These set photos have certainly shifted the discussion.

Ford looks great in those "candid" shots. Call me cynical, but I think that a publicist is wisely getting these photos out to counter the "he's too old" voices.

If so, it's a great move.

Well he was certainly stood in the middle of the main road going through that village, so I think they must have been at least prepared that he would be seen! :D

Remember that very crazy rumour from many months ago that Brad Pitt will be in the film? Well, Brad Pitt is rumoured to be in the Newcastle area next week. (Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/indianajones/comments/nwwmhk/television_report_this_morning_by_bbc_breakfast/from 1:24)

His movie Bullet Train is already in post-production, the movie Lost City of D is being filmed in the Dominican Republic (and Brad only has a mall role in it) and Babylon will be filmed in LA. Now, I am not saying Brad will be in Indy 5, but it would be kind of crazy if he was.

That’s nuts. I remember years and years ago, maybe in 2002 or so that Indy 4 was in development and it was set to star Brad Pitt as Indy’s younger brother who is a rival archaeologist 🤣

  • I think we now know the reason Speilberg stepped down as director. Post Schindler's list he was quoted as saying he'd never depict Nazi's as fantasy villains again

Yes, I might be a bit disappointed if they are the main villains.

    He's cutting a bit of a dash:

How de-aged are we going, I wonder? Will it truly be set in WW2 era?

I get 'The Irishman' CGI vibes. I hate that!

The majority of the film will be set in the 1960s, with some WW2 scenes. As for what percentage of the film will be set during WW2, nobody knows.

I don’t these are WW2 era. This is set in the 60’s ; in real time , starting with Raiders, it would be the late 70’s . I think they will be a mild de-aging for these segments and something more substantial for the WW2 segment.

Was he de aged in rise of skywalker? Something about the Kylo ren scene - the smoothness of his cheeks looked weird to me

Me too, and Marion as well, if it’s HF’s truly last time.

It's great to see Ford back in the jacket and fedora. I'm extremely excited for this.

Well it was confirmed when we saw the young Indy stunt mask! :)

This is a bit stranger because he's not got a darker wig on- I'm not sure why they'd CG his hair? I wonder if the dots here are to add injuries, or possibly just make him look wet?

@mtm you must have overlooked this.
I think there will be different degrees of de-aging, with the 1960’s being subtle and the 1940’s more substantial.

I don't think they'd need tracking dots for mild de-ageing (if they're doing it at all).

I don't seem them worrying hugely about Ford's age not matching Indy's- they didn't last time.

Absolutely they would use points of registration. Even mild manipulations require points of reference.

I don't know why else they'd have the dots in this sequence though. Surely it can only be de-aging. It is interesting that the dots are very slight and only on one part of his face.

Wait... is it definitely purposeful dots?

Cause Toby Jones has a dot on his lip that obviously can't be for CGI purposes...

No, plenty of mild adjustments get made without them. If we see him wearing these dots throughout all of the filming for the next few months then you may be right.

Also, could it be that they started filming with the WW2 scenes to give more time to the visual effects team because de-aging is time consuming and every week counts?

That's a very good point and makes perfect sense.

De aging does not concern me, Disney/Marvel did an amazing job with the likes of Samual L. Jackson, Michael Douglas and Robert Downey Jnr...

The inclusion of Toby Jones into Indy 5 only makes me happier.
If it's better than KOTCS then I'll be happy. Aside from a few moments, the last Indy adventure was a big let down. Possibly because it looked like most of it was filmed on stages, rather than real locations. Oh and the inclusion of Shia LaBeouf.
The cast alone for Indy 5 suggests it's looking good,

Those are all the best examples of the technology and yet most still didn't look great or convince, I feel. Downey looked like a waxwork (granted, it was early days for this sort of thing then) and Jackson looked nice when he wasn't moving, but when he did move he moved like old Sam Jackson, which ruined the whole illusion. Douglas was the only decent effort I think - and that's likely to do with the fact that they upped Hayley Atwell's age in the same scene so the FX were easier to accept. There was a direct visual contrast present that sold it a bit better.

I'm really excited for this next Indy film, and everything about it so far has been very promising, but I do hope that the de-aging stuff is kept to a minimum as I feel there are still some inherent limitations with the tech.
