QOS sits right in the middle/above average range for me... it's not a great Bond movie, but it's good - it's just got a couple glaring flaws..... but its far from the worst in the series for me - DAD and TMWTGG hold that title..
For the car chase it's ok but I think the boat chase is very poor.
The plane fight leaves me annoyed because it interrupts a nice, sensitive moment.
This. But I have to admit it entered in my top 10 recently, at nr 10! :-D It pushed GE a bit further down.
QOS sits at #8 in my most recent list - though i may go back and do some rearranging again lol...
6. Goldeneye
7. Live And Let Die
8. Quantum Of Solace
9. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
10. Licence To Kill
11. The Spy Who Loved Me
He does, he's very good.
his performance holds the film together from caving in on itself lol... but seriously - his performance was on par with CR for me - in which that film i found him terrific... he had an off the cuff 'annoyed' humor to him at times, that still makes me chuckle with each viewing ..... i guess i am strange, but no one else seems to see it - instead, they seem to call him more robotic - i think the opposite.. i think in QOS he seems a little more relaxed in the role.
I actually see what you mean but I still think in CR he's given more appropriate material to play in regard to humour. The Moore-style quips in QoS don't really suit him.
Craig is grand in the final couple of scenes though.
Would I take it over DAD? Of course
Its meant to catch the audience by surprise. Which it does. I love the plane fight. I especially love the plane going into a climb and him and Camille sliding down its length.
I don't like it. It's just another quick cut action scene thrust in that interrupts the drama.
It just doesn't work for me.
And supposing one thought it was a decent scene, it is completely ruined by one of the worst use of CGI
Yep. One of the things I actually liked about the film.
Well in fairness its not as bad as the CG in DAD but it's still pretty obvious
(Waits for @actonsteve to make a jibe about the GE cliff dive)
I watched TND last night. The second half is just noisy action. There's a few good moments though (Pryce's reference to William Randolph Hurst)
TND worse than DAD?...Even the hotel room sequence with Dr Kaufman is better than anything in DAD...
Lo and behold, when that was over, and if people will still in touch with their sense of mind, we get introduced to arguably the worst James Bond theme in the history of the long running series
A lot of confusing scenes ensue, Bond does some extreme globetrotting, on a bigger level than before, some loud action scenes, a lot of running and chases but no tangible action or suspense, and all in pursuit of a nasty man who wants to cause a drought and sell back water supplies at highly inflated new prices - what an objective or masterplan
Kurylenko was nice looking, but not even Bolivian or South American, but fairly convincing and one of the better Bond girls of recent years, but the main adversary and his henchpeople were a disaster and unintentionally amusing. James Bond flies around the screen, does some incredible stunts, the aforementioned elevator escape Houdini would of been proud of, and breaks into a smile as often as Seagal, but for all that, he is a decent Bond, but the sum total - again - is that this movie failed on all fronts. You see why most don't like it, if it were just a handful of people there could be some arguement, but when it's the general consensus, that you have a crap movie on your hands, then that should tell you, or anybody, enough
Should of let this lie really, and let it slip off quietly over the horizon, but saw this on page three or four. I guess it could stay there, but if I press the submit button..
Damn, too late
The page/thread was so stubborn it didn't even want to be moved from where it was !
Once again, QOS - awful movie, and possibly worst ever. Indeed
X( [..] :(|) :-q @-)
You need to see it again, dude. :)>-
