MMPA Make Media Physical Again!
I’d join that :P
Me too. It saddens me that Goldeneye 007 didn't have a physical release for ALL modern console platforms this year.
It was just a bit behind Guardians 3, and quite a bit ahead of third place finisher, Into The Spiderverse (which is telling when thinking of demographics).
There was quite a campaign to rip apart this film before it was theatrically released. And for once, the basement dwellers inflicted damage (interesting to see the scores of DoD RISE, once it was released).
I have a feeling that the online distribution will have legs and the continued word of mouth will show that the mouth-breathing trolls were absolutely wrong about this film, but, unfortunately, their unhinged hatred for Kathleen Kennedy did hurt the box office of this film.
I’m not doubting that an 80 year old star may’ve not turned-on some people, but usually these mouth breathing, YouTube “influencers” can barely move the needle on anything.
Their vitriol BEFORE the film was released was relentless and this time did have some sway (and it was interesting to note that once the film was released theatrically, the positive audience reviews went up).
In between TLC & KOTC we had sporadical content such as the Young Indy show, comics, games, novels. There was nothing in the years or immediate months leading up to DOD.
Plus, they weren’t really targeting the 16-25 year old moviegoers here. Disney we’re solely aiming this film at die-hard fans, which is fine.
I’m so glad to hear that it’s doing well on digital. I’m sure a DVD/ Blu Ray release in time for Christmas will do well too. It’s such a lovely film, I’m glad to see positive word of mouth start to spread and that the film is finding a wider audience.
Indy 5 is not just the only Indiana Jones film to lose money,it’s the lowest rated entry in the series according to rotten tomatoes.
It’s a pity that there are those who take the failure of a film that they like so personally that they resort to personal attacks and using childish insults like “ basement dwellers “ and “ mouth breathing trolls “
It’s just a movie.Chill out.
(1) Shia LaBoeuf was unfortunately a poor choice to succeed Harrison Ford (RIP River Phoenix, a good choice)
(2) DoD came out too late after Crystal Skull, and
(3) the nostalgic, older, more at-risk audience that loved Indy in his first run hasn't necessarily returned to movie theaters post-Covid.
Considering the "emasculated" verbal diatribes that your favourites spew out in the videos that you post here, it's a bit rich for you to tell anyone to chill out.
Anyway, we should probably just try and ignore all this stuff now; those YT people have had too much publicity as it is.
I think some of those most probably did add to the issue, yeah. But I don't think LaBeouf was ever considered to be an actual replacement.
I'd agree DoD was too late, even though I like the film as it is. Why they didn't do it as soon as they bought Lucasfilm I don't know: I look at Ford in Force Awakens and think that he's looking in great shape to do it then. But then I guess we wouldn't have got the 1944 bit, which was pretty good fun.
Agreed! Love to see it :)
I'll chuckle with you. But that won't let me have my much-coveted Blu-ray disk to see that movie yet again (and several times), nor a decent CD to listen to the score in "lossless" quality. Streaming is ruining quality, not necessarily forever, but for the time being.
Any movie that reminds us that Nazis are not 'some very fine people' is welcomed by me.
yes and sadly some of them got into the white house
@Scaramanga1974 no.
We don’t want to descend into that.
Then let me dilute it a bit- they have infiltrated so many places in the world it's hard to keep track.
And DOD was arguably the MOST anti-Nazi Indy film yet. Coincidence that it did less box office than Crystal Skull?
Sorry, one of my favourite movies is Donner's Conspiracy Theory.... B-)
Always makes me cry at the end. So well written, directed & acted...
