Anyone? Because I think it's kinda rude that my opening post got deleted and replaced by someone's else's opening post. At least....that's how it appears.
What? I have no idea what you are talking about, and I never remember you creating a DC thread, nor did I think you were even a fan until you mentioned this. This thread is for the DC movies, nothing more.
You're about two weeks behind, then.
And in the grand scheme of things, Supergirl was underused.
The late-episode action was very much expected from such a big and important crossover (think a TV budget version of the last 30 minutes of the first Avengers movie and you're damned close), and it served as a fitting end to the crossover, capped off only by the heroes celebrating.
I said it in my little mini-review for the first part of the crossover and I'll say it again: The Justice League movie needs to live up to this. It got everything right, and it did it on a TV budget. WB/DC seem to enjoy releasing extended cuts of the DCEU movies, and I would love a version of this crossover edited into a film with some deleted scenes reinserted. I think it would make a kick-ass standalone film, and could even be released on the big screen should they ever decide to.
They're gonna try and top this next year, and I can't wait to see if they do.
Just watched Supergirl Parasite episode, was OK though a few of the subplots are not really working at the moment. Crossover is the week after next looking forward to it, I may wait till they have all aired then binge watch on catch up.
The editing is definitely the biggest problem, and yet another re edit may improve it. The characters themselves were OK, though the delivery of lines fell flat, the film itself never gathered any momentum, tone or rhythm. You could argue an entire act of the film was missing. The use of songs as apposed to a score I found irritating, the scenes never really emoted any kind of depth for the most part because of the erratic musical choices. The threat the SS faced had zero threat, and how they defeated the said threat was very weak.
On the upside put these actors playing the same roles in a film with a start, beginning, end and the semblance of a structured script it could be good. SS was yet another establish a universe film, DC need to make a self contained film and move away from the preoccupation of world building, the world building is undermining there films.
The Joker my first thoughts were not good though there was some interesting though familiar Harley/Joker imagery and interactions, not a fan of Leto's interpretation though it came across as forced to me. Admittedly I have only watched the film once all the way through (extended cut), got the next three days of so will rewatch it see if it improves.
Cara Delavigne dancing was hilarious ;))
Watching a review of BvS one moment in the film I really don't like is when Batman
It is very obvious that DC were trying and failing to make Guardians of the Galaxy with villains, what with the way they approached the dialogues and the stylization of the characters and how they attempted to use songs to score the majority of the film to give it "punky" character. The difference between GotG and SS however is that the former had good characters and dialogue while also being a film with actual pacing and structure that didn't look cut together by amateur music video editors. Funnily enough, apparently the cut we got was edited by those that did the trailer for the film, which says a lot about how we ended up here. That's why there's film editors and trailer editors; two entirely different schools of cutting that should never cross.
How is the extended cut, by the way, and what's it added to the movie? I was expecting more than just ten minutes of extra footage, because I still don't believe this was the film Ayer wanted to make.
As for your BvS comment, in that moment I guess we're supposed to see that
This image is from Doctor Who episode City of Death, looks very much like the jelly head monsters in SS. P.S. That's actually Julian Glover.
Back on point the extended cut has twelve minutes extra, mainly Harley/Joker back story which was OK. I have only seen the extended cut so not sure what else was added.
Good point that I did not consider regarding end of BvS, I saw the scene as Batman needing a tool to intimidate when he really should not need one. Though it could be a moment of him addressing his own actions and reconsidering.
Anyway, even still...the extended cut does improve the film even if the scenes don't necessarily drive the plot forward. They do, however, add some nice character moments.
Jumped up from a 6 to a 7/10, for me. I have a feeling that there is an 8/10 movie in there somewhere that could easily be found if WB weren't so damn stubborn.
As for SS. You can't turn sh*t into gold by adding 12 minutes.
Same for BvS.
I just wanted to see Clark not being a whiny ass for two minutes, and the extended cut gave me that, so I'll take it. I wasn't asking for the world, and no cut of the film could have delivered a good movie, but it's nice that there's more of an actual plot in the extended edition. It's a tough three hours to sit through, though, I'll concede to that. I don't remember ever being more bored to tears during a superhero film.
Yeah, it seems that way to me. That being said, the big difference here is that unlike BvS, the added footage doesn't really improve plot points. It just elevates the context and often that is just as important.
It's a big deal being made over small details that really should have just been in the film in the first place really.
A cut of the film where Lex wasn't over-the-top, where Batman isn't irrationally trying to kill Superman for reasons that make less sense regardless of the context of the film, where the Doomsday element at the end is non-existent, and where the title fight lasted longer than seven minutes.
Would this cut not have delivered a good movie?
I think a better team would've delivered what we needed, but unfortunately this mess was already shot, overlaid with effects and edited before the people in charge were able to realize that the movie might not be everyone's cup of tea. They wanted Batman in there so badly, no matter how much of an idiot savage they had to make him seem to do it.
A blatant lie.
As who, do we know? He was once cast as Batman in George Miller's Justice League film, so it's not a shocking pick if he's getting involved in the films now.
Plus I am still playing catch-up.
I've burned thru first 4 seasons of Arrow. Ollicity is finally over, thank God. I love Felicity as Overlord and just being her nerdy self, but her and Oliver I find cringe worthy.
I've also watched Flash S1 and Gotham S1.
Now I am 5 episodes into Gotham S2.
This season is major babe fest. Not only Morena Baccarin and Erin Richards but Jessica Lucas as new sick, twisted, bullwhip-wielding badgirl has joined the fun.
I see what seemed to be Joker has been sacrificed early. I am guessing the Jerome character will serve as inspiration for a future real Joker to emerge.
Penguin is in full glory. Future Riddler is coming along nicely. Cat Girl still needs some work, but the seeds are there.
I can see this series working as Bat prequel. Gordon is doing the early battling. But as the main villains fully emerge and become way too much for the police to handle, and take over the city, the Bat will emerge as the needed counter. The villains are all young.
The Bat will emerge as they they have settled into their primetime villainy
====The Arrow S4 crossover with Flash was real good. It sets up Legends series nicely. Damian Dhark was awesome villain. Evil with a smile and a taste for good wine.
So after Gotham S2 , I will watch Flash S2, and get the Flash side of the Arrow crossover. Then I will watch Supergirl S1 and Legends S1.
Might even watch Constantine S1. Constantine did turn up in Arrow S4, which I guess is a year after his series was cancelled.

I figure DC and WB are now stalling to see how WW and JL will do, because if the latter fails, what's the damn point anymore? Not to mention that if Aquaman or Flash fail to ignite audiences, why bother with solo films for them?
Pretty much. The next 2 years are going to be very VERY interesting.
In 2017 the MCU have GoTg vol.2 in May, Spider-Man Homecoming in July and Thor Ragnarok in November.
Then the DCEU has Wonder Woman in June and the justice league in November.
The buzz for Marvel's slate is at an all time high, particularly with the comic con event in Brazil a couple of days ago, the new teaser trailer for GoTg vol.2 and the general ever growing hype for Ragnarok.
However, for WB/DC they really need critical hits and 2017 is a crucial year for them. I'm optimistic about WW but Justice League I'm iffy about. They can't afford to mess up and like @Brady said, if JL in particular resonates badly then what is the point?
2018 was supposed to see batman get an October release and that might be pushed back to 2019 and with Aquaman pushed back to the end of 2018 and the Flash currently without a director being released at some point in the year, they're competing against Black Panther in February, Avengers IW in May and Ant-Man and Wasp in July.
The goodwill, track record, hype and talent the MCU has is great enough to keep and inspire confidence BUT if it means WB/DC need extra time to ensure a well recieved and quality product then so be it.
He is teasing the hell out of us:
But there does seem to be something going on:
Hmmm...
Guitar...music...music requires imagination...imagination is synonymous with mind...mind rhymes with find...we find things with Google....Google starts with the letter "G", just like green....green is on the color spectrum...a spectrum like the one that charts the colors of visible light by their wavelength...light that comes from lamps...lamps like lanterns!
Armie Hammer is Green Lantern!
