How about Christoph Waltz as the next Bond villain? He was a great psycho nazi in the last Tarantino film.

Have you seen him in the previews for Django Unchained. He plays a good guy but he's such a great actor. He's playing Gorbechav in the upcoming move about the Cold War.

Having seen him as a bad guy in MI3? I think Philip Seymour Hoffman would be a great Bond villain too!

I could see him as head of a certain organisation.. easy.

There is so much that could still be explored with Blofeld. Who cares that "a bald-headed" lookalike was kiiled in FYEO. Bond has been re-booted so why not Ernst?

    Edgar Wright should do it.

Or when he's done with Machete 2, Ricardo Rodruigez maybe?

    Wright is right,
Rodriguez is soo wrong in my opinion. Besides, he's not European.

Fiennes could always direct.. Coriolanus anyone?

Why? He can do action and I think he's proven he can adjust (he went from the Mariachi trilogy to kids films to Machete!).

I LOVE(d) Rodriguez, and a couple of years ago I suggested him as a Bond director myself. But since then I've started doubting.

First of all, he seems to be getting sloppy lately. Too caught up in the 'cheap filmmaker' image that was created around him when he did El Mariachi. He starts cutting too many corners, and it shows in his films. Machete is fun, but it doesn't bring much to the table, Spy Kids 4 was a horrible mess, and those other kids movies didn't do him any favors either.

Plus, we shouldn't let him write the scirpt (not that director's do that for a Bond film anyway) because his films are always very simple and rely very heavily on action! The ones that have a good/layered story with engaging characters are the ones he didn't write himself (From Dusk Til Dawn by Tarantino and Sin City based on the comics by Miller)

Also, I've yet to see anything glamorous from Rodriguez. Spy Kids has a bit of it, but it's hammed up through the roof! He's amazing at creating this almost western vibe, but that doesn't fit 007.
He also doesn't really know how to work with a high budget or with a studio/producers that aren't giving him a lot of freedom. So he can't be free in his directing, which I think is one of the most important things for him to be!

I think it could be a very interesting Bond film if Rodriguez directed, but we'd have to get Rodriguez in his mid-late 90's flow, with a good script, and he'd still have to convince me on character and style! However, I would love a Bond film set in Mexico, with some of Rodriguez' regulars appearing. Especially Trejo and Michelle Rodriguez, maybe also Banderas and DeNiro, or Willis as Blofeld :D

I'm pretty confident this means the return of Purvis, Wade, and Mendes (and hopefully Logan!)

Purvis and Wade - most likely

    Logan - maybe

Mendes - well... we'll just have to wait and see... fingers crossed though that he does.

Zero chance Mendes will return IMO. May be in a film or two but even then v unlikely.

They should get Mel Gibson to direct Bond 24 and I'm not joking. Love him or hate him, you can't deny that he is an amazing director. I'm not a religious person, but I believe The Passion of the Christ is a masterpiece and his latest movie Apocalypto is even better.
  • Hmm it would be interesting to see Spielberg give it a go. Maybe even J.J. Abrams, but with Mission:Impossible....

Edgar Wright is doing the Ant-Man movie for Marvel, which is slated for 2015. He's been working on the movie since 2008.

Right now, I stand by what I've always maintained for almost a year now, get Mendes back to do Bond 24.

I hate to be the guy who destroys the people thinkings, but, and if Skyfall is not a good movie? (I know it will be, just a supposition)

    Danny Boyle

Oooh I hope. That's a good pick. His Potters were the best.

Yeah, he'd definitely be able to bring that large scope and escapist feel.
  • Ok we have the facts -
    1) Skyfall is going to be a great film.
    2) Daniel Craig is signed up for 2 more Bonds.
    3) Pre-production has already started in some form on Bond 24.

    Now let's look at two more supposed facts;
    - Craig got the ball rolling with getting Mendes on board for Skyfall and the rest followed.
    - Broccoli says she wants to shoot the next Bond in India!? Well some of it.

Taking into account the above - my hunch is; Maybe they have been able to go straight into pre-production on Bond 24 because Craig has got Danny Boyle (whom he shot the Olympic footage with etc) on-board to shoot 'Bond 24'!!! Boyle of course was critically praised for Slumdog Millionaire which was predominantly set in India. I'd say Mendes would also come back for 'Bond 25'.

It's too early to really determine who's directing Bond 24 BUT I think based on previous patters, the producers have asked Campbell and Forster to come back. Mendes, did mention that he'd like to do another one if he's still enthused, excited and had a great time shooting SF, which he has already stated. I personally think that, with Mendes the producers will try and make more of an effort to keep Mendes on for Bond 24 at least because the film's production not only went extremely well but Mendes is the sort of director the series needs. He knows Bond, he's a fantastic craftsman and for such a big scale production, he knows how to manage such a project where everything doesn't feel so overwhelming.......and then there's the talent Mendes is able to attract even more so after the mammoth success SF is going to be.

Ultimately, it all depends on whether Mendes wants to return.

Forster said he'd never direct another Bond movie because he said he would want to create his own franchise or something like that.

Like Vaughn Tarantino etc lol :P
Why make your own franchise when you can contribute to the greatest franchise there's been!

With how much I love Campbell's two Bond installments, I think they should just freeze the man's body and wake him up every time a new Bond actor steps into the scene.

But, with the way things are shaping up now, I would prefer to see Mendes return for 'Bond 24.' Like another poster stated, gives Craig some continuity to go on.

Because originality is Key and with today's remakes, reboots and sequelitius. Everything is becoming less and less original these days.

I saw an infographic the other day that compared the top ten grossing films from a random year in 1960 to the top ten grossing films from a few years ago, and it compared which ones were originals, remakes, sequels, etc. It's crazy how Hollywood is today. Things are rarely original, and when they do crop up from time to time, such as this year's 'Looper' and 'Skyfall,' you learn to really appreciate them.

I think we'll have solid director rumors early next year, as with Mendes. They'll want whoever is directing deeply involved again.

I think we'll also start get casting rumors in the summer that we can be confident with.

Never trust plot rumors; never trust location rumors until deep into production.

He hates British people, especially Timothy Dalton apparently. So I don't think we'll be getting a Bond film from Max anytime soon.

Robert Rodriguez & QT should stay far away from Bond.

I actually like the latter very much (his films that is) but... no.

NO NO NO to Gibson. Don' want a racist directing Bond. Plus any enemy of Tim Dalton is an enemy of mine!
  • I thought Gibson was the godson of Dalton' son or am I missing something?

He was the stepdad of Daltons son.

Hopefully its a good film. If you look at Bond history post-Connery, the best (reviewed) films have almost always been released after a period of 3+ Bondless years (DAD being the exception). The following films all revitalized the franchise to different degrees, but the films with 2-year headways were usually inferior (objectively speaking):

    - The Spy Who Loved Me
    - Goldeneye
    - Casino Royale
    - Skyfall

And can they PLEASE put Bond back in a modern Aston Martin--the new Vanquish???
