Good call! I said his name waaay back when the notion of recasting came up and it seemed nobody agreed with me!
I'm on board with Pratt if it happens, but people have to remember that Indiana Jones not only has to pull off the action and humor, but he must also be able to 'turn that off' and be a College Professor! And not a goofball, fun Professor either-- a GOOD one! One who takes his job seriously and really knows his stuff! Look at Ford in Raiders of the Lost Ark: after the very first scene with the Idol, he's shown at the college, all cleaned up and shaved, and his demeanor is practically night and day!
Practically like Clark Kent and Superman!
Can Pratt pull that off? We will see.... but when I picture him in the classroom I picture a teacher who could have students throw balls of paper at him, laugh, and throw them back.
However, he didn't succeed in his mission of killing Bruce Willis in 'RED'. ;)
Yeah, that's a pretty tiny part of Indy's character. Nonetheless, Pratt was pretty convincing as a dinosaur expert, I don't see why he couldn't be convincing as an archaeology expert.
Master_Dahark does raise a good point about the Clark Kent/Superman, Ford was adept getting over that awkward professor but then making that transformation to whip cracking adventurous archaeologist.
I certainly don't want to see Ford in the role again, the best thing to do is not have him in at all as people won't be able to get him out of their heads as Indy. A new guy and new start, they could take a note from that Spy series which did rather good (well to some) going down this route.
The Terminator franchise is going to kill itself off again if they keep casting that aging Austrian oak all the time.
One thing is 100% for sure.
He'll be back......
Did have a thought though watching the first 2 episodes of Penny Dreadful S2 that I'd love to see Dalton play Van Helsing in a proper adaptation of Bram Stokers Dracula and Mad Mikklesen playing the count.
but this would give the chance to set the series right back where it belongs, in the late 20s/early to mid 30s, and have Indy going up against Nazis again... i know some on here mentioned about "not remaking Indiana Jones movies".. you don't have to - continue on with new adventures just like James Bond did - personally, i think that is what we all want to see and what we all hope for.. and if Spielberg is involved with it, no way he is going to tell a story he already told... this might be an opportunity to give Dr. Jones his "Casino Royale" moment - an "Indy Begins" if you will... they could go back and reintroduce Marion and their first meeting - maybe even professor Ravenwood (as we never got to meet him), heck maybe even a cameo by Forestal (way before he gets the ol' spears in the beginning of Raiders)
So true. The archaeological world with action also made sense with the fact Hitlers SS Paranormal Division being a real thing, and the delusion of Hitler thinking he could win the war with the help of Demons and mystical powers. Jones really does only belong in this time line 20,30,40's.
I think Sharlto Copley is a really good choice. He looks the part and he's really good at blending into roles. He's one of the few actors where I never see him as the actor at all while watching him, I always see him as the character.

Looks like takes after his 'old man' and apparently reaced max level, lol
For all of the intrigue and power behind the idea of the garden of Eden it is rarely used in literature or films
Theological history and potential discovery of lost items/ locations has been a hobby of mine for a good 20 years now
Would Indy still have the familiar leather jacket, tan pants, Safari shirt and satchel? Or would they change it up some? (I figure the hat is a given)
When they rebooted Robocop they changed his appearance head to toe- would Indy suffer the same fate?
If they make it a straight sequel that gives new adventures but ignores the new cast, we might be ok.
That does raise another question though: did Ford's Indy seriously wear the same stuff in all the movies? I'd be certain the hat is the same throughout the years (since he's so sentimental towards it) and I suppose it's a stretch but the leather jacket could be the same. Other than that I'm picturing his closet at home full of identical shirt and pants and that makes me smile:)
The trousers and shirt (khaki colour against the sand and heat) are reminiscent of the army, specifically the trousers, which are roughly WW2 American army Officer style.
Hard wearing for all his digging and fighty needs.
The shirt is an old Safari style, again perfect for whatever weather and situations he's likely to come up against.
Is his closet at home full of identical shirt and pants? Very likely, a
