    I like certain scenes in Crystal Skull ie the first few scenes including the silhouette of Indy with hat and the warehouse scene. Harrison Ford was in fine form, return of Marion was great and Cate Blanchett was fine as villainess.. Negatives are Shia Leboef cry baby character, poor special effects and lack of practical stunt work, soundtrack very average by John Williams standards and THAT Scene involving swinging monkeys. And John Hurts character was pointless. Should have made him a serious character ie Abner Ravenwood as originally rumoured.

    We can’t expect it to be a perfect depiction of young Ford, because it isn’t young Ford. But if it’s enough to suspend disbelief for a while I’m sure it will be fine: plus the tech improves every time.

    Personally think Crystal skull has very few redeeming features. Mac, ox, Marion etc all superfluous.

    I do like the idea of the nuclear test town though. And the dummies burning is a strong visual image. Other than that completely forgettable

    Al Pacino was happy with Irishman de-aging… they did for both middle aged and older versions of himself… he said it could keep his career going for another 10 years… maybe Ford has come around to the idea based on that, or it was a studio mandate. I did see some deep fake versions of the Irishman on YouTube though that showed they can look better than studio CGI deaging.

    Another great one is visual FX artists using open source software to "fix" dodgy stop motion in older films.

    Somebody with very keen eyes has noticed that Indy’s jacket appears to carry the bullet hole in the arm from Raiders. Also: no wedding ring this time.

    Ant man is great. Ps obviously we already know he wouldn’t be wearing a wedding ring if the scenes are set during the war.

    I speak now from the professor's pulpit in a proper Hogwarts classroom...

    All right then ! The FIFTH Indiana Jones cinematic adventure is scheduled for release on the
    same
    date
    as Black Adam.

    I note that there may be crossover between and amongts fans of:
    Dr. Jones and Mr. Harrison Ford,
    comic book character films,
    and Black Adam and the impressive Dwayne Johnson, also fondly known as
    "The Rock.".

    I posit that this might NOT be a negative approach for either film in terms of their box office receipts-- though conventional wisdom says to avoid selecting a date when another big, boffo-as-they-say movie is scheduled to open the same date.

    You see, it seems to me that people who see one might enjoy the sensations of fun and excitement -- regardless of which one they see first -- and be happy to enjoy those thrills with another film right away.

    A synergistic effect, in other words.

    Thoughts ? I turn now to thee, o esteemed opiners...yes ? You there ! Speak up ! We can't hear you !

    Why is the 60s still being insisted by some here? Mangold is no doubt a 60s fanboy, but there’s never been official confirmation that this specific film will take place in the 60s.

    Mr. Mangold stated a while ago that all the films he was working on would have a 1960s (time) setting. Whether he meant that to include the 5th Indiana Jones cinematic spectacular, or not, is known best by him. Perhaps -- in his mind -- he was not yet deep into IJ 5. There is other supporting information which would contain support the understanding that he DID mean to include IJ 5 is collection of admittedly less certain reports that the film would involve the USA-USSR "space race" which occurred largely in the 1950s and 1960s. It was described at times as something of an "our Nazi scientists vs. their Nazi scientists" situation, though this certainly would indicate a lack of appreciation of the other folks who worked on it in both programs. Even so, the point of that description meant to speak to the important contributions of the "recruited/seized" scientists who'd formerly worked in Germany.

    By the way -- I am surprised not to yet see here any posters noting the quote in today's news that Mr. Mangold stated on his own Social Media account(s) that "Indiana Jones and the Empire of Evil" is DEFINITELY not the selected title. He noted that NO title has yet been selected. So -- might it be LATER selected ? Perhaps, though one gets the impression that it would not be selected later, either.

    I've a feeling we might still see some of the rumoured plot from an earlier script involving stolen Nazi gold looking at the pictures of the train and Toby Jones holding what looks like a gold ingot.

    The 60s setting was noted by Ford in the past too… I’m not sure the resistance to this pretty well established rumor, if you must… it’s coming after Crystal Skull late 50s, and I wouldn’t see a need to put it in 70s given there’s a lot more rich material of the 60s to draw from
