Isn't Felix now section chief of South America? I feel like its unlikely we'll see him again.

Yeah, I wish they wouldn't have done that. The only way that he could be brought back is if Bond made his way to South America (again!) or Felix got moved to another area, requested replacement himself, or got some other honor in the agency that moved him elsewhere.

Felix Leiter can of course be transferred, he can also be sent say to follow a South American criminal to another part of the world, or go to a conference, and meet Bond there. Something like this.

Always thought Matthew McConnaughey would be a good choice. Tall, lanky, Texas drawl.

Good call. Aaron Eckhart is also a good call.

Jeff Wright is a very good actor so I'm not complaining and does bring some diversity to the franchise.

Dont ditch Jefferey Wright!! If so get another black one (no offence they should just stick to the same color) or get Demetri Goritsas. He voiced Leiter in 007 Legends!!

I think there should be one Felix Leiter for each Bond actor (at least), to avoid the confusion we had in the past. And for the actor and character to make a lasting impression.
  • On second thought, Woody Harrelson would make a perfect Leiter. From Texas but has the edginess and toughness to be CIA.

Harrelson is a bit too famous and expensive. I say this and now Ralph Fiennes is M. But we already have a Leiter and he can play Leiter for a bit.

I'm thinking for the next re-boot, with a new Bond.

    Perfect example:

Here Jeffrey Wright has confirmed that he has heard whispers from the producers that he will be back for Bond 24:
  • Classy guy and good to hear he could be coming back from the cold in Bond 24.

Great news, this. Thanks. P2D. I'm sure he'll be back in one of the next two films at least.

It may be worth pointing out Mockingjay films from this September to next May, so hopefully Wright is not too busy there to film for Bond 24 as well.

If this is the case? This is great news indeed to hear? Hopefully this could indicate a joint CIA/MI6 op to take on Quantum?! Would love to see Leiter mixing it up with Bond against the enemy! :-bd

Great news, one of the thing i would like most for Bond 24 is Felix Leiters return. And to see Bond and Felix working closely, like a joung operation. That would be splendid!

I sure hope we can see Jeffrey Wright in the role again.

Yes, I really like Jeffrey Wright as Leiter a lot; I do hope he gets confirmed soon for Bond 24 (and beyond). I'd like to see him working with Craig's Bond a bit more. I think they have good camaraderie. All up to a good script, of course.

He's a great actor so I hope he comes back soon. I also hope he gets some more screen time and takes an active role in the story and helps Bond on his mission.

Felix Leiter not in Bond 24 I read somewhere but it likely to be for sure.

Jeffrey Wright won't be in BOND24:

"Before I go, I have to ask: Bond 24? Any chance you’ll be in it?
No. Felix is going to be playing Beetee [from "The Hunger Games/Mockingjay"] next fall or whenever it comes out."

So either Felix won't be in BOND24 or we'll have another Felix. I'd love to have a Felix but another change would be just so... crackbrained!

Why would he refer to himself as Felix? Felix is going to be playing Beetee?

Hope it is a swerve, but obviously a disappointment if the talented Jeffrey Wright is not reprising Felix Leiter. Certainly deserves to be the first three film Felix.

RogueAgent i agree the other two Casino Royales do not count and that spoof in 1967 what a seeming pile of buffalo dung it does not even have place in the dvd collection

I would add NSNA to that, none of these films in my opinion belong in the regular Bond canon.

Wright has done a good job thus far as Leiter, I would be fine with him returning.

Agree with this completely. Wright has been great in the role and I'd like to see him back.

So whyle Sony is calling the Ghostbusters, for MGM it is time to call Jeffrey Wright..!
  • My understanding is that Wright was earmarked for a return in Spectre. He even gave an interview on Sirius FM where he mentioned that he had been asked to return but the script had changed since.

According to the Sony leaks we know this is true, Felix was in John Logan's draft. He apparently flirts with Moneypenny and tells Bond that she's a "foxy lady". So maybe we should be glad that Logan and Leiter got the axe...

However......despite being a big Jeffrey Wright fan. I'm a huge advocate of recasting the Leiter character. Part of the fun of the character is the radical casting decisions.

We've seen so many drastic changes; from handsome and athletic to portly and balding. It's always fun seeing who will be the new Felix. Felix is such a stock CIA character in the Bond films that the casting can take some brave moves.

I think it would be brilliant if Leiter was reintroduced as a woman. I'm a huge proponent that Sarah Paulson should be the new Felix Leiter. I can just imagine her as a beleaguered and world-weary CIA agent

    1459959502086.jpg

I suppose you could just create a new female CIA agent...but I like a more iconalastic move. Plus, the casting of Felix has zero continuity. How could one man go from being Rik van Nutter and turn into Norman Burton?! It makes zero sense. The only think they have in common, aside their gender, is race. However, Jeffrey Wright and Bernie Casey have proven that race isn't entirely important to the character either.

There is zero logic in the casting of Felix, so I'm a huge proponent of the franchise going a little off-piste.

Jeffrey Wright is my favourite Felix Leiter followed by Jack Lord and Rick van Nutter

Why would you want a female Felix Leiter? That's as good as casting a female James Bond. Geez!

Personally, I've always been an advocate of Aaron Eckhart being cast as Felix. He would've fit the Craig universe like glove.

The character of Leiter has gone from the good, the bad, to the very ugly.
I think that Jefffrey Wright was the best and the fact that they kept him during Craig's tenue says a lot.

Jack Lord was good and I liked the boyish charm of Rik Van Nutter (who reminded me of a young Clint Eastwood)

Cin Linder and that jackass they casted in DAF would be the ugly and the very ugly. Hedison was better in LTK than he was in LALD

Same here. No Felicia Leiter or Mr Moneypenny.

    Exactly!

It was good that created a replacement of Moneypenny with a male character called Villiers, and that's the way to do it. Other than that, it's absurdity and stupidity.
