Doesn't M mention it as well?
That said, I wasn't happy to see the DB5 again and felt it really took you out of the drama of the moment - too post modern and self-referential.
What I don't get is how people justify it by saying "but it's Bond's car!". It was Bond's car in two Sean Connery films. It wasn't in the films for 30 years so why use it now? SF had an excuse because of the anniversary, and it would've been a nice nod, but like I said, seeing it in GE, TND and CR ruined the impact it would've had for me.
Hopefully now it won't be featured again. Leave it in the past where it belongs.
I thought the remote control car idea in TND was quite a creative idea. It's one of those things where it's implausible, but they just about get away with it because it's fun (like the lotus in TSWLM).
In 2015 it will have been 9 years since CR (the last Bond film to have a brand new Bond car), so I'm hoping Bond 24 has a new car, with some new gadgets. The new Lotus gets my vote.
Maybe you could have a factory producing them, Bond breaks into there because the owner has been up to some dodgy stuff, he does whatever he's there to do and then when he's escaping he improvises and steals one. There's a short chase and he shoots and shakes off the cars chasing him, then he's coming up to a road block, so he flies off before he smashes into it. Cue title sequence.
Might be a bit OTT for Craig though, even though it's a real car.
Here's one I found. Doesn't look like it can fly for long but it'd be enough for Bond to escape. There's also another which I found ages ago and started a thread about
http://www.mi6community.com/index.php?p=/discussion/1721/who-would-want-to-see-bond-drive-one-of-these/p1
Skyfall was fun but I want a dark tone Like Casino Royale Quantum of Solace license to Kill or From Russia With Love
a Modern Kronsteen for Quantum would be great too
and an all around hard edged SPY thriller for bond 24 would be nice.
I'm just trying to think of in what context this could be framed these days. Like Judi Dench's M, I do miss the Cold War.
Yes! I'd love another Attache Case for Bond to use on assignment.
Yes
Completely agree. I want Newman back. He added some necessary multi-layered compositions to the franchise, with better use -and more use- of a larger variety of instruments. Not to mention the fact that Newman is a great, crisp conductor too. We can't say that from Arnold. Newman deserved his Oscar nomination for his Bond score. I want him BACK! Hence the topic I made about him: <url>http://www.mi6community.com/index.php?p=/discussion/7089/bring-thomas-newman-back-for-bond-24-appreciation-topic/p4#Item_115</url>
The views of the movie in The Netherlands of Bond movie double from 1 million to 2 million and theater counts of DAD and must read from the right to the left (DAD 112 Skyfall 211). There be presure to see the movie. I prefer to wait 4-5 weeks, but that is not possible any more since the release no longer be in late November/December (possible to see the movie in January) but October-November/December. With a bit more then 3 weeks, i expect moost people have seen it and can preper on the movie. 23 days ater the release date of 31 October and i get 3 tickets for screentime after 10.00 PM and again not biggest theater room. Bond 24 should get a higher theater count and let stay it that high for 5 weaks, but a theater count of 276 like like Chamber of Secrets in 2002 is those days not possible any more with to much movies.
1. Les spoilers in trailers and pictures
2. Bigger theater count start
3. Bigger theater count stay for 5 weaks
4. Longer in the cinema
5. Back to late November-December release month's.
How I'd do it is that something happens to set up the plot post PTS (think the warheads being stolen in TB or the ship being attacked in TND, something that doesn't involve Bond) and then M calls Bond in, but instead of being on a mission or banging some random girl like he has in past films, he's visiting Vespers grave at the time. He puts some flowers down, answers his phone, then whizzes off to MI6 to recieve his orders.
Brutal, visceral hand to hand combat
Bond to have sexual contact with no less than 3 women
The score to make use if the title theme music as cues during the movie
Bond's character to be relaxed similarly to how he was when he and Vesper first arrived at the hotel Splendid in CR
Gunbarrel at the start
Outside of the MI6 briefing for there to only be 3 or less geographical locations
Glamour. Lots and lots of glitzy glamour
Good idea. Bond does visit it yearly in the Fleming books as well, so it fits.
Or what about:
1st) The gunbarrel
2nd) Cinema commercials
3rd) Pre-Credits sequence
4th) Three trailers from other movies
5th) Main titles
6th) A different design gunbarrel
7th) Rest of the film
:-L
I would truly love that, haha. In the middle of a firefight halfway into the film Bond shoots towards the camera (acting as the perspective of the baddie's crony) and the gun-barrel appears on screen following his gunshot. I'd approve it just to annoy those that take it too seriously.
If a Bond film does not have certain things then all we end up doing is watching just another action film.
If you want action then watch Bourne, Mission Impossible etc but if you want Bond then certain things need to exist.
1. Opening gun barrell at the beginning, this cements the viewer with the reassurance that THIS is Bond.
2. More familiar musical score, the theme tune needs to be used more at key moments, I don't want just another action soundtrack, When bond is doing somethingoutrageous or getting one over on the bad guy, the theme needs to kick in David Arnold was always a fan of this but lost it a tad with QOS.
3. Gadgets, now before we all get on our high horses on this let's not forget how Goldfinger shot the franchise into the stratosphere with a few special gadgets like the DB5 . The same can be said for The Spy Who Loved Me, everyone loves the Lotus sub, I'm not saying Craig's Bond needs anything like that but some nice little toys would be nice to elevate his movies into the same memorable bracket.
4. Blofeld, this has to be a firm staple of the Bond franchise, while not in every film, having him elude Bond would be a nice background storyline.
5. Humour, Bonds wit needs to be brought back a bit, I agree that it should not be silly but as a big Moore fan, this is a great element that still has a place in Bond.
Obviously to add to this we need, exotic locations, beautiful women, manic villains and memorable theme songs.
I feel better for getting that out there...
Definitely agree with you on the score. I always love when the theme tune is scored differently or more simply. Skyfall was such a missed opportunity by Newman because the SF song itself is so beautiful. It was begging to be softly scored out at a few different moments.
