume which is awful.

Fair enough but the DC films themselves are and building to be interconnected themselves, so you'll be getting more of that, just with DC characters.

Well Snyder's plan was exactly to have JL part 1 end with a cliff hanger and to pick up with part 2. The issue I have with JL going forward is that, as the film is now, it's a reaction to BvS' underperformance by the studio. I like the trailer for what it is but upon seeing it I was immediately made aware of "issues" it has. I don't have any particular strong faith that JL is going to be a great film. At the moment I'm convinced it's going to be another disappointment and if we're lucky, it'll be mediocre at best. However, one thing I'm certain of is, the studio execs have put some serious pressure on Snyder not to make this like BvS. There's going to be a great deal of oversight in what he does but it'll still be a Snyder film.

Marvel's movies make sense, though. Batman V Superman had this exact problem, as it was a Man of Steel sequel, a Batman introduction (including showing us the exact same goddamn origin story everybody already knows, just for the sake of ripping off more panels from The Dark Knight Returns), a Wonder Woman introduction, a Lex Luthor introduction, an Aquaman teaser, a Flash teaser, a Cyborg teaser, a Justice League teaser, a Darkseid teaser and a Doomsday introduction, all the while getting two icons of comic books in a live action movie for the first time in history.

The Honest Trailer is right, they threw everything in the movie except the kitchen sink, then they went and threw in the kitchen sink.

Batman V Superman had too many threads pulling in different directions tied to things DC won't pay off for awhile now, while Marvel focuses on the movie their making then makes it tie into the greater universe. While Marvel merely hints, DC full on throws at you.

You're also assuming I hate the DCEU. I don't. I pity the DCEU. They could have had a universe to compete with Marvel. Instead, they're chugging along and replacing as many people behind the scenes as possible.

If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times, give the DCEU to the Arrowverse people. They know what they're doing and they're doing it right.

Personally I pretty much own every Marvel film and every what I consider good D.C. animated and live action films. I grew up on D.C. comics so naturally have more interest in there output. The recent films are not perfect though I like them and find them far more interesting than Marvel, D.C. over the years has changed time and time again, Snyderverse blatantly is its own thing and I will see where it all goes. When I don't like something I simply dont watch it, I don't resort to being negative toward people with a different opinions.

Good lord, please stop posting all that garbage in this thread! We don't need a full page of memes and shit.

While not part of the movie-verse, I want to see what you guys think of the new TV Superman and his suit:

I saw the photo earlier was not sure if it was legitimate, initial thoughts not overly keen will have to wait until seeing the actor move in the suit.

WW looks meh to me....like the movie will be all about Chris Pine adapting to her life and WW kicking ass without any intensity in it (meaning she'l single handedly beat anyone and I won't think for a second she might be hurt or smth like that) and they'll shoehorn some random general or smth like that for a villain.

Justice League looks hype! ....but BvS was perhaps the best trailer I've ever seen and the movie was bloated with subplots and boring 60+ minutes....

So...as long as they keep the forming of JL for under 20 mins the movie should be good. Great trailer tho.

I'm hyped for SS but I keep it real. The movie seems like it will be based off 3 major locations from the trailer..........but than again I have no idea where the joker and batman come into play, who's the villain and what's up with Enchantress....so props to the marketing team for realsing way too much while still keeping big secrets...this should be an alright movie that will be overrated I think. But it seems like it PROBABLY has a cohesive plot which should be good...........but than again seeing as I still have some questions from the trailer..it may be confusing and over crowded..

Also I had a weird SS related dream few nights ago...among other things I dreamed that the "eyeball soldiers" all looked like Joker under the mask....even tho it's just a dream.....I'd love to see Joker surrounded by punch of "red shirts" dressed like him with same hair, tattoos etc. like him.

the illuminati playing with us again with the lizard people reference...we need to all wake up and fight for humanity.

Just look at the poster for High Rise - just in our face all the time. And don't get me started on illumination films with the single eyed minions...

The worrying thing is there aren't any reviews out and the embargo won't be lifted until 2nd August.

@doubleoego true, but were those damn critics positive about any movie so far this summer? Getting a bit ridiculous that one of the only 2 films that most critics liked was the 'Ghostbusters' remake/reboot.

Good point. I think this summer has recieved an underwhelming reception overall for live action blockbuster movies for whatever reason. Interestingly enough it's been the complete opposite for TV shows. TV just keeps getting better and better.

Going back to SS, there are a few twitter reactions providing mixed receptions but with the position DC is in and trying to win back goodwill lost from the whole BvS situation, if they had a sure fire hit on their hands I would have thought the embargo for reviews would have been lifted sooner than 2 or 3 days before its release.

The embargo situation certainly isn't a promising sign, I do agree. You know WB screened the hell out of this thing, so then one has to wonder why this is the response they took with how it was reviewed in the press.

As @doubleoego said, if they got even good, not great reviews, they would be getting word out there to build up the hype, getting people aware that this wasn't another stinker like before. Why that isn't what they've done could lead one to think that they haven't gotten good or great reviews in the majority at all, and are now trying to cash in on opening weekend pre-order ticket sales and immediate watchers of the film before word of its quality gets out and plummets their numbers.

WB could also just be trying to keep anything and everything about it out of the press in general to stop anything from affecting the hype around it, which I think has been hopeful for the most part, as so many see this as a fresh start for the DCEU to rebuild its credibility again. Still, the embargo situation is telling, and unfortunately I think @doubleoego is right about why they're doing this.

In a year of massive disappointment on many fronts, especially in film, I hope this movie isn't amongst that list. It wouldn't wholly shock me if it was, however, and that's sad.

@Sanchairs, did you get any hints in the Suicide Squad trailer of when the lizard people and their king will rise up from earth's sewers and take control over us? Just curious, as I've been looking for hints towards when things will kick off lately. As you do.

Ok so they can use superman on super girl but still can't use batman on any show? Hell I would gladly take Gordon from Gotham in a bat suit on arrow or DC legends of tomorrow just to have A batman

From the trailers I expect SS to kick some serious butt. I'm not worried about the lack of reviews at this point. The premise looks interesting, the characters are enticing and it certainly seems original.

Expect an upside surprise with this one.

DC believes viewers are too stupid to accept multiple iterations of the same character at the same time. Somehow, they let the Flash and Superman pass, likely because the Flash TV series has been running longer and Superman is their original superhero.

I don't know why this always has to be a DC v Marvel thing. It's just nauseating. And it's all been coming on the DC side, as well. You don't hear the Russos getting on a soapbox and talking like that. They make their movies, have them distributed and let those films speak for themselves.

Ayer better hope SS is good, otherwise he'll get the same beating Snyder did when BvS came out to crickets after he called Ant-Man a "flavor of the week" character (an unknown character whose movie actually ended up with over a 50% higher rating on Rotten Tomatoes than Snyder's film featuring the two biggest heroes ever).

From what I have seen of Ayer during the process of making SS he has pushed the D.C. v Marvel thing a few times, it's not rearly necessary he easily gets fired up.

Not entirely true, as both Downey Jnr. and Anthony Mackie have made equally crass comments about DC in the past. Downey Jnr. also said he didn't understand the praise for The Dark Knight and to him the film didn't make sense.

Doesn't make it any less childish for anyone, of course. But still, there has been a bit of to-ing and fro-ing.
