I don't deny that it's risky. In the hands of a Tamahori and with a weak lead it can obviously end in disaster. But what I sense is that EON is just beginning to get a sense back of what Bond is all about. It's not a cartoon comedy, but it's not deadly serious Bourne-style thriller either.
I guess what I want is a return to the confident, strident, sometimes OTT film making of the 60s, 70s and 80s, where those involved so completely understood the character that they were able to stretch the boundaries but always (almost always) knew when they were taking it too far or simply straying beyond anything to do with what makes Bond Bond.
From what I've read of Skyfall I am reasonably confident that Logan, Mendes et al have achieved just this. A film grounded in reality but with some outlandish characters, sets and scenarios.
No. A few quips & gadgets don't make it camp. I don't want DAF or DAD part deux.
Quantum
Mr. White
An auction, not casino
Bond in a modern supercar
Bond in disguise (ala OP)
Craig with longer-than-skyfall, combed hair
You can likely tell OP played recently :P
- M to stay in the office and only appear for three or four scenes
- A new country or an old one that hasn't been used for the films in over 20 years
- Quantum to return
- Felix to return and have a few more scenes
- A world threatening plot
- Bond getting the girl at the end, with MI6 unsure whether or not he's still alive
- Christmas 2014 release
Actors: Naomie Harris, Jeffrey Wright, Ralph Fiennes and Ben Whishaw.
- gunbarrel at the opening
- Bond getting the girl at the end
And what I would love now is a decent adaptation of the Moonraker book : beginning with M taking Bond to its club where he confronts the villains at cards. The Moonraker plot could be transpose to our time, with an Indian industrial building a part of its spaceship in England.
The GB surely has to be at the start. I understand the narrative reasons for not having it at the start for SF but surely with EVERYTHING established now seems the perfect time to put it back in at the start.
I want the return of ESB as well. Nothing involving a cat being stroked but a serious adversary to Bond who could be his match both physicaly and mentally. Maybe even set it up so that Bond gives him the scar!
I'm very happy with John Logan having the idea for a two parter as well. Means he's got something that has enough scope to strech over two films.
It's about time. They've spent 6 years working through the character issues to get him to the point where he can finally say 'I'm James Bond!'...in fact 3 times they've done that now....
Meanwhile, my life is passing me by. So, can we have a good old-fashioned Bond movie now please?
All the elements are now present and correct and DC has earned the right to do all the trad stuff...so let's go for it.
On the other hand, I suspect DC is still troubling himself with exploring further character elements which might lead us down a different route. I'm also a little put off by this B24-25 two parter talk...just one proper action-adventure movie at a time please.
Also - keep going back to the source material. The more they can root it in Fleming, the better it always is. In terms of rebooting - Blofeld is ripe for a makeover and/or SPECTRE (you can have Quantum if you like too...)
Wait and see. Way too early.
M, Q and Moneypenny
Exotic glamorous locations
Emeli Sande to sing the song..
Anthony Hopkins or Gary Oldman for the villain
Paul Bettany for henchman
Olivia Wilde (main Bond girl)
Genevieve Padelecki (evil Bond girl)
(main girl survives, and has light hearted 'romantic' scene with Bond right at the end)
Indeed. I doubt she's on their radar unfortunately.
Depending on if she is in the bargain bucket in a couple of years time or not I would say she would be good as well
Yes, Rebecca Furguson would be another one that would be really good for a Bond song..
If we go for a bloke has to be buble. The opening of Cry me a river could be a bond song any day
Bring back Logan (add maybe Morgan or Stoppard), Deakins (or in case of Nolan get Pfister) and Baird.
Bring back Arnold or get Armstrong, Giacchino Newton Howard, or Zimmer
Bring back Fiennes as M
Bring back Whishaw as Q, Kinnear as Tanner and Wright as Leiter
Locations Australia, New York, South Africa
Title song by either GOLDFRAPP or MUSE
I like most of these :D
And maybe this two guys a baddies?
Me too. Wish Giacchino hadn't done Mission. Probably the most Barryesque composer today.
Bond meeting different characters/allies in the field, like in FRWL.
More time spent in one location.
Speaking of locations, EGYPT.
More ruthless, indiscriminate killing- plus moments such as the 'I can be alot more persuasive Tracy' scene in OHMSS, which is a great scene.
Bond going into the villains layer for the final third of the film, and having a massive shoot-out.
You should really give THE INCREDIBLES a view. Excellent film, great score.
But yes, I think Trek is Giacchinos best yet. The opening is powerful.
As for locations Craig's bond hasn't been to France so maybe that is the European location and then on from there?
Miss Moneypenny portrayed not by Harris.
Gunbarrel at the beginning!
David Arnold to return.
Titles by Daniel Kleinman.
Song sung by man.
No Quantum.
Aston Martin Vanquish, could be invisible, today's technologies allow this. Not like in DAD.
Plot set as NATO-Russian conflict.
The year 2014
The title is Risico or non-Fleming titles
Gunbarrel before title credits
For title credits = more naked women
The villain = BLOFELD as a Quantum no 1
Flirting scene between Bond and Moneypenny
More advanced gadgets and cars
Have 3 Bond girls (not impossible)
Director should be British citizen
Have a henchman or two
Ski chasing
Bond wears Navy uniform
And also return of Persian cat
Please film it in either 35mm or Imax 70mm. DO NOT use digital again...please.
I know much has been made of the brilliant photography of SF but for me it did not blow my socks off. Yes there was some outstanding shots but the rest looked pretty average IMO. CR on the other hand was beautiful though out. Lovely rich deep colours, warm when it needed to be a dark for the later scenes.
Bring back Campbell and Meheux for 24
