Both @Dwayne and @j_w_pepper are entirely correct. Yes, no justification is needed for anything we feel or don't feel. Yes, newer material from older artists seldom gets much airplay for rather specious reasons. I've always felt the need to investigate music (and literature, and movies, etc.) that is both before and after "my time." But that's my need and not necessarily anyone else's. Still, I do recommend it. You can find some great stuff that way! Carry on, everyone...

She was great as Renee Walker on 24, especially in season 7 which was a great season overall.

Wow, that's sort of sad, although I wouldn't have known offhand if he was still alive, and as you say, 94 is a good run.

The first of his songs I thought of was Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head, but then, I have the CD of his soundtrack for Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid. Then there is of course Say A Little Prayer, which I first heard from Aretha Franklin and only later from Dionne Warwick. The Carpenters' They Long To Be Close To You, What's New Pussycat? from the eponymous movie, and... and... and...

RIP, Burt Bacharach. You made our lives more enjoyable.

I'm pretty much a folk music/rock & roll kind of guy, and Burt's stuff was far more MOR than my usual choice... but what can I say, Burt's songs were some of the greatest! I'll just leave "Do You Know the Way to San Jose?" here because SJ is just down the road from me. Yes, I know the way very well.

"Baby It's You" is also on The Beatles' original British album "Please Please Me". I don't know about the wildly differing U.S. releases. Anyway, I never became aware that this was a Burt Bacharach song, nor that it was originally The Shirelles who recorded it. Still shows BB's grand talent once more.
