    "Quantum Of Solace" (2008)
    ITV1 - UK
    Saturday 26th March 2011
    9:00pm - 11:00pm

Note: This of course is the premiere of the film on UK television. Not bad, this time it's only taken 2 years and 3 months, rather than 2 years and 9 months for Casino Royale.
  • This is the premiere of the film on terrestrial UK television - also in HD on ITV1 but it made it's premiere on sky on January 1st 2010.

@jamesclark I did mean terrestrial television as I've known it to be on Sky before. Sorry if that wasn't clear enough.

As for as the showing of Quantum Of Solace goes I wonder how bad ITV will muck this one up? Though at least it's on at a good time and without any news breaks.
  • Sorry Samuel if you thought I was being picky, not my intention. Premiere of the film though - looking forward to watching it again though I've got it on blu ray anyway. Always seems good watching Bond on TV. Agreed about the no news breaks - some good ITV scheduling for once. :-)

Quoting jamesclark: Sorry Samuel if you thought I was being picky, not my intention.

Not at all. I thought I wasn't being clear enough.

I hope there's a better screening of this film than the last one. Just look here

  • I guess it didn't help Casino Royale at the time of its premiere being scheduled around Strictly come dancing and X Factor, two of the most watched shows of the year for BBC and ITV. I'd rather watch repeats of Bond any day but many would disagree I guess.

Why premiere QoS on a normal weekend when we have Easter/Royal Wedding/May Day/Spring Bank Holiday weekends all coming up .It would then at least make it seem like an event rather than just 'sticking it on'.

god i remember here in the states, they would "premiere" the latest Bond movie on television, as the newest one was about to open in the theaters.... i distinctly remember them advertising the "world television premiere" of Tomorrow Never Dies, 4-6 months before The World Is Not Enough opened in theaters... i never watch the films on TV anymore - i get sick of the butchery of scenes - most notably, the infamous blotchy black mass that covered up Plenty's fine ass in Diamonds Are Forever.... curse our crazy christian uptightness in this country... i think they have since done away with it - but at the time i was like "WTF?!?!".. it looked like a badger was clinging to her ass..

Do'h! In the description for Quantum of Solace, ITV have put:

"James Bond heads to Bolvia to take down another villain but MI5 begins to doubt his abilities as an agent."

Typical ITV that. What an awful description. As Quantum Of Solace has been out for so long as well, it will likely only do as well as Casino Royale did on it's first viewing - about 5.1 million viewers.

Show: The Real James Bond's Gadgets (Documentary)
    Channel: NT1 (France)
    Date: Wednesday 18th May 2011
    Time: 01:50

Debonair Roger Moore presents The Real James Bond's Gadgets which reveals the true tales of secret agents and their ingenious gadgets.

For 14 years Moore acted the part of the British secret agent - 007 - licensed to kill the bad guys and thrill audiences with an array of extraordinary devices.

This entertaining expose of real life spies and their gadgets proves, when it comes to espionage, the real tools of the trade are far more outrageous than the over-worked imagination of the movie industry's props department.

The program travels between the three main centres of global espionage - Washington, London and Moscow - as Moore takes viewers through the fascinating history of subterfuge.

Former CIA operatives, M16 officers and KGB agents tell their stories of scientific brilliance, quirky innovation and daring deceptions.

From the birth of concealed silenced weapons in the Second World War to the latest ultra-sensitive listening devices, The Real James Bond's Gadgets covers everything the well-equipped spy could ever want - exploding rats, miniature cameras, concealed weapons and bugged embassies.

With exclusive access to the world's first International Spy Museum the program examines a startling range of assassination devices and viewers meet real life spies whose unerring faith in the deadly inventions have, for better or worse, irrevocably altered the course of history.

Recently released, previously top-secret documents highlight the spies' tricks of the trade, their missions, tools and techniques.

As Roger Moore so eloquently states: "It's not the power of the pistol in your pocket but the accuracy of your shot that counts."
