Tom Wolfe is one of a select group of writers whose style I love so much I'll read anything of theirs, no matter the subject. He was brilliant at both fiction and non-fiction. (I don't care how many times he was nominated for the Bad Sex in Fiction Award, ssh.)

I borrowed a hard cover copy of "The Right Stuff" from Woking library when in my teens. They only had one copy. I loved it and read it over and over again. Eventually, the overdue fines were so big, I just kept the book and paid them for a replacement. I still have it. Superb writing.

Should be on the GCSE English lit reading list.
