    Fan art.

In the back of my head I knew that of course, but I haven't seen it around, and you got to admit it looks good :) Something like that would be nice...

The most irritating thing about this artwork is that it is ultimately generic Bond. They might argue it is symbolic of the return to 'Bond' as we know and expect it but I have my suspicions it's a lack of attention to separating Skyfall and the 50th. The two are branded too similar in my opinion. Even if you don't like the QoS artwork at least it attempts in some way to capture the feel of the movie. It's distinctively QoS and if you're a kid flicking through a poster book in 20 years time having never seen the films, I'm willing to bet you'd go for QoS over SF. Simply because it stands out in style, much like those from the 60's and 70's. Hell, even the Brosnan posters give you an essence of the film and deliver a tone. These, so far give me nothing and evoke no emotion. They leave me feeling cold.

When I see a Bond poster I should immediately want to buy it. This is quite frankly bottom of my list of poster priorities.
  • The new poster looks generic and Craig looks depressed, the lying down one just looks stupid. Teaser wins.
Daniel is way to big so that you cant see anything of the gunbarrel and the only other thing is a Union Jack limply fluttering in the background? Bollocks.

    I want L007K Up, L007K Down, L007K OUT!!
Bond flanked by Beatrice and Naomie, a sombre looking Judi in one corner, a shady looking Bardem in the other and then tube trains crashing, the DB5 somewhere and f**king explosions everywhere. Its not subtle, its not original and it would probaby get laughed at by the art school prick who designed these but its classic. I may not know much about Bond posters but I know what I like.

The teaser is the best, its plain and simple, the rest just seem basic like they've forgot to photoshop in the background in

Unfortunately, I don't think any of the Skyfall posters are particularly good. If I was forced to pick one, I'd say that the teaser is the best, but that's only because the others are of such poor quality that it basically wins by default rather than because it's a good poster.

The one that was just released and the quad featuring Bond lying down are, IMO, two of the worst posters in franchise history.

That's a bit more like it!

I want the real thing to really impress. No doubt coming on Bond Day?
  • Ok, well, let me judge my most favourite poster from each of Craig's Bond films (teaser posters excluded):

    'Casino Royale': http://posterwire.com/wp-content/uploads/casino_royale_007.jpg

What I liked about this Casino Royale poster? Simple, but moreover elegant and classic. The poster itself looks very sophisticated, which we couldn't say of the Die Another Day-posters.

I disliked the portrayal of Bond on this poster. Yes, I know its the movie that started Bond, both as a revived franchise and as a character that turns into a self-assured spy. But I am glad those days, of 'that blunt instrument' are a bit gone now.

    'Quantum Of Solace': http://ak.buy.com/PI/0/1000/221261272.jpg

This....this was just wrong. From a blunt instrument to a killer going mental. That was my initial thought of this poster and it had nothing to do with James Bond. Yes, that's how the producers wanted us to see the new Bond more and more: Like a close brother of Jason Bourne.

Also, a complete lack of elegance on this poster. Perhaps the only thing I liked about this one-sheet, was the sandy colour. But apart from that, the poster gave me a depressed feeling, actually not looking forward to see the movie. And I was right after I saw the movie.

    'SkyFall': http://www.007.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/SKYFALL-UK-POSTER_650.jpg?84cd58

I am honest. I think this is the best poster, excluding teasers, from Craig's Bond films. I don't understand why people are 'angry' about this poster. I adore it, like it a lot. Why?

I finally can see Bond 'undestroyed' and 'mentally healthy' on a Bond poster. He IS finally James Bond. His shiny, darkblue tuxedo looks astonishing on him. There is NO trace of a fight or whatsoever. He is Ian Fleming's James Bond 007 and not a cheap Jason Bourne rip-off. Bourne? Eat your heart out you mental loco gunman.

We also see Bond on the backdrop of Maurice Binder's iconic original gunbarrel design. For me, that is a sign that we will finally see the good old Binder-barrel again. If you ask me, a worthy gesture to the fans and also a nod to 50 years of James Bond.

Some other details: The skyline of London, with off course the waving Union Jack. Can someone remember when we saw the Union Jack on a Bond poster? Well? And I am happy to see Bond carrying his good old Walther PPK, in an elegant, sophisticated way.

Finally, I think for the 50th anniversary, it is a good idea to show only Bond on the poster and no other characters or Bond-girls. It's Bond. Nobody does it better.

@Gustav_Graves, have you even seen the Bourne films? So much unexplained hatred.
  • @Gustav_Graves, have you even seen the Bourne films? So much unexplained hatred.

I actually did. When strictly not comparing with each other, I think both the Bourne franchise and the Bond franchise are two very fine, iconic film franchises.

Still, I do think the Bond franchise should be the one that is setting trends, not following them. And the latter more or less happened IMO during the last couple of Bond films. QOS was a Bond film, but simply not my style of Bond film.

So a lot comes down to personal taste as well. And having said that, I think with 'SkyFall' James Bond comes back with a bang. Not too much the 'secret agent going rogue' all the time, but the self-assured, sophisticated and well-thought Bond I want to see.

And that's actually the impression I get when watching the new Skyfall UK one-sheet poster. By the way, isn't 'hatred' a bit overreacting?

@Marketto007 is that official or one of your own ;) In any case that's brilliant in its simplicity.

And for a minute my hopes had risen for the official line of posters. Maybe you should apply for the job of poster master ("P"), @marketto007?

Great work @marketto007! I really like the last one.

But we should stick to officially released posters in this thread, to avoid confusion :)

Sure sure, thanks Disco. I'll keep them on the Fan Art thread. I posted here because it was a new Photo of Craig as Bond :)

Because they're boring and I'm fearful that the final poster will be as equally uninspiring. I want a Bond poster to excite me and fill me with intrigue with its tanterlising images of action, glamour and adventure. These do nothing for me except tell me that there's a Bond film coming soon which I already know about. I want a Bond poster to look like a Bond poster should. I can't see why they keep getting it so wrong. They need to flick through that book of theirs called "James Bond 007 - 50 Years Of Movie Posters" and not look past anything after TLD for inspiration. That should do the trick.

It's kind of sad when a fan can do an awesome job that's waayyy better than the real poster. Great work @marketto007
  • Like seriously @marketto007 this is unbelievably good work.
This is also a nice transition from the teaser. Months ago when it came out, the release of Skyfall felt so far away, and so did Bond on the poster, so far away. Now with that newer poster, Bond is so much closer :D
  • It's actually pretty shocking to think it's actually 25 years since the last truly great main poster.

Teasers for LTK, DAD, CR and SF were pretty good but everything else since 87 has been photoshopped crap.

    This was pretty good IMO:

  • Apart from the original "teaser" poster with the gunbarrel which I really like...the rest of the "SKYFALL" poster work has been really unimaginative. There doesn't seem to be any clear focus of where the poster advertising campaign is going. The original teaser poster was classy...as someone else was saying the art of the movie poster seems to be gone. For the 50th anniversary they should really be doing a lot better.....I say fire the poster marketing dept...however the trailer department are doing a great job!

I would love to see a painted/drawn poster like in the old days of Bond posters.

Well except why would you hold a gun like that? If you fire with it held close up to your eye like it is in that poster the recoil will probably break your wrist and the gun will probably smash into your face and break your nose.

Unless he is cleaning it or something but why would you put that in the poster?

@TheWizardOfIce, it was probably to conceal a good portion of Brosnan's face for a mysterious effect. Look at all FPS games of today: when you zoom in, the gun would be resting against the bridge of your nose. It makes no sense at all.
