Yet again we are all seeing the tragic aftermath of being able to carry Firearms in the USA
Six people shot dead by some punk kid and more wounded and to cap it all the boy posted a video on YouTube telling us that it was going to happen !
Rest in peace to those that were caught in this dreadful event .

Watched the BBC news yesterday, which showed a video that the murderer uploaded to YouTube. It chilled my blood. In it, he proclaimed he would be treated "like a God" and that he was taking retribution against humanity for those people leading a happier life than him.

I understand he was the son of an Assistant Director on The Hunger Games films. A family lawyer gave a statement saying that he had a history of mental health problems.

It's nice to know that anyone can get access to firearms with such ease.

Unfortunately, if American policy won't change after the slaughter of 6 year old children at Sandy Hook, then this incident won't make a blind bit of difference to the politicians and lawmakers.

Taking away guns won't stop the killing; where there's people there will always be senseless killings. The worst of it is how the media reports it, giving the goddamn shooters more attention than the victims that got killed by them for literally no reason. And like all these other cowards the prick shot himself; give me a break.

Tightening up the gun laws will significantly reduce the number of deaths though. Surely that's a start?

When the guns are gone people will just find other ways to kill. Tightening guns laws won't stop killers from getting guns illegally either; there's really no way to stop it.

Not at the rates that currently exist now though. It will be far more difficult to massacre an entire classroom of children armed with just a knife than it will with a machine gun capable of firing 300 rounds a minute.

Exactly. Drugs are illegal, but people still manage to get them. Prohibition was repealed because it was too easy to get alcohol through other methods. If someone wants something bad enough, they're going to get it.

You're never going to prevent smuggling whether it be guns or drugs, but surely you make it as difficult as possible for people to obtain them.

Without the gun laws that we have here in the UK, the murder rate would be astronomical.
  • This is about mourning the dead, not debating our views on gun control. No matter what we think about the law, seven people are dead and that's an awful fact. I hope & pray that they all rest in peace.

Of course, but the lives lost in these shootings do require us to discuss how to change things for the better, if at all possible. If we don't discuss gun control then what good are we to all the past, present and future victims that will die by a shooter's hand?

That's definitely true, and we should certainly debate our gun control laws, but there's a time & place for everything, and right here & now certainly isn't it. The controversial opinions thread might be better, for those purposes.

I don't believe they've confirmed yet if he killed himself or not. He died via a gunshot wound to the head (usually refers to suicide), but the cops were shooting at him at this time, so it could've been one of them that finished him off. Either way, it's some self-entitled misogynist who has to kill others because of his deflated ego and lack of ability to attract the opposite sex. Give me a break. If I killed someone based on how many times I've been denied by a good woman, I would've wiped out quite a lot of people by now. It's called manning up, growing some balls, and moving on.

This is not a thread to debate the gun laws of the USA.
    Take it elsewhere.

I love Guest House Paradiso and Bottom.

Rik and Ade were considering a last hurrah for Richie and Eddie,in a retirement home, for one last series.

Same here, puerile filth but so so watchable. I hadn't seen Guest House Paradiso for so long, but I just watched the Kitchen fight. :))

    RIP Rik
