@GavSalkeld, I've had a great time reading on what's gone missing over the years. EON sure need to do some work for future versions.

"You forgot the first rule of mass media ( EON) give the people whay they want!" I couldnt think of a more true statement. ;-)

  • Love it!

Any idea what the scene in Quantum Of Solace that got trimmed is? And why, if there was no issue, would EON do anything to it?
  • I'll be doing a write up on it soon for Melon Farmers :)

Wonderful. Be sure to post the link to it once it's done. Thanks!

I'm sure in a few years we'll see that version. It doesn't seem half as bad as what happened to Casino Royale in America. Wow...
  • I'm also producing a YouTube documentary on TND, the cuts are that extensive. Should be online a few days.

Even better news. It's good to have one film at last intact and have a 12 rating. Over time, I'd like to think this will be the case for many other Bond films. GoldenEye next. No need for a 15 there.

I have always thought that Spielberg/Lucas get away with murder! If LTK is a 15 then so surely the Indy films and Jurassic Park should be too. I remember at the time of LTK's release that cuts had to be made otherwise it would have been an 18. Those cuts are now back in and it is still a 15! Poor old LTK really had it hard, not only with the censors but there was a lacklustre campaign to promote it because, I think, the head of marketing had a downer on Bond.

That is a very good point, how is raiders of the lost ark still a PG and Diamonds are forever now a 12, it doesn't make sense. And LTK did have a hard time without a doubt.

This film isn't a 12 according to the ratings on the new edition DVD...
  • What "new" DVD? The 50th Anniversary Editions are not out yet, and any online coverart on places like Amazon is likely to use a stock image with the old rating since they are not yet available.

    This one:

With only a month until release I'd have expected the final art work to be in place by now.
  • Yeah that'll just be a promo image, most likely. If they do release it with the wrong rating, thats a breach of UK law.

How the hell did DAF show Mr. Wint and Kidd in a negative way? I thought it was tastefully done, and most little kids wouldn't think the wiser of the two until the proper age.
  • As promised, my article on the TND cuts is live so I am posting the link (as one or two people wanted it). There's also a video documentary at the bottom which I prepared to go with it, which is basically the written essay in a cut-down form. I hope you enjoy it.

Thanks for posting this and keeping us informed @GavSalkeld.
  • If I think about it now, maybe Diamonds did have some moments that weren't exactly for certain younger audiences, certainly a step up in violence or scenes that may upset some youngsters from the fairly innocent days of the 1960s Bond. I always found Wint and Kidd creepy, but hilarious in equal measure, it was a nice blend. A serious edge but with a red nose on top. And why change the ratings now for another DVD release, or hasn't it been confirmed yet, I mean it's been the same rating for 40 years now, so there's really no need to change anything now at this point in time
  • I think Diamonds are for Insomniacs is more adapt analogy.
Never fails to send me asleep. Very very funny and dry, just boring.
  • Interesting. All the BOND films here in France are rated "TOUS PUBLIC" meaning anyone can watch them . A bit like "U" in UK or "G" in US. Even Casino Royale is rated "TOUS PUBLIC" and the torture scene is intact...

They probably think that the French cannot be saved anyhow so why worry? ;) :D
