To keep within the spirit of this thread I thought I would offer a title of my own:

“The last hand of a defector”

If a James Bond film script could be written around this title it could pay homage to the Casino and gambling element of Fleming’s character, with some well placed card table action. (Potentially Monte Carlo)

MI6 hearing whispers of a possible defection, and the promise of a goldmine of a major intelligence coup would need to send one of their agents out to investigate. Bond being the obvious choice would be tasked to arrange a clandestine meeting, with the assurance of a secure point of rendezvous.

This would form the basis of a mission where he has to track the defector and confirm his/her credentials are genuine, and then discuss the terms of a negotiated exchange, and more importantly the harvest value of bringing him/her in.

This could show a return to some old-hand fieldwork with drop and collection boxes; and to connect this to another thread create the opportunity for Bond to disguise himself, leaning towards a deep cover operation.

The defectors home country’s intelligence services reaction would be to locate the identity of their defector, stage a hunt to such an extreme, meeting worldwide capability, in order to prevent the exchange from taking place.

There would be a kill order issued to remove the immediate threat of a disastrous intelligence leak permanently, and anyone assigned to protect him/her in the process.

There are plenty of Fleming chapter titles that would make good film titles. Here's a lengthy selection:

A Whisper of Love, A Whisper of Hate

    Cards With a Stranger

    The Eye That Never Sleeps

    Bitter Champagne

    We Don't Like Mistakes

    The Job Comes Second

    Death is So Permanent

    The Slaughterer

    The Wizard of Ice

    The Beautiful Lure

    Black on Pink

    The Killing Bottle

    The Finger on the Trigger

    The Long Scream

    Reflections in a Double Bourbon

    The Pressure Room

    Crime de la Crime

    The Richest Man in History

    Take It Easy Mr. Bond

    How to Eat a Girl

    When the Kissing Stopped

    The Shadower

    The Gambit of Shame

    Death For Breakfast

    Downhill Only

    Fork Left For Hell!

    Blood-lift

    Hell's Delight

    The Death Collector

    Slay It With Flowers

    The Question Room

    Blood and Thunder

    The Easy Grand

Another candidate might be Fleming's original title for OHMSS--The Belles of Hell.

I still think The Rough with the Smooth (working title for FYEO) could work. We are due for a long title!
