  • I posted that on the Man of Steel page a bit ago. I'd love to see it in color...
It doesn't look half bad (considering it was the 90's and everyone had a molded muscle suit then)-- it's just CAGE that's the problem!!! Bullet dodged for sure #:-S

With "Man Of Steel" (2013) we basically got the announcement that this would be the kick-off of an entire new DC Comics Cinematic Universe.
    dc-comics-logo.jpg

During last weekend's ComicCon in San Diego we got to see which movies we can be expecting in the coming years. And there's A LOT coming:

"Batman vs. Superman: Dawn Of Justice" (March 25th, 2016):

"Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016) (Mind you, the comic con trailer wasn't released yet, but here you can see the leaked version, straight from Comic Con):

But then, the DC Comics Universe will get some rapid expansion, with:

    --> "Wonder Woman" (June 23rd, 2017):

With all the threads that closed for being duplicates, do we really need this thread? We already have a Man Of Steel and a Batman V Superman thread. How come interesting, Bond related, threads like this recent one get closed

    http://www.mi6community.com/index.php?p=/discussion/12420/how-to-introduce-the-new-007#latest

But multiple threads on the same film series are allowed? I'd have no problem with this if this site wasn't so ridiculously strict with duplicate topics normally, so it seems unfair that certain subjects (like Batman and the related films) are an exception to a rule that's normally way too harsh, imo.

looking forward to the films like I said glad DC is starting their journey and while it is similar to Marvel their are a few differences.

I recommend to close all individual film topics related to the DC Cinematic Universe ("Batman vs. Superman" for instance). By doing so you get less topics for superhero films. And you can go back to one streamlined topic that's treating all DC Comics films. Actually, I did exactly the same as that other "Marvel Cinematic Universe"-topic.

Agreed. Let's close all redundant DC related threads including this one, and let's discuss everything DC related in the "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" thread, which already has 68 pages worth of discussion.

That is certainly some line up!

Yeah, Marvel will get some stiff competition. I don't feel so much for "Batman vs. Superman", but "Suicide Squad" could be a real hit. Who doesn't want to see a bunch of psychopathic villains team up and execute some terror and destruction.

Suicide Squad Comic Con trailer is now online.

@Marketto007? THANK. YOU!!! Now THIS is the kind of....'superhero' film I'm looking forward too! Even more so than "Batman vs. Superman". Those locked-up psychopaths remind me a bit of Hannibal, "Skyfall"s Silva. The trailer also feels as mysterious and dark as the trailer for "SPECTRE". And obviously, there are some links with "The Dark Knight" as well.

This could be a marvellous character study of psychopathic villains, similar to what Heath Ledger's The Joker did in "The Dark Knight". It's a movie that could give you uncomfortable laughs. And wonderful to see Jared Leto as the new Joker.

Also glad to see that this film is NOT directed by Zack Snyder, but by David Ayer. The guy also did the marvellous film "Fury" with Brad Pitt: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2713180/combined . Finally a good replacement for Christopher Nolan!

    Bring THIS ONE ON!!

This looks so much better and more interesting than Batman v. Superman! ...but releasing a 3 minute long trailer 13 months before the movie opens???

It could be a new trend. The ComicCon is a heavyweight for promotional events these days. In all honesty, I also think "SPECTRE" should have been there.

Then again, it's only a trailer for online use. It won't be used as a cinematic trailer. Still, this is......is such a heavyweight trailer man! Even I am getting completely excited by it!

SPECTRE shouldn't have been there because it doesn't need the fundimental exposure. Bond is well established. Also, it would have gotten its limelight dimmed by the novelty likes of suicide squad and bats vs supes.
Once Bond's marketing kicks in they'll go all in. There's a time and a place for everything.

It looks like the Joker is talking to Harleen Quinzel when he says "I'm just gonna hurt ya really, really bad". He has what looks like electrodes used in Electroconvulsive Therapy in his hands. This is gonna be one hell of a scene and likely Harley's origin.

I have a serious "Bye Marvel, bye Batman, bye Superman, HELLO Suicide Squad"-feeling here :-P.

Fair enough and I understand why you and others feel tgat way. I too am excited for the movie but for me, bats and supes in tge same movie...going head to head...it's a childhood dream come true for me.

True, but.....I don't know. One superhero against another superhero. Both look so bored, like Ridge Forrester and Thorne Forrester from "The Bold And The Beautiful". I never thought it would be a very interesting premise. "The Dark Knight" worked tremendously, because Nolan focused more on the Bruse Wayne character. But moreover, with magnificently acted villains like The Joker, Two-Face, Bane and Miranda, the actual films became way more interesting.

Superman is even a different story. He's not human. He's an alien. And I thought these non-human powers for Superman were always a bit....too simple for my taste. At least Bruce Wayne needs real equipment to become Batman.

Suicide Squad IMO is an entirely new take on the superhero-genre. It IS an ensemble film, like "Avengers" and "Batman vs. Superman", but I think the fact that all these members of suicide squad are twisted psychopathic lunatics makes it already way more interesting. And combine that 'dark side' with some humour, and you'll get underbelly laughs....

I'm going to renew my opinion and say Harley Quinn and Deadshot are the only two members of the Squad that I'm interested in. The rest (especially the Joker) just bore me.

Hmmm, very interesting. For me it's the other way around really. For me both Superman and Batman in "Superman vs. Batman" seem a bit like Ridge & Eric Forrester from "The Bold And The Beautiful" :-P.

In all honesty? I'm looking more forward to the standalone Batman-film that will be directed by Ben Affleck and written by Geoff Johns from DC Comics and Ben Affleck. If you've seen "Argo" then you'd understand why I think that particular standalone Batman film for me would seem slightly more interesting than another Zack Snyder action-porn-movie.

Add Killer Croc to that list and I agree Croc Dead Shot and Quinn really are all I care about.

I'm not all that impressed with Croc, to be honest. I can't put my finger on why, but I just feel like he'll end up as the Drax of this film.

Oh yes, a bunch of psycho villains could be very interesting indeed. A far more interesting idea than a bunch of superheroes for sure. :)

I also think it looks more interesting than BvS.

I assume the reason for releasing it this early was that the material shown at Comic Con a couple of days ago was leaked by some moron. They weren't at all happy about that and made it clear, but since a bad quality thing was out there anyway, well... people were going to see it and form opinions anyway, might as well release the thing in good quality. Just speculating. Maybe they would have released it anyway.

I pretty much agree with you.

I've only seen Cavill in MOS and I didn't like the movie, nor him in it - I was bored by both. I've never liked Affleck as an actor in anything (Ben, that is, obviously... I like Casey as an actor a lot), but I'd like to like him in this, I really would. I have a soft spot for Batman for one (I find him interesting because he's human and has no actual superpowers) and I can't dislike the guy playing him... Besides, way to win over Bale fans. :)) I wasn't expecting that at all, but a job well done at the Comic Con panel, ticked all the boxes (professional, personal and the laughs). I appreciated "the great", was aww at "the sweetest guy" and when he was clarifying his earlier story by adding that Bale was also buying his kid a suit, "he doesn't just hang out." =))

Still... the damned movie... I don't know. I'm suspicious mostly because of MOS (the same director) and because of Superman - a guy who actually really flies and has ultra super hyper mega strength? Um... I don't know how I'll manage to get into that.

And yes, Suicide Squad is indeed a different look at the ensemble piece. :P And I trust Ayer more than Snyder, anyway. I know Ayer can write (Training Day, Harsh times, Fury), direct (Harsh Times, Fury), can handle an ensemble well (Fury), can handle nasty stuff well (all of those), so I'm optimistic.

I still wish Tom Hardy had been able to do Suicide Squad, damned Revenant going over schedule... (They're still at it, but presumably will finish shooting eventually... looking forward to that. And the movie, whenever it's out, this year or the next.)

Maybe I'll like both movies. Maybe I'll like neither. But I'm curious about both and I want to like them both.

Me too. I'm like, "can we just skip this one and get straight to that one, please?" :P

That Suicide Squad trailer looks like something. We got fooled nicely with that crappy first official group foto.
But I don´t understand why some people have to insist on having this and BvS compete, when the two films look nothing like one another.

Not sure GG. One topic will be an almighty mess as several films are being discussed simultaneously.
I would say it's ok to have separate threads for the individual films, and the DC Universe and Marvel Universe threads as sort of General Discussions for these franchises.

Unless anyone thinks differently I would be happy to leave it like this. Some threads of course will be closed if they are obvious duplicates...
