No! Bob. So sad, yes. Mario's dead.

This came as a shock to me to be honest.

Indeed, a great actor left us.

Meanwhile, in France, Miss Piggy has lost her french voice. Actress Micheline Dax passed away last week :

So sad about Bob Hoskins, he was simply amazing! He was in two of my favourite childhood films, Who Framed Roger Rabbit (still on my favourites list) and Hook. RIP

I loved Bob Hoskin's work. This is really sad.

Such a nice tribute above (Is ILM = Industrial Light and Magic?)

Bob Hoskins will be sadly missed. A superb actor who was brilliant in one of all time favourite gangster flicks A Long Good Friday. Also featured a young Mr Brosnan.

I've put my Long Good Friday DVD on as we speak. No greater film than to honour Bob.

Bob is nothing short of magnificent in that film; I agree.
  • @Willy, thanks for posting the ILM tribute. Quite lovely.

I always love the story he tells of when Brian DePalma cast him as Al Capone in The Untouchables only to be told Robert DeNiro had since become available so they were going with him. DePalma sent Hoskins a cheque for £20,000 for his troubles.

Hoskins phoned DePalma and said: "Brian, if you've ever got any films you don't want me in, son, you just give me a call."

    Great anecdote. =D>

Funny anecdote indeed, @WillyGalore! I didn't know Hoskins was once considered to be Capone in TU. Now that I think of it, he could have looked the part for sure.

He signed on for the part as DeNiro was busy at the time but once he became available again, Hoskins was asked to be released from his contract. I wish I could make 20K by doing nothing! :-)

So sad to hear of the passing of Bob Hoskins. I knew that his health had been deteriorating in recent years, but it's still very unfortunate to hear. RIP, Bob.

Wow, I just heard about Bob Hoskins on the news. I grew up with Roger Rabbit, and thought he delivered a standout performance in Unleashed. Another superb actor gone from us. Sad news indeed. @};-

I am reading a bit now about Peaches Geldoff - BBC does not have it on their website yet, the Times does, but I cannot read the full article without subscribing. But it says she did die of a heroin overdose. How doubly tragic.

Update: Yahoo took it down from their page. BBC still not covering this.
Hmmm. No matter ... the details don't matter ... but I don't know why it is not being fully reported.

It is incredibly sad and tragic no matter what.

This is sad. A great, underrated actor. If there was ever to be a faithful adaptation of Dracula, I could imagine Bob Hoskin to play Van Helsing.

Efrem Zimbalist Jr. has passed away at the age of 95. While he is famous for many roles, I will always know him as the voice of Alfred in the 90s Batman animated series. May he rest in peace.

I also knew him as Alfred and a Reoccurring on Remington Steel. Rest in peace Efrem. My thoughts go out to your family and daughter Stephanie.

Bob Hoskins was a great actor in Who Framed Roger Rabbit but also as Nikita Krushev in Enemy at the Gates: "This city is not Kiev, is not Minsk. Is Staligrand, STALINGRAD. It carries the name of the boss!"

Sad news indeed. I remember reading that Bob Hoskins was a big Bond fan too, and especially enjoyed Daniel Craig's take on the iconic role.

I did not realise he was that old, but may he rest in peace, his art will remain forever awesome to behold and a little disturbing as well.

Rest in Peace H.R. Geiger, very sad to wake up this morning and read that news. His work on 'Alien' can't be described in words, he delivered such excellent things for the series.
