  • Based on two viewings of SF (and my current mood), an updated top ten:

    1) Casino Royale
    2) From Russia With Love
    3) The Living Daylights
    4) Skyfall
    5) Licence To Kill
    6) Goldfinger
    7) On Her Majesty's Secret Service
    8) Thunderball
    9) The Spy Who Loved Me
    10) GoldenEye

After a third viewing, though, it could be all change again.

Good to see its hitting a lot of people's top ten and top 5's. I think its the perfect Bond film and with Casino Royale the best Bond films since Connerys FRWL/GoldFinger . Still SF is number 1 while CR is number 2 either could change spots and it wouldn't make a difference

I had high, high expectations for it and it didn't disappoint. #6 right now, just missing top 5.

I've got it ranked #1 of the re-boot series.
    1. SF
    2. QoS
    3. CR
I don't include the Craig films in my original Eon timeline rankings. The Craig films are quite different. I can't really compare.

It is way too early to tell. I can only qualify it in generic terms: say it is not as good as CR but superior to QOS (which I enjoyed), better than most (all?) of Brosnan Bonds and better than the ones I strongly hated, not as good as the first four Bond movies (but which ones can be?). That's about it.

Casino royale and skyfall are the equals of any of Connery's first 4 films as is OHMSS.

CR and OHMSS, maybe. But even for CR, which I prefer to OHMSS, it is too early to tell. I enjoyed Skyfall, it is a solid Bond movie, but way too fresh for me to give him a precise ranking yet. Especially not compare it to the classics that defined the genre!

QoS and Skyfall being rated below DAD is like inviting Marilyn Monroe to work the red rope at a beauty pageant.

Anyway, Skyfall would easily be a top ten contender for me. It has Dan (my #2 Bond and some truly touching moments that rank as the best in the series. Overall, a bloody satisfying release.
