Do people really think QoS is the WORST James Bond movie?

I've noticed a lot of people saying it on these forums, and a lot of lists of their favourite Bonds have QoS right at the very bottom. I'm just wondering whether people here genuinely feel that Quantum of Solace is the WORST Bond movie.

Look, I'm not defending it as a good movie, but it wasn't THAT bad. I think sometimes people need to watch it again to realise that it's got some good parts to it, great acting by Craig, and some fantastic action sequences (opening car chase and the finale come to mind). Sure, the plot wasn't great, but the knowledge that the Writers Strike practically make Craig write some of the script helps appreciate the movie more.

Then when we compare it to other Bond movies, is it really the worst? Worse than DAD, worse than Moonraker or TMWTGG? They were pretty poor movies, and I just can't put them anywhere above QoS in the quality department.

What do you guys think? Is Quantum of Solace really the WORST Bond movie ever?

Hardly.

Sure, the editing is terrible, and the scipt is pretty weak, but the film is full of stand out moments, such as the pre-titles car chase, the whole opera scene, oil fields and the plane chase. The film looks lovely, the score is good, and the actors give good performances all 'round. It's in my top 10.

It's not the worst but easily one of the most disappointing because there's a great adventure hidden in the movie, problem is, we just can't see it because the editing was a complete joke and the film just felt rushed. DAD is significantly worse.

Yes...QOS was an attempt to be too clever, the producers and Craig being artistic and turning there back on what makes Bond Bond. Should have been made in a similar way that LTK was made. It has a weak plot, poor action sequences, brooding 007 performance, A LOT of Dench, rubbish villain, weak henchmen, bad nods to past films, shaky camera, poor dialogue. Far too artistic looking and just very weak, rightly dislodged DAD off the bottom as the worst Bond

Not at all, I rank it very high. Considering all the problems with it it's amazing how good it really is! The editing is terrible at times and it should have another half hour minimum (and they had material for it), the title song could have been better but I actually like the story and I think Craig does an amazing job with what he has.

I'm amazed that people think this, truly I am. It's disappointing certainly, but it had a lot of issues that would have sunk many films no matter what the genre. However, to rank it below the likes of DAD which had 3 years of development and little to no issues, or the cheesefest cash in that was MR, no, sorry, don't think so.

I would not say that? Just that there was a lack of quality drama in the film, the style of edit did not help, and just felt rushed through the story. Probably due to the shorter run time of the film.

I don't think this should count. As we are so close to the release of Skyfall, I think it's appropriate that we should look back and reflect on the previous movie. Also, this thread is more of a poll, to see what this forum generally feels about the movie. Lots of those other threads are either versus pages, or based on a news article, or a rant by someone who didn't like the movie. And it's nice to get the views of people that weren't on here when it first came out.

Then again, if the mods really feels it's inappropriate and been done before, so be it.

I think it's the worst. With DAD, at least I enjoy most of the first half, it's problems don't really show until towards the end. So at least DAD started off well.

With QOS, the problems are there from the start and it doesn't get any better. I think it's just a mess that doesn't even feel like a Bond film a lot of the time.

No. QOS is certainly not the worst. That honour for me goes to DAD. I actually quite like QOS!...I don't see where all this negativity comes from.

No, Quantum of Solace beats all of Moore's movies , people are way too hard on QOS around here. Don't get ne wrong, it didn't live up to CR, But it sure wasn't one of the worst bond movies. My favorite scene is when Bond stabs and kills that guy in hotel. Very gritty. but yeah the whole Dominic green plot and story was stupid, the film lost it's core plot and ventured in too many directions. Just like Martin Campbell said, "it lost it's way". but it sure wasn't the worst bond movie. The worst on my opinion is Moonraker

No this is a pretty cool film, could have been better, but then Casino Royale could probably've been better..yeh know. The reason why people react is because CR was so impressive, anything that followed would have been less, so less. For me, my only quibble was M because she's every bloody everywere, or she's on the phone. That was a weakness, that should have been caught. (In Skyfall she is central to the plot so it will make more sense). Some good stuff is small, simple you can overlook it if your'e caught up in the editing, the editing... let it go. When you watch it again take in this, that fight to the death on the balcony, that's a mean kill with the elevated arm. Mr White's line about the composer, so withering. Look at the expression on Craig's face when he confront's Green by the balcony at the party. That's a look you never even saw in CR. The scenes with Craig and Giannini superb, that taxi trip with Rene trying to get the cab driver to shut up, very funny. Somebody mentioned drama, you want drama I give you Bond about to put a bullet through the brain of his only true ally. The ending a nice change of pace for once, both Dominic and Vesper's lover are at the mercy of a wiser Bond. He walks off into the darkness and we hear the sound of the thrown pendant. Last shot of it on the snow looks like one of the classic paperback covers..I'll leave it to you guys to figure out which one, you'll be pleasantly surprised. Of course the main titles were a complete f up...am I right?

Theres a couple of the regulars who makes lots of noise about disliking it (mainly those who grew up with Brosan) but when we do a Quantum of Solace versus...poll it actually does very well.

I have thought it was an adult piece since it came and have been beating its drum since release. Due to Skyfall the bashers have been out in force recently.

Well I completely agree with doubleoego. I never quite liked LTK, and It has Sanchez and Dario but as I see it, QOS villain is much better than Sanchez. If you think of it, Green is a henchman, the same way Dr. No, Kronsten, Largo and so on. We don't get to see the real villain neither in CR nor in QOS, so he is far more intelligent than Sanchez who was caught in the PTS and was only saved by his money.

I saw all his films at the cinema and I thought he was a great Bond, but I'd seen all of Connery's, OHMSS and most of Moore's before GE was even out.

And anyway, @00Beast and @Creasy47 are probably the two biggest Brosnan fans on here and they like QOS.
