Well said. No matter how you spin it...ahem...spin it, the title is weak.
They can take on greatness.
I just wonder if Gen Z movie goers won't be enticed to see a 80 year old action hero. My guess is no. Older fans will go see it out of love of the franchise.
give me Indy over MI any day.
When I think of what they did with Star Wars. Wow they just killed any chance of future movies. But I don't wish to digress into another topic. I pray they don't do the same to Indiana that they did to Luke.
The Mandalorian is fizzling out for me. Seasons one & two were my prayer to the gods. Obi-Wan was enjoyable. Boba Fett was a Force choke. Andor was amazing. We take our pleasures from these offerings where we can!
On a similar subject, the idiot on YouTube in the mask is desperately trying to claim they’re reshooting most of the movie right now (presumably so then he can claim he was right when all of his previous lies about the film are revealed to be such when the film releases), however it was rated by the MPAA a couple of weeks ago, meaning it is long finished and locked. These people make things up.
I actually enjoy both of these guys, but for different reasons; the guy in the mask is a complete put on and I don’t buy a fraction of the stuff he’s spewing. His shows are like a car crash ; I don’t want to look but can’t.
As far as The Critical Drinker, yes he has an over the top gimmick, he makes many valid observations.
We do agree about mask guy though: total lies- I only mention him so that everyone knows to disregard. This time around he's saying that Indy died after jumping out of the plane in the last trailer and they've reshot that so he survives: there were photos from the set of them filming the landing back a year or so and Indy was very much shown to be sitting up and fine. 100% BS
Most critics with a gimmick have a way of making people not like them. If there’s one critic I can’t stand, it’s the Nostalgia Critic. He was NEVER funny. Just screaming with bad pacing. And mistreatment of staff members. How he still has followers or is allowed to make videos is beyond me.
As for Indy, we will probably see some early spoilers, if it debuts at Cannes like Crystal Skull.
Ehh it just goes to show that anyone can take a spare room or a basement, put some movie cases behind them and make edgy comments about films and get 1M+ subscribers on YouTube.
The only one that I highly enjoy in that category is Sean Chandler. He does great breakdowns ranking franchises and even with Bond, he ranked them all together and then ranked each actors film's separately.
I remember there was a critic that wrote long film essays in all caps because his shtick was that he talks The Incredible Hulk. “HULK SAYS…” and so on. That guy had a huge following and so many I knew told me how great his essays were but I could never get past his all caps shtick. And whenever I tried I heard it in “Hulk” voice. It was so obnoxious to try to read.
This is why I try sticking to professional critics, or at least one that seems reasonable in their approach to film. Not all of them are perfect. I loved Roger Ebert’s writing, but even he could go over the top when he despised something. But at least I know where they’re coming from, and they’re writing for themselves rather than cynically trying to nab subscribers by spouting right wing rhetoric.
While others spew , and bathe in left wing, progressive rhetoric; I guess there’s something for everyone. 😉
Yes these ones are very cynically pandering to what their small amount of subscribers want to hear. Quite scary. And they, like the mask one will just attempt to lie their way out of their lies, as with his comments on this film. All of his 'reports' on it will have been true, it's just that they entirely reshot the film because his brave reporting exposed how bad it was going to be so the version you see in cinemas will be completely different. That's why, honest. And it was all down to women or something.
YouTube seems to be predominantly right wing, but even that said I avoid the left leaning and go find professional critics who approach things with less of a political bent.
I don’t like RedLetterMedia, but they always tried to be true to themselves rather than pander to either spectrum.
Gotta click to subscribe!!! Reaffirm my politicks!
Bring on Indiana Jones; I’m hopeful for a fun ride.
That’s sorta what I meant haha
It's not about 'boners' or jerking off.
Lol, so true, they just can’t move on. Lol.
I doubt most of those YouTubers even believe in what they spout. They just try to keep their numbers up. There was one that was ready to bash AVATAR 2 because of its association with Disney, and then completely flipped the script by claiming it was successful at the box office because it’s “anti-woke”.
It’s all hilarious.
You can hardly act like you haven't been beating off too (I guess if we're using this charming turn of phrase).
Yeah I'm hardly going to respect liars, no matter how much that's inferred to be akin to masturbation(?). Life is too short to put up with them.
I personally don't get any of the YouTube obsession over any of these folks, whether they're trashing a film that's a year from release or otherwise. I have no stake in the game and couldn't care less about their videos but people seem to really eat them up, especially when they're soaked in drama and controversy.
