I thought it might be rather interesting to canvass the community for your favourite Bond Movie shot. If you are anything like me you will occasionally pause the film to take in the beauty of the scene or indeed the cool angle of a scene that on a routine viewing gets taken for granted.

So I will kick this off with my first 5 Frames Bond highlights;

1. The spy who loved me - Claude Renoir's shot of the sunrise over the desert- beautiful everytime

2. OHMSS - on the beach as bond runs toward the sea, love the foreground fast zoom out of bonds feet running through the sand, a shot Glen paid homage to in FYEO as bond picks up his gun before running to Lisl on the beach.

3. Casino Royale - the epic sweeping shot as Bond arrives in venice, just beautiful and absolutely the reference shot for any blu ray showcase.

4. QOS - yes, QOS. Bond arrives at Mathis villa - ariel shot of boat coming to the coast.

5. The World Is Not Enough - The boat, the restaurant table, the dome. Just sooo exciting at the time and it never fails me.

What d'ya reckon folks, what stands out for you?

I will think of more later, but one that quickly comes to mind is the wonderful overhead shot of Montenegro for the first time in CR, and the shots of the train billowing down the tracks before it.

    Favorites:

FYEO: Zoom in on Melina's eyes showing the pain of her parents' death.

DN: Obviously Honey Rider rising from the sea.

CR: Slow inward pan of Craig on those blue cranes fighting the free-runner.

QOS: Undershot of Bond leaping from rooftop to rooftop.
Bond striking his stance in the lobby of the Opera with that bombastic music playing.
Bond jumping over a car as an explosions tears away the wall behind him.
Bond leaving Greene in the dust.. in the middle of the desert.

I remember from Goldeneye with that play in the anfitheatre. It was short but cool.

Brand new thread, 4 posts and already 5 references to QOS - style over substance? ;-)

TLD: The Mujahideen riding their horses through the desert with the sunset in the background. Gorgeous shot.

    Edit: Double Post
  • My all time favourite is Daltons reveal in TLD where he turns to face the camera.

Honey coming from the sea a close second.

Yes! Dalton's face in TLD for sure; beautiful shot, great way to show us the new Bond.
I agree with many that have been posted.

    Also, for me:

The ski jump in TSWLM, when the chute opened as he floated down.

    Climbing St. Cyril's in FYEO

The aerial view of Bond's sailboat at the end of TMWTGG as it sails by that lovely scenery

I know there are more, I'll think about it.

Also, I feel certain that more than one special scene/frame to freeze will be in Skyfall. Just that shot of Bond looking down at London from the rooftop (defence of the realm) is classic. Can't wait! I think there will be some really lovely scenes beautifully shot in this movie.

The entire QoS opera scene in style and substance is perfection. A beautiful group of shots that really sets the mood.

I love the shot of Bond driving to Graves ice palace for the first time in DAD.

Also, Bond driving to meet Elektra at the pipeline in TWINE.

The long shot of the bungee jump in GE.

The shot of the car going into the water in TSWLM.

The shot of the tanker driving through the fire in LTK.

I think I might be in the minority here but I actually liked some of the sped up shots in DAD. Some of them were unneccesary but like the @thelivingroyale 's choice, some were exceptional.

Brosnan walking through the casino, the dam jump, and the scene where the tank comes through the wall in GE are some of my favourites.

That sweeping shot of Bond's yacht as he and Vesper arrive in Venice in CR, pure beauty.

    Also Dalton's reveal in TLD.

Lazenby smoking the cigarette behind the wheel of the Aston in the OHMSS PTS.

    Tosca in QoS

    Venice in CR

    The Train in CR

The shot of Bond and Kara on the horse in Vienna

    Honey Ryder in DN

Most of the aerial sequences over Nassau in TB

The scene when Valenka rises from the sea in CR

YOLT – The high shot over the rooftop as Sean batters about 20 blokes.

OHMSS – The choppers coming in over Piz Gloria at dawn, George sliding along the ice and firing.

MR – The shuttle as it enters orbit. The smoke trails done by Derek Meddings with salt cellars are just awesome and shit all over CGI.

AVTAK – Long shot of the airship approaching the bridge.

GE – The crane shot over Bonds head as he stands on the edge of the dam.

DAD – The N Korean flag fills the screen then the camera pans down as Bond is being taken to be executed.

CR – The seaplane landing and the aforementioned shots of the yacht in Venice and the train (although helped by Arnolds score to be fair).

QOS – Although half CGI the shot as Bond and Mitchell fall through the glass is pretty good, the car going off the cliff in the PTS, the boat to Mathis’ villa. Say what you like about Forster but cinematographically hes probably the most talented director we’ve had.

    Let's try again :-<

One or two shots in OHMSS especially as the light is fading

Koskov and that General in The Living Daylights just as Bond and Milovy have been handed over

When Bond and Amasova are on the boat in Spy, Egypt, night draws in

Dario, Cocaine Grinder, License to Kill

    Connery and tarantula, Doctor No

Bond sliding down the rail in Octopussy with Machine Gun

Bond meets Goodhead (again), Cable Cars, sight viewers, Rio De Janeiro background, Moonraker
  • Dalton's reveal.
Lazenby lighting the cigarette in the beginning of OHMSS.
The scene where Tracey sees Bond as the henchmen chase him is also wonderfully done.

The 'chocolate box' shot in The Living Daylights is one of the best in the series. That hasn't been mentioned yet, I don't think.

FRWL the shots of Hagia Sophia and Istambul.

OHMSS when Draco's helicopters are flying above the mountains towards Piz Gloria with the sun in the horizon.

TND the junk in Kowloon Bay, but also the same location in TMWTGG Bond arriving at Scaramanga's island.
  • Honey coming out of the sea and Tracy going into the sea. Perfection.

I liked that bit in Doctor No when Connery starts singing and Ursula Andress comes out the ocean

UNDERNEATH THE MANGO TREE ME HONEYS AND ME MAKE BOGGOLA SOUP

Acutally, I can't quite remember what was said but it was an iconic piece of cinema

Also, I liked the bit when Bond puts on his jetpack and zooms over the rooftops, and that guy on the boat with a shotgun to his face. Connery and Masterson in Switzerland and the fight with Bambi and Thumper in Diamonds. Classic cinema!

    Time for bed. Goodnight I-)
