I wonder if they will release a novelization for Indy 5. Lucasfilm releases them for almost every movie they ever released. They should!
But that’s Bond! “Put it all on red” in Macau, etc. I bet the company could have put four million pounds to use too!
Basically, I like to think that both of us and neither of us are correct. Shröedingers Opinions. ;)
They cut ? Horrible ! The TV show aired in a certain way, in terms of content. How DARE they ? I know it's their property, but a person buys a DVD to see what was originally broadcast !
That’s George Lucas for you. Always cutting things to make them “modern.”
Cancelled Emperor’s Tomb sequel.
I believe there was also that rumored Indiana Jones title that was going to use the Euphoria physics engine employed by Rockstar. That would've been stunning.
The "Euphoria physics engine" ? Sounds like a spooky device in an Indy story !
I thought that it was! Lol
Oh, OK. Who was Rockstar ???

'Young Indy' reboot, maybe?
I saw something earlier suggest the only way to go forward with an Indy show without Indiana Jones would have to be by bringing Short Round back as a lead or co-lead. It seems to be the only organic way without retconning a ton or rushing something from the next movie.
It seems like they’ll never take this route for any of their properties because of Solo, which is stupid, because recasting those characters was not what went wrong with that film.
Agreed, but then Ms Kennedy said they’d never recast, so it’ll be interesting to see what shape this takes.
Maybe if they recast Young Indy rather than Indy it doesn’t count? :)
Some possible ideas of where the show could go. I’d say honestly reboot Indy as a whole.
I don't know who's working today that I'd trust to deliver on the level of 80s Spielberg. There's just no modern equivalent. Perhaps the directors of The Lego Movie, Phil Lord and Chris Miller, have the right sensibility and humor to get some of it right. Would love to give it to Quentin Tarantino and see what happens.
Exactly. Recast Indy! It has always surprised me that they didn't do that since the days of The Last Crusade or pushed to get Ford into doing more Indy films. I love Ford. He's a movie star...he's really good and he should have had more Indy films in his younger days. But someone like Michael Douglas could have replaced him, that's if Ford didn't want to continue, which I doubt. Then maybe a Val Kilmer of the 90s. Then maybe Brad Pitt next, then Bradley Cooper next. We would have had 3 or 4 different Indiana Jones actors by now. It's odd how they keep leaving it dormant for years, then activating it out of the blue. For a character, that was conceived because Spielberg wasn't given Bond, he's supposed to have had at least 15 films by now. That's why I'm not super-excited about this latest one, because once this latest instalment comes out, everything's in limbo again...for this major character.
Lucasfilm would NOT rehire them. After the SOLO troubles (both duos, the directors and Kathleen Kennedy and Lawrence Kasdan) are too blame, neither side wants to work together again. As for QT, he only wants to work on his own material it seems.
Yeah, precisely. My only favorites are out of the picture. I haven't been at all impressed with what Marvel has been doing with its streaming, so I have little faith in a recasted Indy show.
Some rumors, believe what you want.

"All my spies actually said was Phoebe Waller-Bridge puts on Indy’s hat, takes Indy’s whip, and in a brave and stunning display of girl power she becomes the besest Indy evar at the end of all six version of the movie."
Really?
Also the YouTuber also says that “according to rumours from my Hollywood spies there is talk that Chapek may decide not to release it and take a tax write-off for it or to dump it onto Disney+ and hope that enough train wreck rubberneckers will sign up for the D+ service just to take a look out of morbid curiosity.”
What a load of bull. Apologies @MaxCasino, this isn't pointed at you, articles like this just make me mad haha
It’s ok, I’m just trying to keep the thread alive! It’s also a bit fun to speculate.
Marvel and Lucasfilm are two different companies though, even if they’re owned by the same one.
