I don't think he's the best but I agree he's the most relatable Bond.
Now I didn't say Vesper was worse than Jinx, I said that Jinx was bad but so was Vesper. If I had to rank them, I would put Vesper x ammount of places above Jinx. But I still would put Vesper alongside Kara, Domino & Melina as one of my favourites. Vesper (or to be precise, Eva Green) is attractive, but the character doesn't grab me in the same way as the 3 I listed.
Your response to O'Brady was both funny and well said. It definitely makes sense to me that rookie Bond would care more compared to later years. As we see in later films, he does learn that overly emotional attachments can cloud his judgment and that death is a big part of his job.
I know you are biased towards Dalton, I completely understand and appreciate that as you by now are aware. But they go from screaming at the other one minute to kissing and heading below deck. It's not realistic in terms of human nature. People who don't immediately like the other don't get together that fast. Vesper and Kara build very naturally and believably.
And I don't think, I at least hope, that you would disagree with my points regarding Vesper vs Jinx. That has to be one of the most outlandish things I've ever heard on this Forum in 4 years. I see the backpedaling has already begun ;)
Maybe it was a bit fast but hey, it's Bond, he can get any girl he wants. I never had a problem with it really and overall I just prefer the bar scene with Pam to the train scene with Vesper. I do prefer the Bond/Kara relationship to both of them though.
And yes Vesper was much better than Jinx.
I also think the "look I just saved your life..." dialogue felt a little clunky.
I don't know why but it annoys me that it goes from pitch black to dawn in a couple of seconds.
1- Tatiana Romanova
2- Vesper
3- Solitaire
I also like very much the introductions of Stacey and Tiffany Case.
That nearly caught me as their actual first meetiing is very briefly at Felixs' wedding. But the Barrelhead bar seemed a stronger meeting.
As for the romantic bit afterwards (I dont care about back projection I grew up in the Roger Moore years) is rather sweet as the audience is just getting over Pam getting shot in the back a few moments before. Its a nice release of tension.
"My name is Pussy Galore."
"I must be dreaming"
Some of the best chemistry in the whole series is between Sean and Jill. I think they fancied the socks off each other.
Mmmmm....Jill St. John. Laz was a lucky man ;)
He didn't did he?????
@-)
Mmmmm....Jill St. John. Laz was a lucky man ;)
I heard he did :-bd Wouldn't suprise me to be honest.
I didn't know that. I knew he run off to Tangier with Joanna Lumley for abit of fun. But Jill? I knew about her and Henry Kissinger...
Well don't quote me on it. I just remember reading it on the internet. Either way I doubt it would much damage to them now.

Scroll down to '69. There's a brief mention.
I was thinking Dalton and Bouvier at the Bimini Bar, the appearance of Del Toro, the mass brawl, Dalton doing a bit of fighting. It was something I enjoyed
Moore and Adams in Octopussy, that was another very good encounter, the explanation of who she really was, and Moore being serious, amid all the nonsense escapades of his other business in that years release
Connery and Andress, once again, could be the best ever, but I don't know. The once again iconic coming out of the ocean, Bond looking on, 'No, I'm just looking' etc
Brosnan and Scorupco in Goldeneye, on the Tiger helicopter, 'I'm a little tied up' before the interrogation by Mishkin
Lazenby and Tracy on the beach in Portugal before Draco's men appear
These are just a few examples, I couldn't highlight just one, but maybe Dr No, as it is the first movie and such a legendary piece of cinema when she arrives out the ocean
Its so Japanese and charming. The wedding scene, the gentle JB music..and her gently raising her head so we can see her face and those doe like eyes.
She wasnt the strongest character but they gave her a good introduction to Bond.
'Some men just don't like to be driven.'
'No, some men don't like to be taken for a ride.'
Favorite (overall) Bond girl - not first encounter
There is quite a difference
I just assumed that they were one in the same, like they are for me. To each his own and all that.
It's in my top 5 Bond girl entrances.
Wha? What? Wagner was married to Natalie Wood (Lana's sister) St John was lover to William Holden..
she and Wagner were husband and wife on that seventies detective series "Hart to Hart".
